GreenThumb J's Perpetual Multi-Strain Journal!

Sorry brother, i been meaning to answer this.. so here ya go.

>>> what brand name of the Silica

GH ArmorSi

>>> When you plan on using it?

Right after lights off, so as to not burn my plants.

>>> How often you use it?

I think i will use it with each reservoir change, so once a week.

>>> How much to mix

i think this depends on how much you give your plants to begin with.. If you are feeding high amounts of silica via a drip system or in a DWC bucket, then i would use a weaker solution. If you go with a higher solution, you might want to stop using the silica in the reservoir, as per the video suggests and my research suggests.

PS, thank you for your comments on the roots! The plants are doing fantastic..

ON another note, i think the milk spray is highly effective for eliminating mildew. I just have to follow up with the silica spray soon!

Thank you GT, as you come up with the Silica formula for foliar and how much to put in the reservoir at the same time, which I know you will perfect please let us know. It sounds like your thinking foliar spray once a week (at lights out) and reduce the amount of Silica that goes into the reservoir which gets changed once a week?

Again Sir, Thank You.

You got it brother.. that is the plan.. Silica is very useful in the repellent of disease and such, as well as leaf, and stem structure.

okay time to trim.. gotta get some nice buds to take photos of!

I'll be doing more reading & studying here than posting or anything else Greenthumb J. This thread is informative & very descriptive. Here for the duration.

Glad to have ya Reg.

please, feel free to post away as you please! All questions and inquiries are welcome!

I found this writeup about the use of silica in a cannabis garden and it was a fantastic read. I wanted to share this with you guys.

GTJ, I absolutely love and envy the roots your produce! I am finding that I wish I could look at my roots nearly everyday, but flipping pots everyday is just not practical so I had the idea of finding clear flower pots that can be stacked in black pots, but unfortunately there are no clear pots. It would be nice to just lift out the clear pot to immediately see root development, then I could pick the best time to transplant. My problem is that I commit to transplanting before I even see the roots which is definitely not a good practice.

About that foliar milk, does it also have a high PH? Can you give a brief description of it as I've never heard of it.

You commit to transplanting before the roots reach the bottom, means you are wasting a pot size. If your pot does not feel lighter within 24hrs of your last watering, the pot is too big for your plant..

I also wish i could look at my roots everyday, but after a transplant, i usually have to wait about 5-7 days before i can pick the plant and rockwool up from the container..

To be specific, i dont ever flip my pots to check roots. I just grab the plant by the base of the stalk and gently slide it out. Flipping it over would spill rockwool everywhere and i hate sweeping the floors so much haha!

With the milk, i dont believe the pH matters, as the whey protein reacts to the UV light and it creates an antiseptic, which literally obliterates the mildew from where ever you spray. I'm only seeing mildew on spots that i know i missed.

When i go to mix up some more, i will remember to check the pH of the solution for ya!

Also, i will watch that vid in the morning!!

Off to bed!

ahhhhhh root porn now thats the ticket

when I scrolled down,I stopped at the first bucket, said jesus effin christ look at that, then I scrolled and saw the second one,I said holy fuck me,my wife :cheesygrinsmiley: said ya get some root porn???

good stuff man,the bossman better watch out,Capn got some root challengers,in these plants of yours

This is straight from TheCapn himself after me showing him some of my root shots, mainly the DWC ones.

"Those are SO white, buddy. Congrats. Keep up the good work. I never got a pic but mine are not near that white! You using tea on them?"

Good compliments like that lead me to believe theres something to doing the root drenches like i am doing..

You know what, i should make a really important note about that. Since using the Subculture products together, i have actually been feeding my plants less, and they have been growing just as fast, if not faster than previous grows. I'm sure that if i fed them regularly every single day, they would be out of control, which i actually dont want haha, i dont have all that much space in there!

Speaking of which, i think i'm going to go give them a feeding! Going to update the Pink Kush journal!

ha.. i watched you rep bar increase when i gave you reps, cool!

Thanks brother. 6 days from today marks 2 weeks from the transplant, and as you can tell by the pictures of the potted plants, i probably will need to transplant them sooner than that! Off to the grow store for a couple more 3.5gal pots.

On another note, i've set up my Twilight LED in the 4x4 tent and am going to see what this thing is capable of doing with only 165 LED watts in flower LOL!!

I will flowering out my THC Bomb as soon as it gets transplanted into a 3.5gal pot.

Got a question for everyone.

Do you think that 20gals of water would come up to room temperature at the same time as 4gals? Or would the 4gal bucket be room temperature at a faster rate due to less volume?

My theory is a 20gal reservoir will take longer to warm up than a 5gal reservoir, because of the volume of water, and how much longer the transfer of heat energy is needed to bring that larger volume of water up to room temperature.

Am i wrong? or do i actually get to say I've proven TheCapn wrong on something?? Cause that would be a feat of a lifetime!

I know nothing about hydro but that goes without saying.

I thought so, and he admitted the same, although it took me explaining it to him about 2 or 3 times, just for him to tell me the inevitable, lol.

Thanks Reg!

More water the longer it will take to change temperatures.... same as cooling it. It takes the ocean months to warm up to the climate temperatures but it only takes the lake weeks if this is a valid point LOL....

I gotta agree with you J
its like boiling water same thing opposite direction like you said the volume
less volume will boil faster as compared to more volume or am I wrong?

Hey brother.. i'm going to reply to your PM, but feel free to ask me anything you would like on here.. I will do my best to answer them!!

I finally got a picture of TheCapn's plant he has in DWC, and i can easily say my roots are much whiter than his, but his roots are still pretty damn white!!
