Capt Blast Moving Indoors - A Utility Shed Perpetual

Well, I'm getting there, have a 4x4 tent set up in the shed with 400 watt MH, a 5x5 tent on the way, along with 8/3 UF wire to run power, some insulation, etc, $'s etc...

Strain - Indica Critical Kush & Green Crack from seed
# of Plants - 10
Grow Type - Soil
Grow Stage - Vegetative
Bucket Size - 1 Gallon going to 5 gallon
Lights - (2) 400 Watt MH veg 600 watt HPS Flower
Nutrients - Fox Farm
Medium - Fox Farm's Ocean Forest with 25% perlite added

I currently have these in a closet in my home, moving tomorrow to the shed. I have the 600 watt HPS running in the shed /tent now to check temps and such, plants are under 400 watt MH @ the moment. Do ya'll suggest starting under the 600 watt HPS or using the 600 watt MH until ready for flower in another 2 weeks? Could easily continue under the 400 watt MH but would make less stress to go directly under the 600. Currently running 20 hrs on 4 off in veg, growing like mad in a seedling soil. Topped once yesterday above 4th node. I've got some other seeds soaking to accommodate the perpetual, and plan to take clones of these as well. Working on it little by little. Have power to install (running on 10/3 extension cord while waiting on my wire order, insulation to go in and a divider wall to build, but hey, I'm up and running again anyway.

Thank god these damn Ladybugs are good for something, they can be a nuisance this time of year around here:

Thanks for stopping in, been missing my gang.

:green_heart:

I would keep them under MH until the switch to flower. How old are they? Growing from seed they should be towards 50 days for best flowering.

And first sub! front and center to watch the grow!

Glad to have you SF. They are 18 days old, going to flip at 18-20"'s due to height restrictions, will probably do two more toppings, very little LST and flip with the next 3 weeks. Have 10 but plan to run 9 of those in a 5x5 tent with (1) 600 watt HPS.

Thanks for the confirmation on bulb choice, setting up my 4x4 with 600 watt MH today, will move them out to shed/tent tonight. I have the 400 watt MH inside and will bring it out to set up for permanent veg tent later. Just want the move from closet to tent quick and painless.

Much good green Karma to you :passitleft:

Well I FIM'D this one obviously, have one spare so will be interesting to play with it. Last grow I FIM'd one and it grew 3 straight up skinny branch with mail colas, it was a Pineapple Chunk. Anywho, going to have 9 in the tent with one to spare we'll see. :scratchinghead:

Subbed man.... I'll catch up later, lunch break at work... You links not working in you signature....

Makes sense. I like your plan so far. What are your day night outdoor temps right now? Is the shed insulated/heated? Long ago I did a shed grwo and success or failure was definitely dependent on outdoor temps.

Our temps are everywhere around these parts, normally pretty mild winters, low to mid 30's is cold to us, today 63 high, 46 low. Have a heater, it's a 12x16 shed, insulation & wiring going in next two weeks, will have A/C in come spring. Presently heater (thermostatically controlled) hasn't been needed to come on, trying to regulate tent temps by light heat and fresh air movement, with passive vents open for in-flo and 240 cfm fan drawing air out, no fan on light for now, probably coming when temps climb in the spring, though I have one at the ready a 6" 460 cfm and hope to cool two side by side tents lights (600 watt (1) each tent). Plan is to control temps of entire shed and regulate tents with shed's air. We'll see, will be easy enough to draw from outside shed directly if neccessary. Any way starting to ramble, not a lot going on other than working on the room/shed. Perhaps some shots of shed would help, for the moment it's just a tent and a work in progress.

:yikes:

Ok so a quick few pics and I promise to come back an explain a bit better later. Got the 17 yr. son in with GF for a few days of deer hunting & obviously a lot of texting , teenagers...

Outside at night 41 degrees (F), 1st pic inside of shed, 2nd pic inside of tent:

There was a small loft on each end of the shed I purchased, I knocked one end out to allow for the height of the cheap-0 tent I bought (liked the cheap 4x4 so much I bought a 5x5 afterwards. Height is 6'4" inside tent.

I'm contemplating doing a DIY dilly in the DIY forums on the shed setup, will do wiring first of course and then insulation, have almost all my electrical do-dads ready just need the fam damily gone to get started. Insulation immediately after, might have to wait a while to finish walls due to funds.

Thinking to try and control climate of shed instead of each tent with the exception of a drying tent/room which will come down the line. I would think that the veg and flower tents would be ok at equal +/- humidity and temp levels, would like to control drying room separately. What say you friends, old and new?

Insulating the shed is definitely the way to go. My preference would be to create actual cabinets in the shed and put peg board and tools on the doors so it looked legit when opening the shed you can vent out of the eaves on the back of the shed. I would put a 1.5 foot lower veg area with t5 and an upper flowering area with your main lights. You could even put a drying area over the flower area, looks like you have plenty of height in that shed. Then you could just insulate the cabinet doors and walls and the back wall of the shed.

Coming along man.. Geez you up and going alright..... Humidity and temps be alright same for veg and flowering.. Could always get a little humidifier for the veg tent. Getting girls veg around 70% rh...

Originally that was exactly my plan to use peg board and have a hidden entrance Shiggity, now I'm getting greedy and want more room, imagine that. It's very rare for me to get visitors, I'm out in the boondocks and have a barn and two 40' containers that I use for shop and storage, actually just have the tools in there as I'm trying to organize my barn better @ the moment. I think I've decided to make this shed private with lock down tight security though I don't even lock my house doors around here. I like your idea for the drying room against a wall, I went through hell during my last harvest trying to regulate a good proper dry, learned a bunch and want to have a better setup in the future for that for sure. Also thought about the overhead for drying. The building has roof seam venting @ the peak and venting in the sofits which was my deciding factor when looking @ different builders. I was also thinking to use t5's for veg but am really impressed with the tight node spacing and thick stocks and just overall great growth from seed to present with a 400 watt MH and will probably continue to use it for this, the one in the pic is not the same reflector I've been using by the by. Thanks for your insightful thoughts and input, keep it up.

Absolutly Grizz, will add a humidifier as well as a dehumidifier to the tool list as I can afford, definitely will need the higher humidities in the winter when I start clones and need less humidity here in all other seasons as our air gets thick. Been putting all I can in as I go along, looks like another 2 weeks to flip on the first ones. Was thinking to flip six (5 week veg) in the 5x5 and in a month flip the other four (9 week veg w/lots of training) just to experiment with yield and manageability between the two while also getting the schedule set. My goals are two-fold, #1- I would like to yield about 10-14 zips a month and #2- I would like to keep the plant total at a minimum. Looks like I finally have some success with the green crack I've been unable to get going the last couple of runs, looking forward to growing this strain, I only hope I can find a couple that are the quality of the smoke I bought last year, loved that shit man! Gonna be a 2-3 weeks before I can sit back and quit spending money! Getting tired of eating bologna sandwiches here :slide:

The temps and humidity should be ok for veg and flower for now. You can dial it in later on.

Christmas, tools and weed in the same room. I like how you roll. :welcome:

Welcome Skunkpilot. Thanks for that, funny the christmas box in the loft I've had forever, I use it for my stash and to keep my laptop up off the coffee table with, just hid it out the room for my younguns' visit, lol.

Straight back at ya captain. You to weasel....

came home today after leaving on Wednesday morning (3 1/2 days), water and fed for the first time just before leaving. I was having a deficiency of some sort, suspected cal-mag, fed 1/2 recommended of fox farm's big grow, pretty sure my seedling starter is burnt and my pots are close to perfectly root bound. Everything was green with the exception of a few of the lower leaves that were showing the problem before I left. When I first got in the shed checked the temp/humidity and was happy albeit a bit concerned. I planned for highs of 71 (F) and found 86* (F), opened the tent to find I had high temps of 97 today, and plants really drooping from the stress, temp outside here today was 84, go figure. The Green Crack in the smaller pots really showed it and a couple of the Kush's. Gave then each 2 cups of water, more air, and turn the exhaust fan up. I went back in a few minutes ago (3 hours later) and it's amazing how fast they are recovering. Tomorrow night I will transplant to 5 gallon buckets and hope to flip 6 (4 Critical Kush and 2 Green Crack), will vedge the other 4 for another 2-4 weeks, preferably 4 weeks. Of my 10 seeds started have 7 good ones (2 Cinderella 99 out of 4, 1 The Purps out of 2, 2 Delicious Cheese Candy out of 2, and 2 707 Truth Headband out of 2). The Purps and the C'99 I paid for the others are freebies. I had better success with the first 10 seeds @ 100%. Any who, I'm ramblin' and thought I'd post an update.
