First Grow In 10 Years: DWC Bagseed, Sherbert

Tonight we found what looks like the beginnings of some fox tailing on one bud. Its not close to the light compared to others.

we also did some more scoping and things appear to be mostly cloudy. We are probably going to chop her down over the weekend and get the party started. The smell is absolutely out of control at this point and starting to stink up the neighbors yard. Thankfully our neighbors are great and probably wouldn’t care but there’s no sense taking any risks.
First picture is the foxtailing and the rest are just various but shots.

U are going to enjoy the fruits of your labor. Congrats brother.
Sure glad you didn’t chop her back when.

The big push for me to call it is the heat today and through the weekend, 111 today, 113 tomorrow, and 110 Saturday. I'm not even the hottest part of the state too!

man that is some crazy heat. I would have to guess the same as @Stltoed , Nevada. Or Arizona, they get crazy heat as well.

They look great man!

thank you sir! Tonight is the night. Noticed a musty old basement smell in the tank, got a little acid rain going on in there and the humidity spiked to 66% this morning. So the universe is trying to tell us something.

U are going to enjoy the fruits of your labor. Congrats brother.

thanks man! We are glad as well. Never would have guessed she would turn out this good :high-five:

Southern AZ not too far from the border.

I think Phoenix hit 118 yesterday.

Holy smokes that is HOT. The misses and i visited phoenix on a work trip a few years back during the winter and the weather was wonderful. But that was clearly winter. our temps here are high. But not THAT high. We do have a hurricane headed our way though, so that's going to be fun this weekend.

The big sherbet lady has been CHOPPED. Started at 8:30pm with the misses and didnt finish up until nearly 6:30am this morning. It was a daunting task to say the least. Everything is in the tent drying now. The larf is in a bunch of small paper bags, and the good buds are all hanging. Temps are 69* and 60%RH. Finally got to get some shots of the root ball and one of the purple leaves :yummy:

We think the stretch is finally over with barely and inch to spare. There is about an inch from the light to the filter and 8” from the tallest buds to the light. Here are a bunch of pics from tonight. We counted 68 tops that made it up through the canopy tonight. Sixty freaking eight!

And that’s all for now. I hope you all enjoy and cant wait for feedback
That is a serious plant 68 tops wow

Great job . Congrats on a successful harvest.
Now get that drying and curing right :thumb:
Thanks man! We are going to be very careful with the drying and curing. My last grow had a problem with drying that i dont want to repeat.

Damn, hell of a night! Congrats on the harvest.
haha yeah man it was a doosey. Thanks!

Looks amazing. Roots are crazy
Thanks man, smells even better. The root ball was truly a sight to see. It weighs a few lbs at least.

That is a serious plant 68 tops wow
Thanks man. We definitely had our hands full with this one!

:bravo::welldone::cheer::theband::yahoo::green_heart:
What a great harvest :high-five:
I hope it’s enough of a haul to get you to your next.

:nomo:
Yeah about 10-14 days before the buds had any sign of amber. At the time the buds were all clear with very few milky. We are talking 110F with an UV Index of 8-10, so about as extreme as you can get. I know light degrades THC once the plant is chopped, hence everyone drying in the dark. I'm sure it has a degrading effect on a growing plant but since the plant is still alive and able to repair itself it might not be as bad.
This was a lively exchange.
There are all sorts of ways to increase ‘false’ ambers. Mechanical damage from handling branches and buds is most likely. Banging buds on doors, etc wrangling them in and out of spaces. Or just squeezing a bud for a sniff, you’ve burst a bunch of trichomes right there.
When handling live flowers lift your hand up from underneath.
Whenever you come out of your garden sticky you have accelerated the ‘degradative’ (why not say degrading? Sorry, next post) processes.
I try to get mine hands-free from budset to trim since I came upon that advice.
Maybe not as far as repairing them but slowing the process. Here's a blurb from Ed Rosenthal's book with the answer,

20.6 Potency and Decomposition
We have said that when buds are picked too late, the potency may decline because of decomposition of the cannabinoids, especially THC. In section 21, Tables 26-29 give measured rates of decomposition of the major cannabinoids due to exposure to light and air. Light rapidly decomposes THC into unknown products (possibly polymers (122,164)). Light also converts CBD to CBS and CBC to CBL. Air (oxygen) slowly converts THC to the less active CBN. Conversion to CBN is hastened by higher temperatures. Degradative processes do not occur as quickly in the living plant as when the cannabinoids are purified or in solution, as is shown by the data in Tables 27-30 in section 21 {Tables on disk only}. Resin glands seem to function well in storing the cannabinoids in dried plant material. However, the rates of decomposition in Tables 27 and 28 are for samples exposed to north light and a maximum of 80F temperatures. Temperature would be higher, and light stronger, under full sunlight.

It goes on into more detail, as well as another section on the degradation when storing in warming temps and light. It's a great book to read, it gets into a few specifics but most of it is broad strokes on anything grow related. I've read it a few times now and I still find things that make me go, "huh, really?" Some of the most beneficial things for your garden to increase production isn't something you buy, its usually the free advice and writings of the OGs who busted their privates for years growing, learning, and teaching.
Goddamnit. This is one of those posts that left me more ignorant afterwards than I was before reading. And trust me, I have a head start on ignirint.
I want to see those tables now.
Can you please cite your reference properly? Title, author, year, publisher. :thanks:
Here's a little off topic ramble that some may or may not find amusing. So here goes. :passitleft:

One of our cats (the one in my avatar to be exact) has been stealing leaves. Every single evening when we go to do our checks and "spin the bin" as i call it, there is Oscar, impatiently waiting for a chance to steal some fan leaves. Rolling around on his back in front of the tent. He eats them stem and all. Either right off the plant if i leave the room with the tent open, or he waits for me to pluck a few uglies off and give them to him on the side to keep him out of our way. Either way, he LOVES fan leaves. We don't give him any sugar leaves for fear of getting our pet high. But knowing him, i wouldn't be surprised if he enjoyed it. For all i know, he's stolen a few without us knowing. He is also one of those cats who throws up on the carpet/rug/floor every chance he gets. He eats until he literally pops. The guy has a weak constitution. And since we started our daily fan leaf regimen with him, he has barely thrown anything up in almost 2 weeks. He's also getting noticeably fatter. Probably from being able to keep his food down more often now. We make jokes about him being the card carrier in the family that we are growing for

Once he gets his fix, he wanders off for a 12 hour nap not to be seen again until breakfast the next morning.

Just an odd daily occurrence I've been meaning to share with you all. Funny to see a cat more eager to get in there than we are :blunt:

That's ma boy!
I was going to say CBD, as it will be present throughout the plant, but...
I'm a dog guy. I have 4. They all love a leaf once and a while. You don't need to worry about poisoning your pets with THC since it hasnt been activated yet. Pets need greens to stay healthy.
I hadn’t thought of that. Nice one.
All I can add to that is that each time I have had a spider mite infestation I can trace it back to a garden visit by our long haired cat. Dogs, they’ll dig in a pot if I don’t watch them. What am I saying? They don’t care if I’m watching.

Good growing, Mike.
I hope she dries nice and slow for you now.

I'd love to know your final harvest weight they are seriously impressive if I could grow a ant half the size I'd he more them happy

once we separate the buds from the branches i plan on weighing everything and posting it. We never expected it to get THIS big so it could happen for you too!
