When should a guy attempt this LST ??

As for when you should start with LST, the answer here is: as soon as possible. Once your plant is comfortably in its vegetative stage, it will be primed and ready for manipulation. You don’t want to go too early before the plant has established a few good nodes, but you also don’t want to wait around. There is only one time where LST can be genuinely problematic, and this is when your plant is already into full flowering. At this stage, the plant’s stems may be too rigid to bend, and you risk potentially snapping a branch holding your precious buds. This aside, however, you can start LST at pretty much any time during the vegetative phase. The earlier the better.

If that is what your goal is with your plant. Have another string or what ever you may choose, pulling your plant at the base in the opposite direction to avoid stress on the roots!

Looks good. LST has many ways to be successful. The main concept is you are bending the top growth down to speed up the lower grow tips. This keeps the flowers relevant come time for flower (receiving sufficient light) with an even canopy. You did a good job on this style.

How old approximately are your plants from being above ground? If you top you want to be at the 3rd or 4th node and around day 21 maybe 28 at latest. This is because you want the new growth to develop before it starts flowering. If you don't see any pre flower pistols I would consider topping all for sure

Keep working the top tip down as low as it can go based on flexibility. The highest tip(s) will become dominant and grow the fastest
