Come Grow With Me: A Beginners Guide

Welcome to my "Nightmare". I've named this bitch "Night - Mare" since she's a girl & collapsed at night.
Anyways, she took a hell of a beating. I've been working on her a little each day to keep her alive to the finish. I've removed about 30 - 35 leaves per day for the past 3 days & have been tucking branches back up under the net the best I can. Quite a few branches got broke. Looks like about 10 or so. But so far no seed pods or bananas. She's getting really frosty; but there's a lot of small bud on this one. I checked Trichs this morning. Most of what is left is still clear with about 15% cloudy & just a few amber spots. So if I can keep her going 2 more weeks I should do OK.
Here's a few pics. Try not to laugh too hard.

Too late. She reminds me of the one cow that gets lost from the herd and gets herself in trouble. Hope she came out okay.

Had to harvest her too early because she kept collapsing. I more or less gave up on her. Weed gets you a good buzz; but only for about 30 min. & it's gone. Oh well, On the shelf for when I have nothing else to smoke.

No Light Today ! Now UPS Tracking says "Recipient was not home to receive it". What a joke. I talked to the UPS guy & he said it wasn't on his truck. I called UPS to see if I could go pick it up. They assured me it was on another delivery truck & I'd receive it today. Damned thing must be invisible, because I don't see it. I hate UPS & never use them. Mainly because they don't deliver on weekends & Fed-X does. Fed-X is usually cheaper too.
So I had to unpack my Mars lights again & rehang them till Monday. The Tent looks pretty good after the changes. I'm not so sure the 16" fan will work though. It's installed & works as it should.
It's just bigger then expected so not sure it will clear the new light.
I've been at this all day so I'll post a couple pics in the morning. Time to burn one & get some rest. Night All !

Well even though the tent is only part way done I'll post some pics & info. So here's where I am so far.
A couple pics showing tent overall. As you can see the fan is a little low at the moment so it's not being used yet. I did test it out & it works fine without bowing or twisting the tent. I wish I could have found a 12" fan but I only found a 16" in the wall mount type of Oscillating fans. If I come across a 12" I'll put the 2 - 16" in the Flower Room & put the 12" in the tent. I can easily raise the fan I have now as it's hanging on Yo Yo's & Zip tied loosely to the poles till I find the right height for it. But I can't determine height or if I'll be able to use it till my light gets here.

On the left side of the tent I put up 12" x 5' wire shelving to prevent the tent from sucking in & to hold the Saturn 4. I also installed a 4" Exhaust & Filter that exhausts out the window. I can use the Saturn 4 a few different ways.
I'm not exactly sure how I want to run it though just yet. Here's some info from the Titan Controls website on the Saturn 4.

Saturn™ 4 – Digital Environmental Controller The simplicity in the design of the Saturn™ 4 is what makes it such a unique environmental controller. It provides the grower with the essential controls for temperature, humidity and CO2 in their garden. The Saturn™ 4 offers three options to maintain the environment in your garden. 1) It can independently lower the temperature via an exhaust fan and decrease humidity using a dehumidifier (Mode A). 2) It can simultaneously lower the temperature via an exhaust fan and decrease humidity using a dehumidifier (Mode B) or 3) Independently lower the temperature via an exhaust fan and increase humidity using a humidifier (Mode C). Instructions for Operation 1. Securely mount your Saturn™ 4 in your grow area and away from any moisture, spray, pesticides or other materials that could harm the unit. 2. Ensure that all of the devices being connected to the controller are 120 Volt only and will not exceed the maximum amperage rating for the Saturn™ 4. 3. Connect your gear (exhaust fan, CO2 controller, night circulation fan, dehumidifier, etc.) to the Saturn™ 4. The sensor has a quick connect cord set to easily connect or move the sensor. Secure the quick connect cord to the Saturn™ 4 by plugging it in and securing the QD screw to the unit. 4. Place the sensor in an area with good air movement, and where it is exposed to your grow lights and not shaded or covered. Avoid placing the sensor in direct sunlight or under direct HID lighting. NOTE: Do not place sensor anywhere it might get wet. SENSOR IS NOT WATER PROOF. 5. Plug the power cable into a standard 120 Volt wall outlet. 6. Adjust the knobs to the desired settings on the Saturn™ 4. 7. The Saturn™ 4 should now activate and deactivate your equipment based on the preferred settings you selected. COOLING OUTPUT: This outlet is intended to active an exhaust fan to ventilate the garden due to high temperature conditions. CO2 OUTPUT: This outlet is for a CO2 device and powers ON during the daytime period only. It will deactivate when the ‘Cooling Output’ is activated. By achieving this, you are not ventilating the CO2 as you’re enriching your grow area and wasting your CO2. NIGHT OUTPUT: The outlet can be used for a variety of devices that only require power at night. This outlet activates only during the nighttime period. HUMIDITY OUTPUT: This output is for use with a humidifier or dehumidifier. USING THE TEMPERATURE & HUMIDITY DIALS: Temperature Dial: Use the dial on the left to set the maximum temperature for the growing area. If the temperature reaches or rises above this set point, the controller will activate the cooling device, and the cooling device will remain on until the temperature is reduced to 3° F below the set point. For instance: If the temperature set point is 75°F, the Saturn™ 4 will activate the exhaust fan at 75°F and deactivate the fan when the temperature drops below 72° F. Humidity Dial: Use the dial on the right to set the maximum humidity level for the growing area. If the humidity your garden rises or falls above or below this setting (depending on whether you’re using a humidifier or dehumidifier) the Saturn™ 4 will activate the humidity device, and it will stay active until the level is raised or lowered by 5%. For instance: If the dehumidify set point is 50%, then the Saturn™ 4 will activate at 50% and deactivate when the humidity level goes below 45%. Conversely, if the humidify set point is 50%, then the Saturn™ 4 will activate at 50% and deactivate at 55%

OPERATING MODES: The Saturn™ 4 has three operating modes. This selection depends on the type of devices being connected to the controller. Press the Select Mode button to change from MODE A, B or C. A green LED will let you know what MODE you are operating in. Mode A: This mode independently lowers your temperature and humidity. If you are connecting a cooling device (such as a exhaust fan) to lower the temperature AND a dehumidifier to lower the humidity level, the controller will activate these devices independently based on the temperature and humidity levels in your grow room and your preferred set points. The ‘Cooling Output’ is activated when the temperature set point is exceeded and the ‘Humid/Dehumid Output’ is activated when the humidity set point is exceeded Mode B: This mode simultaneously lowers your temperature and humidity. If you are connecting a cooling device (such as an exhaust fan) to lower your temperature AND a dehumidifier to lower the humidity levels, the controller will activate the devices simultaneously if the temperature rises above the set point AND/OR the humidity level rises above the set point. The ‘Cooling Output’ and ‘Humid/Dehumid Output” will both be activated until both the temperature and/or humidity set point is reached. Mode C: This mode independently lowers the temperature and increases the humidity. If you’re connecting a cooling device (such as a fan) to lower your temperature AND a humidifier to raise the humidity level, the controller will activate these devices independently based on the temperature and humidity levels in your grow room and your preferred set points. The ‘Cooling Output’ is activated when the temperature set point is exceeded, and the ‘Humid/Dehumid Output’ is activated when the humidity set point is exceeded. Troubleshooting Tips • The Saturn™ 4 has no power? Verify power source is providing 120 Volts A/C. Reset the circuit breaker on the Saturn™ 4 by turning OFF the unit, then turn ON. • The circuit breaker keeps tripping on my Saturn™ 4? Check to see that you are not exceeding the maximum amperage (14.5 Amps) of the Saturn™ 4. • The CO2 Output is not working? This could be because your Saturn™ 4 is not exposed to light. Put the Saturn™ 4 in a location in your grow room so that the PHOTOCELL is not shaded or covered from lights. It also could be because your Cooling Output is active. When this occurs it deactivates the CO2 Output so you don’t ‘dump your room’ and exhaust all the CO2 you’ve injected. • The MODE LED’s are flashing? The Saturn™ 4 has detected a problem with the remote sensor. This can normally be remedied by turning OFF the Saturn™ 4 & disconnecting the sensor, then re-attaching the sensor back to the Saturn™ 4 and turn the unit back ON. The Saturn™ 4 should be functioning properly again. If not, contact our Technical Service Specialist at 888-808-4826 to assist you further. • The humidity is increasing instead of decreasing or decreasing instead of increasing? Verify that your MODE is correct. MODE’s A & B are used to decrease humidity and MODE C is used to increase humidity.

Easier to post the info. Hope I don't get in trouble for posting this info. As far as I know they don't have any sponsors for Controllers so don't see a reason for it to be an issue.

On the right side is another wire shelf for the same reasons as above. I mounted a surge protector power strip here with a timer for the lights.

10-219.JPG

On the bottom right I installed a 6" air diffuser to a 6" elbow & connected it to a 6" Carbon Filter & Vortex Fan. The filter is within 2' of the AC vent so it will help bring in cooler air. So this is my Intake Air.
I've tried Intake & Exhaust with a 6" fan on each & still got negative air pressure no matter what speeds I put my fans on. With the 4" exhaust I get negative air pressure if the 6" Intake isn't running at the same time. But with both running things are perfect.

This is where things are as of now. Seems to be working out as planned .... so far. Sure hope the light arrives as planned tomorrow so I can get this done & start re-doing the Flower Room.

Looks like I'll be starting a new journal soon to try out the "Prescription Blend Nutrients". They are sending me a sample pack. I'm going to do some different strains on this next round & Do Si Do's is on top of my list.

Hadn't heard of Prescription Blend. Looked them up. First few sentences told me all I wanted to know. "A simple 6 part system". I'm too lazy to deal with that many products...lol. $80 kit makes 95 gallons of feed. Pretty expensive too. That's about 4x more than it's costing me now, and if I'd buy bigger bags the cost would go down even more. Not only am I lazy, I'm cheap. Doesn't sound like it's for me.

I figure, it's free so I may as well see what it does. Maybe I'll do 2 different grows of 4 plants (same strains for both) & compare the difference in nutes ... if any. I could use the 5 x 5 & Flower Room both as reg. grow rooms from start to finish. Lighting would be different as I'd have the 800 watt 10-Bar in the 5 x 5 & 2 - TSW 2000's & 1 - TS 3000 = 1050 Watts in the Flower Room. Other than that everything would be pretty much the same.
I'd have to do 2 separate journals though.

Light finally showed up after I raised hell with UPS corporate office. Today the UPS driver showed up & again said my package was not on his truck; but it was suppose to be. So I called corporate & told them this same thing happened Thursday & Friday & both times they assured me I'd get it that night & it was on another truck. They tried to tell me that again & that's when I went off. So corporate called the local UPS delivery hub & they sent my light over by UPS Van after that. What a PITA ! But at least I have it now. So I'll get it up after dinner & get some pics tonight of the tent with the new light installed. Till then, See Ya !

Just a quick update with some pics. I'm pleased so far with the new light. It's way brighter then the 2 lights I had in there. So bright I'm only running it on 5 for right now. I'll turn it up little by little. I can't say the name of the light.
All I can say is it's a 10 Bar 800 watt light or I'll get spanked or possibly banned. Doesn't make sense you can't say what brand equipment you use unless it's from a sponsor. Makes you feel like the sponsors are the important ones here & not the growers. Kind of like Dr. Fauci & Trump in a way. I understand they need sponsors to keep the site operating. But do they expect us all to only use sponsors equipment ? As long as a person does not compare it to a sponsors light or harp on how great their light is compared to others I really don't know why it would be a big deal. I see people posting their DIY & COB set ups. I see people posting other pots then Geo Pots. Oh well, is what it is. I'm not the boss. Anyway, I'm not looking to discuss this. Just explaining why I can't say the name of the light.
So here's a few pics.

I've had the odd post deleted due to mentioning the wrong product. But I have used and posted products that aren't sponsored with no problem. It does make it difficult at times to know what is acceptable and what is not. I know the moderaters are doing their best to manage the products & sponsors who help us keep the lights on. I don't know if their is a solution to the situation that makes everyone happy. We will just have to do our best to support our sponsors and the staff . I know that the members are just as important as the sponsors but its a symbiotic relationship. And we are all in this together so we have to have some patience. Hope your new light is as good as it looks im sorry you can't say the name.

It doesn't bother me that I can't say it. It's just people always ask & I feel like I'm being an ass when I can't say.

People mention the names of non-sponsor lights in passing all the time. What they don't do is anything that would seem like promotion or saying how theirs is better than a sponsor's lights. No pics of them or shots with the name in them or saying how they're better value for the money. Why would 420 allow that?

And I'm guessing that the lighting sponsors pay more to advertise here than the others, so they carry the biggest share of keeping the "lights" on. Makes perfect sense to keep your biggest advertisers happy.

Your 1st paragraph is exactly what I'm trying to say that "Seems OK to me". Thing is, I'm not totally sure if that's even OK.

I often see non-sponsor names in threads, but maybe they go under the radar of the mods because there's no discussion of them, no pointing them out...they're just part of the update and don't call attention to themselves. Like:
"When I opened the tent this morning I noticed that the Haze had grown too close to the _________."
That's all I'd like to be able to do. Just afraid to since I was warned about mentioning the name of a light I use to have a couple years ago. But they had other issues with that company also; so maybe that's why.

To be honest I have no idea how websites, advertisers, sponsors, buyers, sellers, etc. even work. That's kind of like going to Mars for me. I am far from a tech type person.
I understand my friend this confounded interwebs device is a mystery to me some times.
I've been trying my best but I think if we are born in the sixties we have a right to protest a little about techlogagy
