Hedz' Perlite Q-Line

Hey All,
Been awhile since I posted anything. Mostly, lurking and liking. Our last 2 grows have been hempy style with straight perlite. A while back I was inspired by Aseino Quad-Line thread and we tried it with limited success. Love the concept. It’s been awhile since we attempted to document a grow - we’ll try again now and this time we'll try to follow through ’til the end.

Equipment
  • 2 - 4’ x 4’ ebb & flow trays (on skids with casters and draining into the grow room floor drain)
  • 12 litre Waste baskets for hempy grow pots. 12 litres is 3.17 gallons - the pots are approximately 2/3 full with perlite mixture. So, approximately 2 gallons or 8 litres of grow medium.
  • Chloramine / chlorine filter on grow room water supply
  • 2 - quad led setups ( 1 is 550 W, other is 650 W). Dehumidifier draining to floor drain
  • Exhaust Fan
  • Circulation Fans
  • Room heater as necessary
  • Room monitor for temperature, humidity, vpd & light intensity
  • IPM - H2O2 spray 1 part to 4 parts water.
  • REMO Nutrients - this will be our third grow with Remo. Very happy

Strains
  • 1 x Alien Technology (fem) 56-63 days of flower
  • 3 x MK-Ultra (fem) 56-63 days of flower
  • 1 x MK-Ultra Bubble (fem) 56-63 days of flower
  • 4 regular seeds of Northern Lights X Dark Devil. We produced these last summer by mistake. We’ll see how many females we get.
  • Germinated the seeds on damp paper towel after soaking the seeds in water overnight. Grown in Solo cups
The 4 reg seeds were germinated (May 21st) 20 days ago, the Alien Tech and MK-U’s germinated (May 15th) 26 days ago.
We started the Q-line process on the oldest group - 2 days ago @ 24 days from germination. When they were transplanted, we located the 3rd and 4th nodes at an angle to make the best of the rectangular baskets (for training purposes. Will do the same with the NLxDD soon.

Topped 2 Northern Lights X Dark Devil auto above the 4th node just this morning - 1st photo. Stripped the first & second nodes, the 2 remaining NLxDDa will wait an extra day or two to be topped (2nd photo). The Alien is recovering the best so far from being topped & stripped (3rd).

Can you explain more about how you're doing the hempy in terms of piping and feeding? Your setup looks cool.
Sure, no problem. We are about to transplant from the Solo cups to the waste baskets tomorrow. I'll take some pictures and explain things. From trying different methods over the past number of years - I like growing the hempy method the best.

Yes! Please! I'm very curious <3

Topped the 2 remaining Northern Lights X Dark Devil auto, got them ready for quadlining and transferred to final pots. The following photos show how we manage our “hempy” buckets for transplant. For the quadline procedure, check out Aseino’s “Quad Squad“ grow journal on this site. We use Remo Nutes and follow the directions

I’ll post the next group of photos here in their proper order. For baskets this size, we add 1.5-2.0 litres of the nutes to moisten the perlite for 5 minutes before releasing the drain hole to the next basket
