I have to disagree. I think all strains came from the same mom so things should be equal there. In every other conceivable way the Hydro LED is the underdog. Lower cost, lower watts, and I think important, this is irish first grow with the Hydro, he's got one under his belt with Prosource. If the Prosource doesn't handily beat the Hydro, or if it's even close, I'd go with the Hydro and if I'm that concerned add a 63w and still be less $$ and pretty close to = watts. Adding another Hydro light than brings up the discussion of who's got the bigger "sweet spot". How many plants can I get in the sweet spot of 1 - 180w vs. 1 - 126w? Under 1 - 126w AND 1 - 63w vs 1 - 180w?

I think you make a good point regarding the lower wattage, particulary from the stance of lowered electrical costs.

However the 126+63 are more expensive together than the 180, not less, (which I'd expect since you have double hardware etc.).

$425+$250 vs $495

Where can you find the 180w for $495?

LED Grow Lights from ProSource Worldwide - LED Grow Lights w/ 5-Band Tri-Spectrum design.

$699 from this listing. so the 2 hydro's would be $75 more.

re: LED GROW TEST. 126W hydro grow led VS. 180W

Hey OBX: Well not exactly! LOL! A little more thought than that! :)

The Light Housing below is made of 3 parts, the main part is a "Heatsink" I can buy by the foot, the Angles of the faces are 20 degrees to help focus or use the LED lights 120 degree lenses. They would be paired in Red/Blue in each Valley. They are on different wavelengths so I'm not sure if they will cancel one another or not. I will have to Machined it, but with a bridgeport that's a Non-issue. The PITA part is drilling all the DAMN Holes all 1050 of them. The Heatsink holds 14 set's of 50/50 red and blue 3.6 watt per 70 LED chains. There's 15 faces on the bottom the center face will have individual Infra-red LED's.

I have all these parts, Computer Fan, heatsink, Sockets, and Aluminum, and hope I can pick the lights up for around $3.99ea for a 70 LED chain. then I will have about $60 bucks into it.

The second part is a piece of Sheet Aluminum Folded/bent on a break. The 3 holes on each side is for standard light sockets, for 6 x 23W CFLs 3000k and 6500k to be used depending on Veg or Bloom.

The Large shade is Polished Aluminum to deflect the Light back into the Chamber, and collect heat, as there's a Coumpter Fan in the top that is Ducted/vented to the top of the STG. The ends of the Light will be Capped as to pull heat from under the shade.

I am running the STG Chamber at exceptable Temps now with 6 x 23W CFL's, these Cheap (after X-Max sale) lights will add hopefully 55 to 60 watts of light in the desired Spectrum without adding much heat!

The REALLY trick Part would be to mount it on a center Bearing, and use a Automotive wiper motor to rotate the light back and forth 150 degrees or so! Then the light could be more even in th chamber!

Dimensions are 8" x 24" for the Main part of the light, the Shade will be be determined by the STG space available!

Yeah just a little thought has gone into this! :)

Which side do you think is doing better so far?

re: LED GROW TEST. 126W hydro grow led VS. 180W

Thanks Settining Sun! The engineering is the easy part, building it is the hard part, and then it may not add to what I need! :)

Honestly all these lights in one configuration or another are made in China, we need the MFG back here in the USA to help our "Out of Work" countryman! The housing is simple and if done wisely the raw component/LED's could be bought from there and assembled into lights in someone's garage for a profit to feed there children!

MFG is what I do, that drawing was created in 30mins, needs refinement of course, but the doable as is for a Prototype!

Thought about centering the LED in the Valley, as the 120 spread of light would then be reflected back to the center! Lots of Ideas! $$$$$$$$$ is always th problem!

re: LED GROW TEST. 126W hydro grow led VS. 180W

what would you guys say would be the breaking point between total yeild between both light on witch one to buy? 1/4oz? or what do u think would be far?

so if the 180w got a 1/4oz or lless more per plant then the 126w do u think i would be best to just get the 126w? and anything more just stick with the 180w? or even if i get a 1/4oz more still stick with the 180w?

Grams per watt maybe?
