Icemud LED Grow Featuring The All New Budmaster COB Technology - White Full Spectrum

Re: Icemud LED Grow Featuring The All New Budmaster COB Technology - White Full Spect

good work ,doing any crosses with your pollen or just selfing them mate ?

The black cherry soda will be crossed with itself, as well as crossed with tangie, ogiesel, fire og, harlequin and black diamond og :)

Nice job with seeding. Always good to have dank seeds. Nice color in there. Looks like that silver did a number on the leafs. I thought you had thrips or some other miner in there. Well the non silver plants are very lush.

Cheers

Thanks Millertm! Yea the silver did make the leave spotty and look odd, but so happy that it worked :) now I know that I have a near future of some really cool strain crosses I will be working with :) even cooler to know that nobody else will have the exact same genetic breed on the earth :) so fun!

Your forgot to mention that you'll probably NEVER have to buy seeds again (unless you want some new strains!), and, if for any reason you need to stop growing for a while, you'll have some nice strains preserved! :welldone:

Yep, you are exactly on point with that, as I was thinking to myself that if I ever want to move, I can either figure out how to move all my plants in a clandestine fashion, or just make seeds :) much easier to bring seeds :) I've lost a few really killer strains over the years too so now that I know how to do this, I will never have that problem again :) hopefully :)

Occassionally I may still pick up clones from time to time of strains that I want, but for the most part with the genetics that I have been running for a while now, I'm extremely happy with the potency and terps so I'm really curious how they cross breed :) should be very interesting :) I'm just imagining in my head how tangie x black cherry soda will be : )

UPDATE TIME@!!!!

DAY 60 flowering in the Budmaster COB tent.

Well today I opened the tent and noticed the girls are really starting to give off some stinky goodness smell, moreso than before!!! Thankful for carbon scrubbers, that is for sure! Well it seems that the growth has slowed down quite a bit and the plants are taking up much less water than previous weeks which usually is a sign that they are getting ready to be pulled :) I probably will run them at least 1 more week, but with the 3 day weekend coming up, it makes for a perfect time to trim them up and clean the tent for them to hang dry, so come friday I will make the decision whether to harvest them, or let them go another week to be harvested next week.

I haven't done a trichome check yet, so I will be doing that later tonight or tomorrow to see if we are seeing cloudy or still clear, and that will be the main factor I am looking for in relation to my harvest time as I really prefer a heavier, couchlock style buzz so I like to see some amber but we will see. According to a study I read on trichomes, and potency, the study found that 10 weeks of flowering is roughly the optimal time for many different strains that were tested for maximum potency, but again, I will let the trichomes tell me the full story.

I am still seeing white pistils form, but much less than previous weeks, and they are more in little puffs, than all over the bud, which usually is also an indicator for me that the time is ready to harvest. I have to say the girls look really good and even though I don't think my yield will be incredible due to the tent being overcrowded, I think that I still should see some impressive results, especially for only 400w total draw. My tangie #5 has some chunkers on it as far as buds so I may surprise myself, and black cherry soda also is always a high yielding strain too, so we will see :)

Overall I am extremely happy with how the budmaster Cobs are preforming this run, and can't wait to do a combo run in the future using both god and cob... and don't forget, my next grow will also feature the Emerson Far Red flowering trigger panel too :)

Looking fantasic, Ice! :welldone: It's been a long time and you've come a long way! :bravo:

Hey Mr. Krip! good to see you, it has been a minute! Glad you stopped through and I really appreciate the luv!

Lovely work, I keep forgetting to ask why you use square pots (24x24 looks like to me). Plants take shape of pot their in and square pots make a boxy look. Try some round 7's or 5's side by side to see what I mean.

Cheers

Hey Miller, thanks! The reason I use the 5 gallon square pots is because of the size limitations of my tent. 5 gallon round pots are too wide for my tent put side by side so I have to stick with the 5 gallon squares. I do have some 4 gallon round pots I used on my first couple grows and also have some large 15 gallon smart pots which I used once. Mostly it comes down to how I can maximize my space the most and the squares just seem to fit perfectly. Once I make seeds of all my plants and strains I have on hand, I will be reducing the amount of plants I grow to 6 like I used to do or even go less to 2,3 or 4 with larger pots as with organic soil its better with the larger pots since nutrients need some time to break down to a form the plants can uptake.

Hopefully in the next year I will possibly be relocating, if the opportunity holds true, and I will have 22,000 sq feet of vertical growing space to take care of... :) but that will be all done in 4x8 trays and rockwool. :)

Looking Awesome Icemud. Those COB lights are bringing it home big time! In your opinion, did the COB light experience a bigger stretch? I was also wondering what your best flower light is? COB vs GOD :)...

Those girls are stacking on the weight! :Namaste:

Hey Dr. Cannabi!

Well great questions and I appreciate the compliments :)

The COB's definitely are impressive lights to say the least. As far as stretch, I didnt take any measurements before flowering or after so my judgement would be based only on my visual observation. As far as stretch, I think between the GOD's and the COBs, the GOD's produced more stretch based on comparing photos from day 60 on both grows, where the total canopy of the grow under the GOD's was about 8"-1' taller than the current grow with the COB's. I used the reference point on the photos the middle vent/hose holes in the tent and the average canopy on the GOD grow was above the top of the venthole, where as the COB grow was at the bottom of the vent hole or lower so overall a difference of 8" to 1' or more in stretch with the GOD panels.

Now also to be fair, I went back and examined the photos of day 1 of flowering (day of the flip) to see the average canopy height in reference to the vent/hose holes and between the COB grow, and the GOD grow, the height was virtually identical. Therefore, even though the actual training of the plants, environment, nutrient regiments and frequency may have slightly changed between each grow, the stretch was definitely much greater with the GOD panels than with the COBs.

To answer the 2nd question is a little tougher, mainly because this run with the COBs will be the 1st full run, veg to finish with the COBs so I have yet to get the dry weight, or taste and sample the final product yet. Its honestly really hard at this time to give a good comparison since I still have yet to try the COB buds with a full COB grow. On my 1st run with the COBs, I only used them from day 30 to finish so it wasn't a fair assessment of the COB grown plants because half of the flower cycle was done under my XTE panels. Now with that being said, the GOD grow did produce my Ogiesel to be better tasting and more fragrant than I have had it under any of the grow lights I have used in the past including other brands. Now was that due only to the lights...its hard to say. Really out of all the LED panels I have used, the budmasters are very good when looking at all aspects, and I also really liked the Advanced XTE panels. In terms of build, reliability, overall final yield, harvest and other factors they all produced favorable results and I don't have any negative issues or complaints.

I do plan on running more comparison and research type test grows in the future, but right now until I reduce my plant counts and how many strains I have on hand I won't be able to do that. I would say either GOD's or COBs as well as the XTE's are great panels, and I would recommend any of them to someone that was on them market looking for lights. Now with that being said, depending on the grow style and budget of the person asking, It most likely may steer the suggestion between one of the three. For instance if someone was growing in a sea of green or scrog, where vertical penetration need was minimal, then I most likely would recommend the COBs, because of the more even footprint and spread of the light. If someone were growing 4 or 5 foot bushes, then I probably would recommend the XTE or GOD because of the dual lenses which create more "throw" on the beams of light, therefore offering better penetration. Its really hard though to say one is better than the other because I have never run a controlled side by side, and also with the wattages being different on all 3 panels, even if a controlled study was done, it would be still hosting an unfair advantage to the more powerful light.

Quite honestly I think the combo of GOD/COB lights would be ideal, offering the best of both custom spectrums for plant needs and terpene production, penetration as well as even widespread light, full spectrum. And I do like how the budmasters offer the ability to swap components, as my next grow will feature hybrid lights with 1/2 cob, 1/2 god :) I think that will be that middle bowl of pourage :) just right :0

Thanks so much Icemud! This answers every question I had and gave me info I can really use! I've been thinking a COB+GOD light would be handle all needs. You drove it home for me. The Advanced lights look awesome as well! I can't wait to see where this goes in the next 10 years.

I truly appreciate your effort and honesty!:thumb:

Yea I think the combo would be like getting a soft drink from the fountain at 7-11, but instead of filling the cup completely with mountain dew, you fill 1/2 with lemonaide :) lol haha

I'm excited that I'm finally doing my seed projects, so that I can do all these tests I've been wanting to do. I swear I just need a small warehouse with about 10 equal grow tents so I can just run tests, side by sides and experiments. That with a steady income I would be almost in heaven :) Now if I can find a chick with the same interests, that would be nirvana :)

Its funny you say that, because I am the technology manager for the cannabis firm I am working with, helping to design our state of the art facilities. Also I am coordinating a 8 LED light study in a controlled environment so that we can decide what spectrum and intensity will be ideal for our 5 tier vertical racking system. :) I think fate helped push me into this position :) and I am happy that it seemed to work out :)

Time for a forum wide smokathon Ice!

The Great July 4th Smok-a-thon of 2016!

Dude! I am so down, as soon as my weekend starts tomorrow (friday) evening :) I have my multitudes of hashes, waxes, flower and edibles to consume over the weekend :) Still debating whether to give my girls an extra week or to harvest them this weekend. Tonight I will be doing a trichome check to see where we are at :)

Re: Icemud LED Grow Featuring The All New Budmaster COB Technology - White Full Spect

Tricome Check!!!!

So I took the opportunity today to check my trichomes to see where we are at, and currently we are on day 62 of flowering (from the flip) and with the 3 day weekend coming up, and no dedicated plans. I am thinking that its a perfect time to harvest my plants, trim them, clean my tent and then hang dry them. Since it does take time and its slightly labor intensive, I think the time is ideal and so I wanted to hear what my trichomes had to say....

So I took my 30x lupe and my cameraphone, set to zoom on max and held the 30x lupe to the cameraphone lens. Its much easier to me to take photos like this and then look at them vs trying to lean into my tent, and then focus the lupe to see real time plus it makes for some nice trichome shots :) I really wish I had a nice usb microscope so maybe I will put that on my future to get list :) would love to have some nice 100x or even 200x shots :)

Well for all of the plants, it seems that we have mostly cloudy trichomes and very few amber which is just about right, so I think that due to my free time this weekend, as well as the trichome ripeness I will yank them :) I gave the girls their last watering today which was just epsom salt and r/o water to help flush out the soil and with the sulfur hopefully some added fragrance too :)

Here are the trichome shots :) enjoy :) (as well as some nug porn! )

The seed project tent: Day 15 flowering from the flip under Budmaster GOD panels...

Today makes day 15 and I am still spraying the Black cherry soda daily 1x with colloidal silver, however as of now she is in full pollen production as all the pistils have disappeared and been replaced by male pollen sacks (balls). I'm so happy that I nailed it my first attempt and now its just a waiting game for the pollen to ripen, and the sacks to open. I think probably in the next week to 2 I should see this happen which at that point I will be using a brush to paint the pollen on to the other plants. I'm not sure when I should stop spraying the colloidal silver, so I have to research that either tonight or this weekend but I assume now that it is in full pollen mode, I could stop. i will confirm this though before I do.

Other than that all the plants that are still female and not being sprayed are showing some nice bud formation and I'm really curious how keeping them shorter will pan out, even though this grow is for seeds and not yield, it will be a good test :)
