Seedsman Comparo Purple Ghost Candy By Schnookie

First in the door. That's a first. I saw in @StoneOtter 's thread that your 3 ladies have sprouted already, Schnookie. Could you please tell me whether today or yesterday was their first day?

Ok, I guess I gotta get started on this lol. Turns out I've got covid (for the 2nd time) despite having had 5 shots up until 5 months ago. Whoodathunkit?

Purple Ghost Candy. Thanks @SeedsMan again and @420 for this fun comparative. Details of this wonderful plant can be found here: Cannabis Seeds for Sale since 2003 | Seedsman USA

Indoor-flowering takes 70 - 84 days producing 500 - 600 gr/m2. Outdoors in northern latitudes growers can expect to obtain between 700 - 900 gr. from each plant with harvest time during the middle of October. A notable feature of the buds is the very large, golden resin crystals which become apparent very early during flowering.

Anyway...started these 3 seeds in some filtered water at room temperature (66) and swirled around a couple times the next 20 hours and then put into paper towel soaked and squeezed from the same water and into the cup for a day in the tent to get warm. The plan is to have at least one of these grow in the garden this summer. I've got BIG BIG plans for the backyward as I'm making an orchard. Already have a noah's ark of trees: 2 apple (one name Jonathan for my son and a granny smith), 2 pear, 2 peach, 2 cherry, 4 almond, 5 blueberry, 4 grape vines, and a dozen black/red/white/golden/raspberry bushes plus 3 kiwi which I don't will return (deer liked them) and a russian pomegranite. Still looking for the partridge...

I've seen a few PGC seedlings; some look lanky some don't
Mine are a tad lanky at day 3 but they aren't falling over so I guess it's all good
I tend to grow fairly short stocky plants. I think it's the brightness of the light and the strength of the fan. They are getting 8k lumens from the 90w Mars Hydro and the fan is on all the time.

Thursday update: They're still alive! :)

They got a watering yesterday and a sprinkle of Geoflora Veg on the surface. Next watering (tomorrow maybe) the fert will sink into the soil.

Bottom right you can see one of the two new BBCBD X CS babies that will go into the garden too. Hopefully female.

And I've not forgotten about these guys! They are now at 16 days above soil.

I'm becoming of the opinion to put them all outside at this point. I have planned most of the garden in my mind, I just should probably actually measure it and write down the places everything's going. I've got a bed of the 3 sisters (corn, beans, squatch-etc), a bed which will have a couple of these girls in between that one and some blue berry bushes. I also am planting Jerusalem artichoke which hopefully will provide some nice cover from the south to block my neighbor (who prolly can't see that far anyway, but...)

And these 3 BBCBD X CS will also go into the garden alongside the PGC. I suppose I could think about a small pollination if I get a male but it may be too quick. We'll see. Males will only last as long as necessary.

Geez, I thought I had updated this...

I up-potted these girls this week and moved them into the big tent on the 16/8 schedule which should be pretty close to astronomical twilight, or "darkness" as most call it, around the first weekend in May when I hope to get these into the ground. I bought a 1/2 dozen 10g grow bags too, so I will probably mix it up between 2 in the raised bed and one in the grow bag or vice versa or whatever and there's also the stowaway of whatever strain and the 3 BBCBD X CS that are also tagging along. I had put a dozen or two old seeds from the 90's into water and paper towel but they didn't do anything after almost a week so they went out into the backyard too. I'll keep an eye out in case one pops up. I've also got another 2-6 dozen random seeds from my last few grows, both planned and unplanned, that I expect to send out into the wild backyard unattended except to make sure they get covered by soil. If it grows, I'll probably tend to it in some fashion or let them be decoys for the bugs and pests to take instead.

Monday after up pot and watering (PGC2 got up-potted the day before and is in a real gallon size pot whereas the other 2 are in something smaller, maybe 3L?).

And today they are looking much happier and have grown a bit too!

Goodluck your babies are looking happy :goodluck: :tommy:

Getting a little long between posts, but not much has happened. They're nice and green and growing. The tomato got partially buried and dried out which is why she looks so sad. :(

I up potted the other 3 little BBCBD X CS (gonna call it Hulk Slippers, lol) and they're settling in nicely with the Purple Ghost Candy. Things are moving along. These 7 will be outside in the garden in like 2 weeks I guess! Gotta get my shit together!

Amazing what 4 days can do! I added a bag of lady bugs on friday and forgot to take out the yellow sticky. o_O 😖 Lost about half of them. :(

HOWEVER, the rest are going to town in both tents, finding all the nasties and eating 'em up!

20240422_094725.jpg

Then I chopped the tops of the PGC this morning as they are gonna be monsters I think and they need to be reined in before going in the garden (not that they won't get HUGE in the garden!!)
20240422_094830.jpg

Then on the side of my house is the poppy field...just starting to bloom
20240421_170155.jpg

Will have more pics when more blooms come out..there's gonna be hundreds! Woohoo!

Oh no! I had a mantis oothca that hatched overnight and opened it to let a few out in the small tent which was ok, but then I dropped it while at the big tent so there's dozens of baby praying mantis' cruizing around. If they get big enough they can eat the lady bugs...they were looking a little lazy not going after the flies though, so maybe the new predators will take over.

So I saw the first ladybug-mantis interaction, and since they're now still about the same size, it was a standoff. LOL I'm thinking by the time the mantis are big enough to eat a ladybug they'll be outside already.

They seem to be keeping all but a few flies in check. I've watch the mantis eyeing them, so maybe they're just getting a little stronger before they can chase flies.

The plants are enjoying the attention.

And these guys look like wingless mosquitoes at this point! Once they get a little bigger I hope they'll be taking out all the nasties. I'm gonna be putting more seedlings in here soon too. The tobacco is starting to call for thinning.
