Im new to this so bare with me. I'm going to post an update weekly of my grow's progress.
I'm not sure how many of you growers keep a log book/spreadsheet- but working as a chef and restaurant manager for years I cant function without consistent tracking of progress.
12/20-12/22 2018
I started 24 seeds, 4 batches of 6 seeds in a distilled water soak. I gently stirred twice a day until a majority began to sink and split open.
6 failed to sink and produce a taproot. They were terminated after 2 days of failing to produce signs of life.
12/22-12/23 2018
After the water soak, I took the remaining 18 seeds and started a paper towel germination. I kept them at a steady 75 degrees with the help of a heating pad and thermostat. All 18 showed progress of growth after 2 days of this germination stage.
12/23-12/25 2018
I built a sprouting box, it is a crude setup but for the time being it has to do.
I mixed a substrate as follows to start:
1 part pearlite
1 part worm castings
2 parts coco coir
+Root starter
I planted the seeds and gave them a good water. 13/18 broke through overnight, and by the end of the first day, 16 were visible. 2 had molded due to stuck seed caps, but the show must go on!
By the end of today, 14/16 have developed a small set of true leaves along with the cot's. They are about 3/4" tall.
I also am beginning to strengthen them by adding a small fan to the box for a half hour twice a day. I will extend that time as they grow.
Here is a crude screenshot of my spreadsheet. Color coded based on how each is progressing. I use this to keep track of each seed so I can accurately choose 2 mothers to harvest clones from.
