Well I decided to inoculate some rice bags using the UB’s ready rice tek. Pulled 3 syringes out of the box blind. All from the new board sponsor @Spore Genetics . Most likely I’ll run them monotub but was also thinking a PFTek over perlite in one big tub. Let see how it goes. Glove up and sterilize.
Next week we will inoculate some rye bags with 3 more different strains

I'm in. Thinking of using this tek for my first try in a long, long time. Looks like it's almost foolproof.

We will see. Seems almost too easy lol. my only concern is the amount of moisture in the rice bags. Seems well over 100%.
I’ve had very good luck with the all in ones, mono and pf. If this works it will save $$$$

I put them in a homemade still air box. Sterilize, inject wipe with iso then tape over hole. Put them in my brooder. We will see in a few days I’d think !!!

Score-ola! Amazon just dropped the price on UB Ready Rice 6 packs so I ordered. I got 2 for less than the 12 pack price. Got micropore tape too, so I'm almost ready to go!

So I just checked on the bags today. Can’t see anything yet but there is definitely action as they’re making gas for sure. Thinking I need to give them some more FAE. Will see Tuesday. Maybe I’ll give them some more ventilation.

I don't see any micropore tape so I'm curious, @Slapalottapuss, have you added gas ex holes to the bag?

Yes I have. I waited a week to get some CO2 buildup then use a poker to melt a hole in the tops of the bags. Then cover with tape. I just checked on them and it looks like they’re doing well. Not seeing anything but it’s tough to tell with how moist the rice is. I’m going to order some rye spawn bags to inoculate with some of the other strains I got from @Spore Genetics
Thinking about doing mono tubs but with multiple trays in each one. Like 3 individual liners in each tub. Each liner would have its own spawn and substrate.
On a different note. I have been wondering about building a UV filter type flow hood. Draw the air in though a high grade particle filter. Then it would pass though a channeled sealed plenum with UVC sterilizing lighting then out through a cheap hepa.

Seeing some action on the SSKS bay. Think I waited too long to ventilate the bags. They’re moving along now.

So I just re checked the UB tek bags and the SSKS is definitely inoculated and the mycelium is showing at the clear bottom of the bag.
The blue meanie and red boy bags aren’t showing mycelium growth but are definitely producing gas and they feel like very solid and dense cakes.

quick hump day update.
The SSKS is looking great as pictured below.
The Blue Meanie and Red Boy look like they’re getting moving just can’t get a picture that shows it. Probably by Friday it would be more visible.

SSKS is still cruising and multiplying.
The other 2 are taking their time. My atmospherics are definitely not perfect and the UB rice tek is new to me. Going to keep them going but will inoculate 2 new bags Friday if no action is seen.
