Obi Wan Cannabinoid Presents - Jock vs Jack - A T5 - Hempy Grow Journal

12/12 is both a blessing and a curse. I now have 6 less hours each day to stare at my plants, lol. I have to remind myself to wait for lights on.

Oh, the things we have to put up with.

I feel the same thing here Obi. My lights are out at 6pm just so they continue to wake up at the same time at 6am, what will I do with my evenings???

I calibrated my pH pen tonight. Gotta practice what I preach :)

Fed 1gal each CalMag + GH Flora Trio bloom ratio: C/G/M/B 1ml/1ml/2ml/3ml per gal. That's about 50% strength.

Here is some miscellaneous plant porn before feeding:

Check out how Jack LST'd herself -------^

Cheers!

Nice job, I cal my PH pen every time I use it. Blue lab, I won't let a $10 pen take down a grow you spend 3 months on growing. Plants look great.

Cheers

Thanks for the compliments folks, I appreciate it!

I calibrate monthly. Approximately.

My stash has been out since the beginning of this grow. I went from vaping about 0.5oz/14g per week to 0. I don't mind the THC break once in a while and to be honest that Aurora Indica was, dare I say, too potent. It was all body stone, couch lock and a very difficult daytime med.

April, for me, marks the end of outdoor winter activity and the beginning of the garage changeover to spring/summer tools. Time to pack away the snow shovels and snow thrower, stow the kids' sleds, pull the bicycles from the rafters and general spring cleaning in my little oasis from the madhouse that is the main family dwelling.

During my shuffling about in the garage I came across a small bit of Northers Lights still on the stems and stored in a sealed glass jar. It is leftovers and not very much but I'm going to hit that and head to a concert tonight. What a lucky find and great timing!

Cheers!

A quick update from 03/03/2016. Fed @ 60% strength I feel like there is a little more fade on Jock than I'd like to see just yet. I added a little boost (0.5ml/Gal) to the Nitrogen ratio.

I started counting flower days on April 1.

The first pic has the closest actual color. The T5 is not kind to this camera phone.

These seem pretty short for a sativa dominant strain. I haven't raised my light in what feels like quite a while. It's entertaining to watch these plants evolve.

I wonder if these plants would benefit from the back building technique.

Bigger and more dense buds, I had to go searching to see what that was. I found "LightAddicts back building techniques" I just read the first couple pages to get an idea, That little haircut sure builds up the buds.

Yep, that's what I was referring to.

Awesome looking plants Obi!

I have some Jack on order for my next grow.

How long into flower are you?
4 days into flower now. I transitioned for about 2 weeks and started to count flower days on April 1 to keep it simple for myself :)

I haven't got back to LA's thread yet to see exactly what all is involved in "back building buds". Is this something that you start early on in flower or towards the end?
I think this would be ok with a few buds, I was counting the flower sites on my girls and there is at least 120 or more between them all. That's a lot of trimming lol. But well worth it if they put on enough extra weight.

Back building is done @ week 5 to 7 and simply entails taking the upper most buds and snipping 2mm-3mm off the top. Kind of like topping the flower.

The theory is that this will cause the plant to put more energy into lower flower areas.

Is this a one time snip or do you snip everyfews days, once a week?

Your flowers look great, T5 is doing its job well. Backbuilding can cause bud rot if your grow is humid. Try it on a few small lower sites to see if your light has the energy to get them to swell.

Cheers
