Deciding when to harvest your plants is a matter of personal preference and desired effects, I prefer to ensure their is some percentage of amber trichomes present when I harvest. Trichomes are at peak potency when they are cloudy, your plant continues growing until the trichomes mature and begin to turn amber. I harvest my cannabis plants by trichome maturity. You need a 30x jewelers loupe to see the trichomes and judge when to harvest. Most people harvest from 5%-30% amber trichomes. Harvest at 5%-15% amber trichomes for a "head high" energetic effect and harvest at 30%-50% amber trichomes for a "body stone" sedative effect strain dependent.

John do you use LEDs right from when the seed pops or do you use different lighting for the first couple weeks? I'm germinating my seeds tomorrow I'm going to put them in a cup of water for a day then straight to the rapid rooter squares I was just wondering what lights you use right from the start?

I have used Compact Florescent Lights, 4' Florescent lights and am currently using a full spectrum Lush Lighting Dominator 2x LED light panel to illuminate my vegetative area. I can report much more increased vegetative growth from using the Lush Lighting Dominator 2x versus the Florescent lights I was using in my vegetative area. The Black Widow cannabis plants have been under Florescent lighting for germination, Florescent lights for early vegetative growth, the Lush Lighting Lumenator 2x for vegetative growth and flowering.

what's the actual wattage of the unit you own? black dog leds have rated distances on their site:

Total right now I have 3 Mars ll 400s 2 are for flower and 1 is veg spectrum and I have 4 solar specs 2 are the 260s 1 flower 1 veg and 2 150s 1 flower and 1 veg spectrum. I might get 1 more solar spec the new one they just came out with Victor gave me a good price on it I'll probably see how these work out first and then decide on getting it. I'm just trying to figure out witch one to use for seeds the solar spec panels are really powerful so I might use the weaker Mars ll so I don't bleach the leafs
