Radogast's 2018 Basement Adventure

So I'm here too, man :)

When cooking the kit you need to let it sit for that 30 days. After you mix everything together and add water you start a chemical reaction which in turn causes the the soil to be toxic to plant life for a while. If you plant it then you will kill your plants. When the soil is cooked though it has no such issue. It is loaded with minerals that feed the microherd that in turn feed the plant as you know. During the cooking process you are basically turning the soil into a giant battery to power your plants. Feeding the microherd keeps the battery charged, so I guess they are the alternator :laughtwo:
It's not toxic per say. It's just too hot for little ones while it cooks and the microbes haven't made all the goodies three plants want.

After lowering the PH more with more PH down, and seeing no improvement, I stopped using PH down in the hempy pots. I am now using RO water for both hempy and HiBrix plants. At this point, growth seems to be improving, still a bit early to say it is making a difference, but there are signs of a positive difference.

The first transplanted plant isn't improving yet

I did a little more transplanting.

Per Tead's advice, I used a float method to separate the plant roots from the perlite.

The float method worked well, but you won't see a picture of the roots because they are so fragile that I need to support the rootball with one hand and the extended roots that reached the reservoir in the other hand - leaving no free hand to take photographs. Any perlite clinging to roots was transplanted along with the roots.

For the 3-gallon buckets, I put the hempy buckets inside a water tight bucket to hold water

Then I poured more water until the water poured over the rim.

Plant was lifted from the perlite into the prepared 7-gallon pot of soil, then backfilled with more HiBrix soil.

I believe 2 of 3 late veg transplanted plants will survive. I didn't take a photo yet.

I'm sure :thumb:

If anyone is considering Geopots, they have a 20% off saleon their tan pots, with handles and without handles. I recommend handles.

A quick tour of my 5 pots in Late Veg, (travelling counter clockwise.)

Carnival, the younger. transplanted from an early veg perlite hempy, she is doing fine in late veg HiBrix soil. Never yellowed.

Lilly, a long time in veg. She was transplanted from a late veg 3-gal bucket into a late veg 7-gal HiBrix. Droopy is her normal. Yellowing is not.
She appears to be getting better in the HiBrix, her fan leaves are growing larger again. I hope they stay green.

Bubba's Gift did not survive the transplant from a 3-gal bucket. Over half her root mass tore off. Noone in the family will miss this strain.

Carnival, the older. She stayed green longer than the others, but has now yellowed. Since I recently changed water PH, I will wait a week to see if her condition gets worse or better.

Guawi, the oldest plant in late veg, is improving. I think it's the new water PH (6.5 Reverse Osmosis)

I'm not certain if it would survive after the damage it's had, but I'd think trimming Lilly way back and letting her replace all that damaged growth might get you a nice recovery. Glad to see you landing with your feet on the ground Rad.

I was thinking of trimming the brown off, but I think you have a good idea hacking the stems way back.

With your prompting, I think I'll take 1/2 of the branches back to 6" above the soil line. This girl's stalks are too thin and probably too woody to grow more than 1/2 oz of bud. If I cut her back, I might get some vigorous new stalks. Once they take off, I can trim back the other 1/2 of the stalks.

The family thinks Delicatessen Lilly is a good smoke. She's 100% sativa so I get nothing but pain relief when smoking her.

I'm glad to hear you say that Rad. She's on my short list of Sativa for next summer outdoors. I'm trying to choose just one! Is she from Ace seeds? I've been looking at their Lily, but it's not called Delicatessen Lily - I don't think...

I echo what Morglie said about landing on your feet. You've got a strong heart! I'd be finding it hard to cope with the challenges you seem to be taking in your stride. I suppose it would help having plenty of stellar grows already under your belt!

Hope the Lily resurrection is successful

My Lily is by Delicatessen seeds, purchased through Ace Seeds. It's very good.

The family likes Haze x Kali China from Ace seeds a little better. Feeling more stoned, high functioning, and happy to be there.

I have high hopes for Ace Guawi, but no harvest yet.

The new purple stuff from Ace seems popular, but I've not seen a 420 smoke report yet.

Everything Ace sells seems to be 'top shelf' cannabis.

Everything Snow High seeds sells seems to be 'top shelf' or better, but you have to grow out a few cultivars to get 'the ultimate." Snow High seeds are expensive and might be unavailable for you, I don't know.

Of what I have grown, Ministry of Cannabis Carnival is the everyday crowd favorite- it's happy weed!

As for taking it in stride --- things aren't as desperate as they were my 2nd grow... I had something like 1" of veg growth in 3 months !

We are down to the last 2" of our last jar of stash at home, with a Carnival harvest due in a few days. I doubt there is enough Carnival to carry the family through for 2 months until the next harvest. That said, my wife has a way of squirreling away one nug here, one nug there. Just this week she found 1/2 oz of AK47 in a cabinet, and I found an unnamed cola about 7" long :)

We're doing pretty good fr being down to out last 1/4 oz

Harvest Day - Carnival

She was all droopy looking, buds were actually touching the floor below the pot.

20180206_114932-1.jpg

When I checked, I found 4 places where her stalks were splitting

20180206_114945-1.jpg

Trichomes were still mostly clear, but the plant herself was falling into pieces, so I harvested :)

She was really easy to trim, about 5 scissors snips per bud and the first two of those were long petiole fan leaves

I am laughing at myself. I was cleaning out a closet yesterday. I found 2 dried out buds in a zip lock box all wrapped in a plastic shopping bag. It looks like they might smoke. I dunno when I stashed them away, no memory at all. I got to stop hiding buds around the apartment.

:ciao:

Sounds like something for some oil! Though might be interesting to give it a try and see if you can figure out what it was!
