First Grow - White Widow Fem - Soil - LED

Nice looking bud, it really depends how much Amber you want, if she has stopped throwing white pistils then you will start seeing more amber in the next week or so. I personally like at least 20 percent, I had one that went to 50 percent or more and it is definitely more couch lock than the one I took at 10-20.

You have done a great job this grow and you are almost there, the most important part now is patience, sometimes it takes a bit to get to that 20% amber mark, some strains ripen faster than others, my ww seem like they took forever to ripen up lol. I have enjoyed following your journal and you have done a great job, im sure you will do great growing for yourself.

Thanks Tom Smith! I really appreciate the words of encouragement! Big Mama has stopped shooting pistils, but Shortie is still going strong. Hopefully only a few days left for Big Mama..

It definitely feels like it's taking forever for them to amber up. I'm wanting 30% amber.. I think lol.

What's your preferred method of drying?

So I accidently broke a sugar leaf on one of Big Mama's largest colas. I put it under scope and tried to get a picture of the trichomes with my phone... TRIED.

The crazy thing is, there is so much ambering on Big Mama's sugar leaves and small middle buds but the large colas are mostly cloudy with a few amber.

I'm going to chop her very soon!!

Shortie probably has another week. Her pistils are starting to darken and recede and a few amber trichomes but still too many clear and cloudy ..

Pics tomorrow morning and my decisions on when to chop, harvesting method, drying, and the cure.

Tonight I'm picking up the last of my supplies...I'm so stoked!!!

It's been seen week and I finally have time this morning to let y'all know what's up.

Big Mama is coming down tonight. She has to. I haven't seen any growth from her the last week and really havent much since the heat wave(AC went out, tent shot up to 90s) stressed her out. She hermied big time!

The heat wave didn't bother Shortie at all she's fattened up quite a bit... check out the difference in size

I'm going to harvest Big Mama at the end of lights out tonight. I'll be using a green led bulb so I can see what I'm doing. I'll cut branch by branch, pull off all large fan leaves and then wash each one.
Bud washing- 3 clean 5-gallon buckets
Bucket 1: 1 cup lemon juice, 1 cup Baking soda, RO water
Bucket 2- Plain RO water
Bucket 3- Plain RO water
Basically you just dunk each branch and swish around in Bucket 1, then 2, then 3. Some people use hydrogen peroxide, but I don't feel like it's necessary, I would if I had bud rot or PM.
Drying-
I have a spare room that is dark and cold and that's where I'll be hang drying the buds. I want to try Dr ziggy's slow drying method in the future, but this will work for now.
The humidity is pretty low in this room, about 35% and temp 68-72. I'm hoping they don't dry too quickly I'm not going to dry trim so it'll help keep the humidity up in the room.

Once the buds are dry and crispy on the outside but still have bounce in them I will cut down, trim, and put in quart sized, wide-mouth mason jars. They will cure as long as they need to. ☺

Pics tonight of all of this.
