They really can't be beaten for the flowering stage in my opinion. HPS is just great.

To be fair though, this plant has been on 12/12 since Christmas Day... I just don't count the first week or so as flowering days.

I ve never grown with HPS or any classic light. I started growing blurple mars 2 and had 3 grows that was very pleasing. Now i switched to white Chips on Board from Bridgelux and Citizen. They spit photons all over the place without noticeable heat. I guess the 390W in my 2x3 is equivalent to a Brand new HPS Bulb of about 500W. Wondering what my yield limits in terms of space and lights are

I think you can mimic that HPS when you add some Far Red that only turns on for couple of minutes after lights out. Exactly that red glow from the heated metal part in the bulb.

I only flower under hps. Currently i have two mothers in there that vegged since 9/16. They are becoming monsters. 2 plants fill 4×3×7. Still have head room but they are a sea of green with only two plants. Since i flipped them about 9 days ago. Thry have stretched and made alot of lateral branches. I am doing a slow def during this time because its just to much leaves. And they are monster leaves. HUGE! !! So the last week i take a lil off every 3rd day tom I'll take a lil bit more off and then I'll let her run wild. I dont lollipop to much because i use popcorn in oils. So to me thhe popcorn is useful. I purge with butane then let evaporate. Make sure you do this outside not next to any flame or any electronic equipment. Thats how people explode. But i have never ever had a problem i only get great oils that i personally make THICK!

thats last runs oils. They start out as dab but then i break it down to put into oil cartridge. Its my favorite way to take my meds. I like flowers also but only vape

Pax 2 and its amazing. 03 grams is 20 to 30 hits depending on heat setting. I have numerous vapes this one is new and not expensive. And it connects Bluetooth to cell phone for temp setting and booster button for when hitting

it's called vapium. I even have a desktop vape made by a person that worked for NASA. Its called the Herbilizer, it does concentrate and flower. It fills bags or a tube that you and rip it thru. I dont have any pics of it but google it. It was worth every penny

We are now entering flowering week 3 - day 15.

She has really started putting on some bud structure, so I am going to remove any of the lower growth that isn't going to produce much in the way of buds.

I'm also now going to have to do a bit more training by moving some of the main colas around, and opening up the plant further. I'll do a nice bit of defoliation at the same time to increase the airflow within the plant.

Watering tonight will include some canna zyme and a shot of pk 13/14. The zyme to help break down the dead roots at the edge of the fabric pot, and the pk 13/14 to give her buds a bit of a kick.

I will upload some pics after I've finished the torture but until then.

The veg tent- we have pre-flowers on one of the autos. I'm just going to let them flower under the LED on veg setting (about 200 watts) just to see what it does

Do you know if breeders estimates are from the switch to 12/12 or when they start showing sex. I waited until I seen sex before flipping to flowering. I am new to growing and was curious what your logic is for not counting the first week. Thank you.

Breeders will generally count flowering days from the first sign of buds after switching to 12/12.

Showing sex before flipping to 12/12 is just allowing the plant to be sexually mature before initiating flowering. It can help the plant reach its full potential but it's not really necessary.

I don't count the first week as it allows me to count the flowering period by the breeders recommendation, although it all comes down to how the plant looks which decides harvest time.

Thanks Mono. Sounds like great logic to me. The breeder I use doesn't explain how they come up with their estimates. Maybe that's why so many say it usually takes a week or two longer than the breeders estimated time.

So I got about 1/3 of the way through before I gave up for the night...

I raised her 12 inches so I can get in underneath the canopy as flowering continues. And removed quite a bit of lower growth.

Began opening her up with low stress training, and some super cropping.

Would be much easier if light were on during the day...

I find it so much easier to just have one plant in veg when some are flowering, and then start kicking myself when the one, now huge, plant is flowering.

Your right, it's a heck of a lot of work most of the time haha

Flowering day 16 and the training is over. I'm pretty happy with the way she looks, and we have buds filling pretty much all of in the 16 square feet we have available.

I think if I'm going to pull 1kg from a single plant under the 600 watt hps then this is the plant that will do it.

Watering tonight was 8 litres mixed with canna coco A and B @ half strength.

Coco is due to be delivered tomorrow so the veg plants will get a much needed transplant. I will also get a chance to pick monos monster 5.0...

Anyway, here she is on day 16 -
