1st Hydro - LED Grow With Crop King White Widow From Seed

Looking really good in there Bam, although I would say that those won't be ready in 2 weeks. More like 3 - 4 weeks.

Update day 38 of flower
Well the flower tent looks fantastic. I am looking at some serious swell and new pistils on the buds. That is soooooo good. I was starting to think that this was a lot of work for such little nugs. Now they are starting to get big. I really hope that trend continues for a couple of weeks or more. :) Xmas is coming and I am thinking nugs as stocking stuffers. Anybody think that is a bad idea?

The veg tent, well...... all I will say is that at least they are not dead. They are growing and they are green but they do not look good. I really want to change how I am vegging but do not have the space to get a bigger tent and have a more user/plant friendly environment. So I was only planning to give them a couple of days in the flower tent as recovery before flipping them to 12/12 but I may have to give them a week just to get them in perfect health for the flip. It is not a big deal, I just really wish that I had better anticipated the challenges of this tent setup. Oh well, live and learn and grow. :)

So here is some strictly bud porn pics. I took these with the lights out because the flash or just plain white light makes the crystals stand out more and gives a better shot. Please enjoy :)

First up is a Tut cola

Next one is a PPP colas

and this one is a WW cola

These next are of some WW and PPP popcorn buds in the interior or just under the canopy.

I am really liking what I am seeing when I look under the canopy. I would really like to add some "interior lighting" to help the baby nugs grow. I have been talking to Cogreen and am in the process of looking around for ideas and products. I am thinking that adding some direct light in the middle of the plant's bud zone (which for my grow is between the 18 and 30 inch mark) this would help the hundreds of little baby nugs. But maybe because they are on smaller lesser branches they are destined to be little baby nugs. I really do not know enough about how a plant grows and supports all of these side branches to be able to say that more light in the middle zone of the plant will make more nugs. If anybody has any experience with this or has seen a journal that has really done this, please speak up. Yes I know that light bars on the sides of tents can and do help with production, but I am talking about the interior not the periphery of the exterior of the canopy. Thanks.

Thanks TB! You really think 3 - 4 more weeks? Why? I would be fine with that (really happy as that means the nuggs would be huge) but I am not sure how to tell until I see amber trichs.

Looking better ever time I stop here (as it should)... You're doing a great job man. +rep (if I can)

Thanks brother Cogreen! and so do your girls when I see them. :Namaste:

Hi, Bram! I love your photos -- your bud shot of the WW is great! And that undergrowth photo is really very beautiful. Like being under the canopy of a forest -- a delicious forest of giant popcorn buds :)

 Thanks GG! I feel the same way when I go in there and have to dig under the plants to get to my res to take samples and add nutes and water. :) lol It really gives the impression of being in a forest only now instead of pine smell I get this funky a@@ citrus and skunk smell. Like sweet and rotten at the same time. :)

No it is Dr. Krippling's "Puff Puff Passout". It is supposed to be ~20% THC, very narcotic couchlock kind of high. It is a 7 - 9 week flowering plant that has the potential of 650 gr/m2 and can grow tall. The taste is supposed to be citrus with some skunk and something else that I can not remember. Also it is a mostly sativa but not by a lot, something like 60/40. That is all I remember from the marketing. I will say that it is very crystally and does smell like rotten citrus fruit, think lemons, oranges and grapefruit. Also very sweet. It and the WW are very tall, much taller than the Tut. I have to say that while I am not sure about the yield yet, that by just eyeballing it, I believe that I will hit 300 plus grams per plant from each of the PPP. The big yield plant should have been the Tut. However the Tut and the WW were not getting sufficient light in the beginning of flower and the PPP just stretched over the top of them. PPP 1 and 4 are def the strongest plants in the tent. They are very big (PPP 4 is just over 3.5 feet wide and almost 6 feet tall).

because I have my buckets in two rows four buckets long and the canopy is so high, I have a large volume of space in the interior of the plants. While I have many tops at the canopy, just as many or more never made it to the canopy plus there are a lot of bud sites between the 18 inch and 30 inch from the top. Now I know I am just being greedy (hey it has taken me 4 months to get where I am now), but I would love to come up with a light solution for the interior for the next grow. There will be 7 PPP plants in that one and another 12 inches of height available to grow into. So If I have nugs growing in the top 3 feet of the plant, with light in the interior below the canopy, I should have an epic (think 10lbs) amount of bud from my 9.72 m2 footprint. :) Just something to tinker with :)

Update day 39 in Flower
Ok so I did not have to do much today with the grow. PPM is 750 and the pH is 5.8. The PPM is a little on the lite side. I have some wierdness in the leaves. It seems to be burnt tips and Cal/Mag issues. So I have been feeding them a lot less and I did give them a healthy dose of Cal/Mag 2 days ago. I will continue to monitor it. Last couple of weeks just been getting some inconsistent results among the plants. I will say it now to any that attempt a DWC grow with one res for all of the grow sites: Use a single strain. I am now trying to dial in my grow at a very critical last stage and all three strains seem to want something different to eat. I am glad that I only went with taking clones from the Tut and PPP for the next grow. They seem to be the most closely in tune to what they want and when. The WW looks very beat up by the conditions of the leaves. IMO. However this is not to say that the buds are not growing. They are growing gang buster right now. The big cola of PPP4 is one that I have been measuring every day this week. I am measuring it at the same spot (about one inch below the top of the cola) just to verify what I think that I am seeing. I also wanted to get some data on how fast they swell up. On Monday the cola was at 1.75 inches wide, Tuesday was 1.92 inches, and today it was 2.1 inches. It is the biggest cola in the tent but not the widest. That belongs to the WW. I am going to track a couple of other nugs to see if this is going on in the smaller tops (the tops of side branches that have smaller colas). I am very happy thinking that I could have a 4 inch wide 10 inch long cola!

Veg tent is still alive and growing. So that is a win as well.

I took a couple of pics as soon as light went out. I have to say that I wish I had a way to measure the thc content. I am only going off of the eyeball method, but I can see a very large increase in the amount of crystals covering just about everything. Obviously the crystal density is greatest closest to the nugs, but it is most dramatic when looking at the "snow" covering the leaves. Just very pretty. I took another sample leaf to look at under a scope and they are starting to form more heads on the stalks. 100% clear still but that will/should start to change in a week or so. After that build up I wish I had some better pics but here you go. They do look better in person.

Just want to say thanks to everyone that has been following me in this journal and to everyone that has encouraged/helped me. It really does help stay motivated to keep the journal going and the help has saved my grow a few times. I miss OMU and hope to see him back around soon. I hope that Cogreen is doing well and will be back soon. I hope that FE will return soon as well, he has a lot of ladies waiting on him.

Thanks everyone. I hope that you continue to enjoy the journal until it's conclusion. I think we are in the home stretch and will be looking at a chop in the first or second week of December. I always wanted to finish this grow before the holidays and it really looks like it will be on time.

Although I'm nowhere near as experienced as alot of members here, I do have a few grows under my belt and to me, it looks like roughly 4 weeks to the finish. Of course, you will need to check the trichs to be certain, but I'm fairly confident they wont be done in 2 weeks.

As you say though, that is a good thing. Those buds will double in size.

Some nice photos you posted there bud. Everything looking really good in there.

Thanks TB! I really appreciate your input and observation. I used overdrive this past weekend when I was renuting the res. After your posts and consideration of the size of the buds, I will go back to using Big Bud for another week and then switch to Overdrive. Thanks also for the kind words.
Wow... I lost your journal for a while. After not checking in for a couple weeks... Wow! Wow! Wow! I'm going to look you up in the future. I've got to try me one of these! Keep it up!
LOL. Thanks Spitz! I loved the pics of your PK and everything else. I looking forward to seeing what they did for you as I have the same seeds from Crop King and am really thinking of growing them in Feb after the next grow. Please post your yield on them as I am dieing to know! :) Also Thanks for finding your way back! You suffered through this journal back when I was screwing up and worrying too much about everything, so now that we are on the bud porn and anticipation phase it is more fun and rewarding! :)

Hey Bama,
Thanks for the kind words man; I didn't go anywhere yet, and hopefully I don't have to go anywhere... But seriously; I really appreciate it.

I was secretly hoping PPP = Pure Power Plant as I have a handful of those seeds I was considering for my next grow. But your PPP sounds like an awesome strain.

And wow -- your plants are looking impressive. Can't wait to see them fatten up as you head into the final stages here.

Ok day 42 in flower
I am not overly happy with the health of my fowering plants. I see def in the leaves and there is a touch of pythium in the res. I can not dismantle my system and clean it out because of the two layers of screens that I am using. So I am using more DM zone. I also did another res dump today. I just did one on Sunday. I only have a few more weeks so if I wind up dumping every 5 days then that is fine. It is a little wasteful as far as nutes go, but it makes me feel better. The other thing is with three strains I think that I am not going to be able to maintain a perfect nute base for them all. I really hope it does not affect my quality or yield very negatively. I am probably gonna see some loss but as I do not have a baseline to judge from, it really is something that is only going to bother me a little bit.

Overall I am super happy with what is going on in that tent! The nugs are getting bigger. The leaves are getting frostier. The smell is getting danker. :) This week has seen some very impressive growth in the nuggs. It does not really come out in the pics so much but believe me, I have been wearing out my tape measure, there was some growth in there. A tenth of an inch per day on some sites for a couple of days and then it slowed down. I attribute this to new flowers forming and putting out pistils, and then it stops while the flower gets dense and then will pick up when more flower sites develop and more pistils sprout. There is some great exponential growth cause as the surface area of the nugget increases more flowers are able to be developed further increasing surface area, allowing even more flowers to develop! I love compounding interest and exponential growth! :)

(Calms down and tries to wipe the smile off of my face)
So there is also some good news in the veg tent as well. Only half the plants look like crap. Most of the plants are very large and have multiple sites for clones. Even the baby Tut in there is starting to get some side branching growing. Not much but it is a start. The next couple of weeks will see them get huge. I am going to have to give them a big haircut soon. My flower tent is already pretty big but I do not think that it will be able to hold all of these two month old clones! :) I am really looking forward to the next grow to see how big these girls are going to get.

So I have some pics with the lights on this time. :) I wanted to show some of the reasons why I am so impressed with the growth of the nugs. Some of these bad boys are very large. I can say that I have never in my life gotten a bag of colas, so seeing them with my own eyes is very fun! :) I also included a couple of lights out pics. I just took them. I like to look at the frost! :) I know I am being a bit repetitive but please forgive me. :)

Should be totally based on volume they drink... Atleast that is what i thought. Like if it is a 10 gallon set up when they have transpired 10 gallons then it is time to flush and redo them.. But I have just really been doing it a week to 10 days based on stage of flower...

Just what I am doing not really sure though... Could be better more often but didn't want to waste a crap load of nutes if it wasn't needed.

Holy shit Bama, you have all kinds of goodness going on in that flower tent

I'm excited for you man; getting closer by the day! I just wonder WTF you're going to do with all that bud you havest :) You're going to need a storage locker just to store it all ;)

It would be cool to see a pic of one of those big colas with something next to it (like a bic lighter) for ref.

I agree Comrade, dump the res every 5 days to keep the roots in check until harvest.
Things are looking very nice though :bongrip:
Vlad

Yeah I agree. Just not worth the risk at this point and you are only talking a few dollars max in nute loss.
Thanks for the compliments Vlad! :)
