Inhale Confidence, Exhale Doubt
Hey all, welcome to hazmat's comparative grow featuring Banana Jealousy by @SeedsMan . I was lucky enough to be one of the few chosen to participate in this world wide grow comparison hosted here on @420 ...... So to both the sponsor and the host thank you for making these fun opportunities for us to not only try a new strain but to see others around the world showcase they're own unique grow styles....y'all rock .
So about Banana Jealousy:
"Banana Jealousy is a three-way hybrid cross of Banana Cream, Jealousy and Gelato 41 strains. This is a high-yielding strain that is relatively easy to grow such that even complete novices can have great success with it in all environments.
Banana Jealousy is a medium plant, reaching up to 150cm in height when grown outdoors. Indoors, flowering takes between 8 - 10 weeks with high production between 450 - 600 gr/m2. Outdoors, or in a greenhouse, each plant can produce up to 750 gr. in ideal conditions. Suitable climates for outdoor cultivation include temperate, warm and hot regions. Northern hemisphere harvests will be ready in late September / early October while those in the southern hemisphere should be ready to harvest in March. While resistance to mould is fairly high these plants are very loud and indoor growers are advised to use good carbon air filters.
Plants produce plenty of resin and are therefore excellent for extract production. Growers can expect fruity scents and flavours (sweet, banana, Skunk) with THC levels of up to 28% while CBD is low at less than 1%, making this a very potent strain."
Alright let's get into the set up:
•Grow space - 2x4x5 mylar lined non-sponsor grow tent.
•Lights - A 100w led P1000 by @ViparSpectra and a non-sponsor 90w "Blurple" led.
•Airflow and Venting - 10" oscillating fan by @VIVOSUN , 8" non-sponsor fan, and a non-sponsor 4" 120v constant inline fan.
•Humidity Control - 2L RoseKM cool air/fog humidifier for the interior of the tent. And a 1 gallon Vicks hot steam humidifier on the outside of the tent near intake vent, used for warning the space during colder days.
Medium - Fox Farms Ocean Forest mixed with Perlite, using 3 gallon fabric pots for the final home.
Nutrients and Additives - Veg and Bloom top dress pellets by @GeoFlora Nutrients , Lotus cal-mag, mycorrhizal inoculant by @DYNOMYCO , Big Bud by Advanced Nutrients, 209 all natural pest control by @Sierra Natural Science .... Along with a few others not really worth mentioning until needed.
•Moral support - Drunken garden gnomes ... They've been in every grow to date and are my kinda good luck charms .
Alright, now onto the process from package to soil this far. To start they both got a quick peroxide bath for about 5 minutes to clean any foreign substances on the surface, I'm sure they were good to go but you never know so I take no chances. Next after a paper towel dry I hold them with a pair of tweezers and sand the shape edge of the seed just until color is lighter. * this takes practice....it's a tiny work space lol*. After the brief sanding they both ended up in room temperature distilled water in sake glasses . The seeds soaked for a roughly 24 before they split and showed little tails.
So now that the seeds have split I got going on the starter homes. I'm using 4" tall by 3"-ish wide plastic pots. I start by putting a piece of fishnet at the bottom to help hold the first layer in the pot which would be perlite for about half an inch or so. Then filled the rest of the way with a soil blend of Fox Farms Ocean Forest to about %20 additional perlite. Soil was lightly packed throughout. After seeds dropped into the new homes, they got a quick watering and added to the tent.
All that's left is a photo of the seeds chilln in the new digz.
And that wraps up the intro to this journal thanks for stopping over and I'll catch you folkz on the next update.
