Small 1st Grow Already In Progress Using LEDs To Flower & T-5s For Veg

Looks like I'm goon shopping online lol.
I wish they would find their way into my house. Doesn't seem to be a lot of them where I live. Maybe not very much of those bad bugs where I live? Don't know but like you say OG ole lady won't be mad about cute little lady bugs in the house! Good precautionary measure for sure. I have read about companion plants too but not in detail. I don't think it's weird at all, specially if it works! All new advancements in the world start out as a weird idea.

As bad as it sounds, everything including humans, have been know to go cannibalistic when there is no other food source.

Lol I keep a "sterile" shop vac that is only used for the grow room. Caught the woman with it once sweeping her car and tried to explain why she shouldn't use it cuz from inside to outside yadda yadda and basically decided it was easier to just buy her one of her own haha.

Unfortunately we don't have a grow store anywhere near by so everything is online order for me. Unless haeware store high have them

Ok so I know I should be in the shower getting ready to do the responsible thing and go off to the family meeting but to be honest I am dreading this. My mom is 94 and I fear I know what this meeting is going to be about. Hope I am wrong.

Ok so in order to prolong heading out to meet with my siblings I will do a quick update.
Nothing exciting to report as far as changes go. Not even any lady bug porn today (was a little disappointed about that part)
Temps and RH% all in good shape, they bounce around a smidgen but no where close to anything to concern myself over.
Miss "Mango" apparently enjoyed her flush, she is all perky and looking very nice this morning. To be completely honest, other then harvest time I have never flushed. I have read articles on why to do it, when to do it and it is even listened to do on my FF feeding schedule. I think it was the fear of the unknown and how the plant would react. Turns out, I had nothing to fear other then my own fear of the unknown. I noticed from a few other growers that they have started other grow journals on new plants they will be flowering later on but keeping it separate from their other grow. For now I have grow #2 and #3 in my veg tent and am keeping this as 1 journal since I am old and blind it could take forever to keep them all separate and straight. Plus I babble.. so onto the show:

Grow #3 and 1 i am not sure yet if she will be in round 3 or round 2. She is surprising me every day.

And my 1st indoor grow since the 80's is coming along just nicely.

I am pleasantly pleased with how everything is going and hope they continue to stay on this path.
I have stalled as long as I dare, time to hit the road and face the piper.
Hope you all have a great day and that "your" grows exceed your expectations
:circle-of-love:
Peace

I'm  some of the new-to-me things I'm seeing in your grow. You probably mentioned it early on, but why the clay on top of the soil?
Best of luck with the meeting. Those kind of things are never fun...

Good morning all,
I took longer then planned to do my update because yesterday was very rough on me, emotionally. Then while waiting for the lights to turn on so I could peek in and take some new pictures I started posting on a thread that honestly had me seriously thinking I may be going crazy.
3 pictures of a single plant asking if it was a male or female. It looked more male to me but it was not completely clear as to sex for sure so I recommended to be patient. I was 2nd to reply on it. So I move on to a few regulars journals just to see whats new and touch base, then I see the same thread with a new post so I check back in to see if I was on track with my diagnosis. Low and behold I see no post from me, but I do see new posts from others who answering basically the same way I did. On to more journals, oh a new post on the 3 pictures of the male/female question. I click and SOB I have the original post but my new post is gone and so are everyones else. Gone, gone GONE. I know I had a rough day yesterday but now I am beginning to think, do I need medical attention? Am I just going crazy? OH GOD what has become of me.
Turns out I am a complete idiot, the same guy start 2 identical threads with the exact same 3 pictures and I was responding back and forth on both of them.

LuciferP has no idea how much he drove me crazy, yet in the long run helped me. I laughed so hard and am still laughing.
Hope you all did not mind my long story but I found it so delightful and funny I had to share it.

Temps/RH% are staying within the range I want 76 degrees to 84 as my high levels 50%RH in veg tent and low to mid 40's on my flower tent.
no signs of insects or insect porn (apparently insects do not get it anymore then I do)

So the veg tent is doing nicely with the 3rd grow line up looking nice and healthy, Was a bit concerned about them when I defoliated them and forgot to turn the cloner back on a while back, was not sure how well they would do, but they seem to be bouncing back nicely and very happy.

My 2nd grow line up is looking happy as well though I do need to get in and spend some quality time with them to prep them for the big game ahead.

The flowering tent has me a bit excited, though I am sure what they are going through is completely normal for them at this stage of development. I am seeing the development of trichomes on some of the buds but not on all yet. I know this is early in the game, but a strong offense IMHO is better then a strong defense. I read in one of my fellow growers journals he is using a magnifying glass with his smart phone to get such wonderful pictures of his buds. Time to start dabbling with that idea. And while my memory slips me as to which one it was, a big thanks ahead of time for that idea.

I can not say thank you all enough for taking this journey with me, all of your wonderful comments and suggestions have made this grow so much fun for me. I only hope the big finale is just as much fun, and for the advancement of my knowledge I will even break down and buy a scale and figure out what the final yield turns out to be per watt.

Life is short, no matter how long you get to live, so enjoy it while you can.
A huge :circle-of-love: to everyone :thanks:

It was me OG glad I could help you twice today, once for the insanity worries and the other for the lens. I use an aspheric flashlight lens. It is almost circular on one side and then perfectly flat on the other side. I rest my iPhone up against the very center of the lens. The lens makes everything in the very center of the round side super magnified so using it for preflowers is great. If you go to my thread you will see the preflowers and the hairs on the stem around them are in super focus but everything towards the edges gets more and more distorted.

I love aspheric flashlights, the beam they cast is perfectly focused so even 100 yards away it is still a square, the exact shape of the LED inside. When you shine it on a wall you can even see the notches where they solder the wires, and also the grid pattern on the LED itself.

In all actuality while the lens idea is a fantastic tip, one which I will be dabbling with shortly, I can only say :thanks::circle-of-love: for being so tolerant and patient with me this morning when I really was seriously thinking I was going insane. Funny as hell now, but at the time, it was completely freaking me out. You are a true friend and I hope that some day I will be able to be as good of friend to you as you have been to me.

Looking great OG. It's a shame you won't be able to enjoy the fruits of all your labors. I know where you can send it ...

I'm terrible at that stuff. My in-depth review: "Yep - gets me high."

My son got this batch for me online though the shipping cost as much as the ladybugs. I have seen them in a few grow stores locally.
They are one of the many beneficial insects of many which eat bad bugs. The will eat spider mites though their true preference is aphids. As far as I am aware they are not a leaf eater, more of a carnivore. I figured it they got out of the tent, a lady bug in the house loose would not freak the wife out as opposed to a few of the other beneficial insects available.
I am also contemplating a few companion plants into the tents, the wife has suggested to me. Apparently there are certain plants that bad bugs dislike and will avoid them.
Just me being weird and thinking of different options to avoid the problems before they become a problem.
OG
It is my understanding that if your plants brix is above a 12 insects wont recognize it as food, apparently when a plant has a lower then 12 brix it emits a scent and bugs come and attack and kill it, I guess mother natures way of eliminating the weak. Brix is a measurement of sugars in the plant measured through reflectometer. The higher the brix the better the quality as a general rule
