Grandpa Tokin Grows GG4 & ASD In RDWC With Cree LED

What do you expect the yield to be from your 2 plants?

I run dwc, formally with hps and Mars led. 4oz average per plant is my minimum goal. Below that is a failure for my needs. Depending on the strain, photo vs auto, environment etc, I see no reason why a newbie can't easily do the same. Sub up to a couple dwc journals and get a feel for it, then jump in. :)

Geez Lucas.....make me feel incompetent. Three years in soil, I only got four ounces out of one plant. You guys and your hydro excellence..... That's ok, I'm really happy growing, and I figure I'll learn to do better. Talking to bobrown14 yesterday he shared he'd recently pulled nine zips from one plant in soil. *sigh*

Someday. :battingeyelashes: :green_heart:

Hate it when pH drops. Another reason I quit chasing it altogether. Hopefully this link will give you some info that helps along the way.

Hey that’s good info right there! Thanks Rifleman! I’ve been doing this for a few years and I love learning new stuff. For the most part I like the idea of not chasing ph. I just got this Blue labs monitor and it shows me ph constantly. I think it’s giving me another OCD tick...:volcano-smiley: LOL

I gotta learn to chill... thanks my friend.

Today’s update is fairly straightforward. I checked the res and they drank a couple gallons and ate a little overnight:

I mixed up a batch of my 4-4-4 mix with a shot of bud candy in 3 gallons of RO:

After a few minutes everything looks pretty good. Tomorrow is res change day! I’ll take as many pictures as I can. Enjoy!

It's a great sign! Since I started my grow I've woken up a few times in the middle of the night to see 4:20 on my clock. I kid you not!
I stopped chasing PH on my dwc as well. I start at 5.8 and when I check as long as it isn't higher than 6.2 or lower than 5.5 I don't stress. Only once on one plant early on did I have an issue for a day PH related.

I've been using both Advanced and Remo Nutrients, my own lazy mix and forget method. The only thing that gets adjusted is the water I use to top off the buckets. 1ml pH down per gallon. I change the water every wk to 10 days, maybe longer if everything is running copacetic. :)

Awww Susan, you know there is a reason you never see me harvest from soil. Natural born killer I am. If you were to run one bucket plant under enough light you'd be growing trees. It really is simple. ;)

Welcome friends! Today’s update is all about res/bucket change. It’s really straightforward and not very interesting really. The first thing I did was drain the res and buckets using another pump. In my setup I run the hose, connected to the pump, to the sink and let her drain as far as it will go. After unplugging the chiller, pump, etc.

I then used my little siphon to get as much as possible out. I did not attempt to clean anything, just draining.

I mixed up 16 gallons of nutes and RO water and filled her back up. Plugged everything back in and she seems to be back up and running with no issues. The only minor hiccup was I had to suck on the chiller out-tube slightly to siphon enough fluid to prime the pump.

I’m a 1/2 day early on the beginning of week 2, but this puts me on a Monday res change schedule if I decide to change every seven days. I’ll play that by ear, but that’s the plan for now. The GG is stretching already, but they both look healthy. I’m satisfied.

The entire res change took an old guy, with the sniffles, and moving slowly about 40 minuets to accomplish. Hell, I spend more time just sitting there staring at them. Have a 420 day!

Awesome work ! Cold still hanging around eh?

Geez, we're even running the same pumps. lol. Mines the 550 gph model. I'm also admiring your wiring in the second picture.

The GG is stretching very noticeably. I see you can adjust the lights over each plant separately so different heights on the plants isn't going to be a problem. As far as watching them for longer than it takes to do a res change...well, I'm on the other oar brother.

Thanks! I’m feeling better, but still not 100%. It’s not the flu though, so I’m okay with that. How you feeling?

You’re not supposed to point out my wiring rig job. It’s a work in progress! LOL

I like that YOU are on the other oar. It’s good to have great company. :circle-of-love:

Looks great gramps hell of a set up your running . Did you do the build on cob lights?

Thanks Dab! I did one, but I bought the other pre made. Once I had one in my hands I realized it’s not that difficult to do. I thought it was much more work, but after watching a few videos I figured I’d give it a shot. It’s pretty easy if you spend the cash on quality parts.

Here’s a nice surprise. I was in the grow looking for something and in my little cupboard I noticed a jar of weed and liquid...what!?

Turns out I had started some Green Dragon Tincture a few months ago and completely forgot about it. I was told to take one and see what happens...Bwahaha! I naturally took four! Feeling pretty decent at the moment. :thumb:

Morning update for the beginning of week 2 from flip. Yesterday was bucket change day so you know what that means right? Well, if the old stoner is doing things right then that means there’s not much to do in the garden today. Which is good, cause I gots lots a chores to do before first snowfall.

I see they fed a little in the dark. Actually, things are looking marvelous; in my biased opinion naturally. :circle-of-love: Have a 420 day!
