Aberration Goes Ker Bloom! - Perpetual

Re: Aberration Goes ker Bloom! - 2009

My only advice here Ab... keep those flouros as close to them as you can. Get those little girls as bushy as possibly. nodes nodes nodes nodes nodes.

I am sure you are already aware :p

Are you going to LST them? Are they feminized?

I don't have enough time for LST. I barely have time for what I do. Would be nice. As for feminized, I have no idea, but probably not. I just have two seeds of this strain given to me by a friend, so it's just a pot-luck. Lol. I only have one germinated. It's mostly free practice in preparation for the seeds I'm about to order.

yeah i feel the same way. My wonder woman's are starting to kick into gear now so I'm no longer worried about them

I figure if I can get her past about 2" tall I'll be good to go.

Although now it occurs to me that she could be a he. I won't know for a while.

Re: Aberration Goes ker Bloom! - 2009

I don't bother LST'ing now either, too much to keep up on, and having string everywhere becomes a chore to manage. I've been topping all of my clones right after they show new growth, it works well for increasing the yield and they only take like 2 days to recover from it.

I may tie out these Lavenders that are going into bloom in about a week. I need to spread them out. Same goes for that really big young Blue Dream in bloom. It needs to be opened up in the middle. I just have to avoid splitting the V.

But in general, LST seems like something I would do if I won the lottery and could quit my day job. ;) Topping, on the other hand, is a good friend of mine.

Great job ,,thanks for your hard work and posts

Thanks for dropping by. And thanks for the nice words. :tokin:

The oldest bloomers, BD.2A and G13xGB.2A, should come out of there tomorrow, but it hinges on space at the trimmers'. This is likely their last water. The Matanuskans are 16 days from harvest assuming all stays well. They get a couple more feeds and then it's flush-o-rama. The two young Blue Dreams will love all the space.

The Big G13xGBs in veg are raring to go to replace tomorrow's harvest. I may throw in the BBX with one of the Lavenders in a couple weeks when the MTs come out. L.2C is still just hanging on. She two inches tall and burned out. All the rest of the small veggers are 3 times as tall or more.

Looking at the clone trays I just look for roots in the holes on the bottom of the tray. Tonight I saw 2 BBX, 1 G13xGB, and 1 MT with one or more pristine white roots hanging out there. In 11 days. :cheesygrinsmiley: Can't complain about that.

hi mate seems like you have everything in hand over here ....as always great job.......i use pipe cleaners and twist them together.....then hook to branches and prise them apart...to allow more light in saves messing with string........im sure you know this.....just my 2 pennys worth...........be lucky weedtastic

Re: Aberration Goes ker Bloom! - 2009

Yeah that LSTing is a real chore....:Rasta: (Takes 5 minutes and maybe a couple 1 minute maintenance ties...) Longer to smoke the joint to get me ready. :hookah: But I think your yield is great...not sure it would help with your girls. I think it is situational and my situation mostly requires it.

Everything is looking great as usual though brother.

:peacetwo: my friend.

per plant lol

I'm with you, I think LST is a great method of training, I just personally find topping to be easier and less maintenance. I had a plant tied down to a pot really well, and then it was begging for a new pot.. So, it took more time removing all the strings than it took to repot her lol

Great idea with the pipe cleaners. That's what most of my tying amounts to - opening up the canopy to expose more bud sites to the light. Thanks for dropping in.

Yeah, my plants are pretty large, usually ending between 4 and 5 feet tall. I know it would help some, but I don't think it would make a huge difference for me to do the LST thing. Thanks for the compliment and :peace: to you as well.

I love topping. Done early it makes such a difference.

So tonight I chopped down BD.2A and G13xGB.2A, right on schedule. They were ready and I needed the space. The Blue Dream looks to top 3/4 lb as usual, but the G13 x Godbud may have gone light this time. She didn't fill in as much as I would have liked, but it was time regardless, so I take what I can get. I only need a couple or four ounces from her, so I guess the eight I expect I will actually get is more than sufficient. Still, I am a bit frustrated that I cannot get consistent numbers with the G13xGB like I do the BD.

BD --> :morenutes:

Hopefully I'll have the time to transplant the two big G13xGBs in veg to 21 gallon pots tomorrow and throw them into bloom. In two weeks, the Matanuskan should be ready. Woot!

Re: Aberration Goes ker Bloom! - 2009

Didn't get the G13xGBs transplanted. Maybe tomorrow.

I did make progress on the expansion. I re-routed electrical that was running through where I wanted to put a door, and I moved a garage outlet 16" so it wouldn't be behind a new 2x6 wall's end-board. I also cleared up a lot of space, which helped. I have a ceiling outlet to move and a 240 outlet to add and the "permanent" electrical will be done. The remaining electrical will be "temporary" style, outside the walls.

I have the 6" kraft-faced insulation for the walls. If I can get that last electrical done, I might get to start hanging insulation! Woot! :cheer:

The clones are popping roots all over now. I'll probably need to plant them next weekend. The seed hasn't cleared the surface, but the soil appears to be shifting, so hope prevails. I'm not in a hurry.

Re: Aberration Goes ker Bloom! - 2009

Still didn't get the G13xGBs transplanted. But I took pictures:

Here's an overview of bloom. Just four plants at the moment. The two tall ones are Blue Dream and the short ones are Matanuskan Thunderf&@k. There is a yardstick propped up in the Matty in the center for scale:

20101017Aber-01.jpg

First we look at BD.3A (Blue Dream, 34/70 days):

Here's BD.3B (Blue Dream, 34/70 days):

20101017Aber-07.jpg

20101017Aber-08.jpg

20101017Aber-09.jpg

Here's MT3.1C (Matanuskan Thunderf&@k, 57/70 days). She is needing a tie up, but she is staying out of the dirt and there's nothing to tie to except bud anyway so I'm letting her be. They are out soon. Both the Mattys are like this - it's normal for a Matty under my regime it seems:

Here's veg at the moment:

20101017Aber-17.jpg

Small girls, all going strong except L.2C who is still hanging on. I know she's doomed, but I don't have the heart to toss her yet:

The two mid sized Lavenders:

The clone trays:

I took 5 cuttings from BBX, placed them in Rapid Rooters with rooting gel and into a dome. Then I put BBX and G13xGB.2G into the bloom room. A new "day zero". They should take about 55 days.

Re: Aberration Goes ker Bloom! - 2009

Today I got the dry buds from last week's harvest. The G13xGB was fluffy, but the Blue Dream made nice big nugs all over. I got 232g (8.2 oz) smokeable from the G13xGB and 493.9g (17.4 oz) from the Blue Dream, making it necessary to give some (a lot) to another cardholder on the spot. Overall I am pleased. I got plenty. I just need to bulk up the G13xGB buds somehow so they aren't so airy.

The larger 21 gallon pots do not seem to have made much difference. I was doing this well in the 9 gallon pots. I'm probably going to waffle some on these big new pots. I'm not sure they are worth the extra soil, nutes, weight and time. I'm still deciding.

Edit: On reflection, I don't remember ever breaking 1 lb with a single plant except that Orange Cream I had, and it wasn't very good. It was hard to give away. And by 'hard to give away' I don't mean I found it hard to let go of it. I didn't want it. Neither did anyone else. It was OK, but OK is treated like barrel scrapings here. 45 oz between two plants, and most of it got thrown away. Shame.

But I digress, which is probably not good form in a postscript, but, hey, what can I say? I'm stoned. Anyway, this Blue Dream is definitely worth smoking. To get a lb from one plant is a deal to me. Now I have to see if I can repeat it in a 9 gallon bucket. I think it's more a factor of veg time and size entering bloom than it is pot size in bloom.

I just need to move them into 9 gallon pots earlier. Right now, I'm keeping up with transplanting and cloning mostly so I may be able to replicate that result with a 9 gallon pot instead of 21 gallons. 9 gallon pots never seem to have much root when I break them up after harvest. I can't imagine they did much better in a 21 gallon instead. If I veg more roots in the 9 gallon pots for a while before bloom instead of transplanting into the pot right before bloom, I might have better soil usage and increase my yield.

Does that make sense?

I don't really trust myself on these things, especially when I'm high. And I'm trained in a technical field. Outside of my grow, I'm no gardener and never have been. So someone chime in and tell me if I'm on the right track or not, please?

Re: Aberration Goes ker Bloom! - 2009

Here's some pics from two days ago (10/21). First, here were the small veg plants. You can see poor L.2C there:

Here she is from closer. There was no new growth after three weeks:

And here are the same plants, minus L.2C, after transplant:

Time to take their tops off.

In other news, I finished the electrical alterations in the garage today. The new bloom room is now wired for 240V @ 50A + 120V @ 20A. I can work with that. The bloom lights won't even be on those so I only need ACs and dehumidifiers, really. Everything else is low usage and can be easily accommodated, so I am set for power in there. Plus, it all meets code. :cheesygrinsmiley:

Tomorrow I start hanging insulation. Soon I will need the drywall.

Re: Aberration Goes ker Bloom! - 2009

im watching this close as im using 25 gallon pots right now and also trying to decide if the extra soil is worth it or as you say a longer veg in a smaller pot yeild the same results.so far for me im on the fence about it as i have larger plants right now but also a new growroom with 8 ,000 watts sooooooo, i'll need to do some juggling to see what is doing more of the work..and im on someone else's journal while i ramble fricking stoners.

Re: Aberration Goes ker Bloom! - 2009

ABERRATION Yes I have done both, and I believe that having a devloped root system in the pot you are going to bloom the plant in, is very important to do before putting the plant in bloom.
I used to transplant my ladies into bigger pots the day i put them in bloom. and I realized that they never really got a full devloped root system in that pot, But when i transplanted them into bigger pots a week or 2 befor putting them in bloom they finshed with better root systems and did overall better in performance and yield...
Wow im baked
