Shrike's 1st Journal - Multiple Strains

Re: Shrike's 1st Journal - Using PlatinumLED P900 x 2 - DocBud's "Kit" - Multiple Sta

How does that Soler & Palau TD-150S compare to the can fan in terms of real performance? It can not work against much back pressure compared to the can fans (different internal designs). The specs may match, but that's in open air (with no backpressure from the filter). I like that they are quiet, but do they move the air against the filter? Sorry to go off topic here.....

The fan is in my tent...so you're not off topic. :Namaste:

I am not familiar with the workings of can fans...never used them (maybe someone else can chime in?)

But, the S&P moves the air really well...it will bow in the tent no problem. I actually set up a second passive intake just to relieve a bit of the negative pressure. They will pull through a can filter with ease...:thumb:

Look somewhat familiar? ;)

FYI I use Phresh filters inside the tents, and the beefier Can Filters outside the tents where its more critical for me.

You run charcoal filter on both end of your ducting?

Re: Shrike's 1st Journal - Using PlatinumLED P900 x 2 - DocBud's "Kit" - Multiple Sta

No...The Can33 in my tent has been all the filtering I've needed so far. With my old setup I could stand right in front of the vent where the exhaust comes out and no matter how hard I tried I couldn't smell a whiff of what was inside the tent even at the peak of flowering...

I exhaust the tents into a sealed room which then gets exhausted via the Can 75 -> SP TD-200s to the outside. Even tho I am 100% legal, I just dont like imposing anything on my neighbors...

Thats the beauty of the Can filters. They work and keep on working. My buddy's is going on 2 years and I cant smell anything in his exhaust. Incredible.

Exactly. There's something to be said for stepping up the quality and technology of our hobby to just make it all a bit nicer. I hang out in my grow room at times for an hour at a time, and I listen to tunes, sit at my desk on my laptop and putter in the closet in addition to doting over my actual garden...lol. I want it to be nice in there, and the loud din of the older fan can harsh your vibe if subjected to it for that long.

Did an Energy Drench 4 days ago and the plants look great! Back to a 1/4 Transplant watering tonight.
Tomorrow night will be a De-Stress spraying with Brix spraying on Saturday's.

I am already starting to see pre-flowering on a few of the plants. Hopefully I end up with 6-7 out of the 10 being female. I'll post up some more pic's later in the week. I know most people prefer the Flowering porn to Veg, but I also know some like to see pic's from the whole grow. Since some people may be new to growing and want as much info and pic's as possible (I was one of them), I'll try to accommodate as time dictates...

On a side note...not sure how many people use HerbIQ, are aware of it or maybe have moved on from it, but I find it excellent to use to keep track of almost everything related to my grow. It is a free d/l, and the author updates it when he can. Here are some pic's of it in service to me...

It really is a cool program. I used to use the program Grow Assist, but ended up gravitating over to this one. Some will probably like G.A. better...YMMV. I do back up the program pretty much every day and keep multiple backups as all of my eggs are in this basket and...well, you know that story!

lol...I just use the calendar function on my cell phone. What can I say, it was my path of least resistance.

That looks pretty cool though. I'll check it out.

Have my first confirmed female! It is 9lb Hammer #2...she is pushing out those first two lovely little white hairs...woo...hoo

It is the plant that is right center in this picture of the four 9lb Hammers'

And Doc...I just love this soil of yours...Every leaf on every plant pretty much looks like this one...perfect, and a lovely deep green...the pic doesn't do it justice.

And on a side note...I never had an R.O. unit before...used to buy a LOT of distilled at Wally World over the past few years. But now I have this unit, and it works great! Puts out perfect water and even adds back in a small amount of Ca/Mag.
Easy to install and easy to use...:thumb:

That's a lot nicer than mine. I was apprehensive initially because even a less-expensive unit is still kind of expensive. But I can't tell you how nice it's been to simply go to the garage and draw all the good water I want.

A quick question for Doc...or anyone else that knows the answer...

I am starting to accumulate a few leaves and toppings. I still have another bin of soil (about 30 gal.) that I have not used yet until it's time to load up the 7 gal. air-pots for the final up canning. That should be 10-14 days away yet. Can/should I add those leaves/toppings to the bin with the ready to use soil in it? Will the plant material break down in the soil quick enough, or should I just hold on to it until I see how much soil I have left over and just throw it in there, getting it ready for round 2 next grow?

Is the soil you're referring to nice and warm? Has it stayed moist and warm? If so, go ahead and put the leaves on top, with a generous dusting of Roots! and then work them into the top few inches of soil and gently moisten with water.

You should see fuzz in a couple days and the leaves will be gone by time you need the soil.

But ONLY IF the soil stayed nice and warm and moist all that time. Otherwise, wait till next round.

Re: Shrike's 1st Journal - Using PlatinumLED P900 x 2 - DocBud's "Kit" - Multiple Sta

Thanks Doc for the quick reply...

The soil is in the grow "room", it has stayed moistened properly, but the temps in there (not inside the tent) stay anywhere between 63 and 70, so I'm thinking that I should probably hang on to the cuttings until next grow. I'll move the soil out of that room a few days before I need it just to "warm" it up a bit in the house proper...

If it's not on a cold slab, I think you'll be OK with that. Perhaps add the leaf and heat it up? The soil really likes the humus.

Re: Shrike's 1st Journal - Using PlatinumLED P900 x 2 - DocBud's "Kit" - Multiple Sta

Nope...it's sitting on carpeting. I just might give it a whirl with a few of the smaller cuttings and see how the soil likes digesting them...thanks! :thumb:

Re: Shrike's 1st Journal - Using PlatinumLED P900 x 2 - DocBud's "Kit" - Multiple Sta

I've added trimmings to my "2nd" bin of unused soil. It eats it in 5-7 days at my grow room temps (78-82).
