I'm Back! - Growlow's Perpetual Organic Garden!

sweet grow book lol porn and cannabis all at once :high-five:

covering the bases I guess :p hehe

the 70s were a righteous time brotha!

I can't agree more with you Frenchy!

Are you planning a hop/cannabis graft? Too bad the THC doesn't come along for the ride. We've been growing hops for decades and have them coming out our ears.

As this is new ground for me I can't say I can attest one way or the other. I have a couple of friends who happen to be the sons of a man who in the 1920's was one of the scientists who experimented with hops/hemp grafts. They and their father claim (He passed away just over a decade ago but I remember our chats like they were yesterday) with the right chromosomal pairing Cannabinoidal and Terpene transfer are possible. I have notebooks about this that will take me the better part of this next month to research to better grasp what I've had the joy of talking about numerous times and turning them into something physical.

I'm looking forward to your graft research! :high-five:

Cheers Major me mate. I have no expectations of success. Just the pure curiosity. I can't say it's not enticing :):high-five:

Just the fact you want to try it! :thumb:
Heck - I've had hops for nearly 30 years and knew about the grafting prior to that, but have never done anything about it. :thedoubletake:

Well the real exciting thing for me is something that I have hinted at in previous journals. I'm going to creating Polyploidy plants and doing a step by step demonstration. There are different methods of application. Using Colchicine. Which is as toxic as arsenic. It's not to be taken lightly or played with. It is claimed by some that strains like Girl Scout Cookie. OG Kush, White Widow were polyploid. The strain of Hops I'll be using for this Canna/Hops graft is also a polyploid. So it'll be interesting to see the outcome ;)

Oooh this should be exciting :)

I've only ever come across one triploid and was so excited to flower it but it hermed unfortunately which can be expected where there is genetic instability such as 3 chromosomes.

Interested in the use of Colchicine and will be following along closely :)

I love a good science experiment :)

Keep up the good work

I will be making a Hexaploid. Takes time but is oh so worth it. I've only ever made one before. Called her Mary Mango. Was something else. A mate of mine in the North of Australia still has her in his garden... his garden just happens to be a couple thousand acres hehe. A farm boy :)

Triploids really are a role of the dice. It's not until you get to a Tetraploid where you get that idealized stability.

I'm super anxious to get it started... I'm just fitting out my home lab with more appropriate fittings for such an experiment and demonstration:Namaste:

A Hexaploid :yikes:

I didn't know it was possible for cannabis to function properly with six sets of chromosomes but I suppose humans were able to turn wheat into a hexaploid.

I know that polyploids are usually unable to interbreed with their diploid ancestors but do you think it might be possible to create a hexaploid Female + Male and breed them together? :)

It definitely is. It's just about having a tenuous grasp of mathematics. As long as you started with a genuine F1. Obviously using an S1 would make that impossible.

From here on out the video updates will be a weekly affair. That way you guys can see the development week by week. I wanted to rotate but honestly probably wont. In my big room. I have such overkill when it comes to light 2x1000 watt HID's in the big air cooled hoods running on Phantom 2 digital ballasts. I can boost those up to 150%. All in a 8x8ft'ish sized room. No real need to rotate anything.

Just to give some more info on the scene in Washington. The state has decided to pretty much abolish all Medical Marijuana rights and privileges. Medical patient now have to get the "material" (you can't say "medicine in recreational.) from a recreational outlet with flower that is grown terribly, cured even worse and sold for chips. They can purchase twice as much in store as any other person and have to go from being able to grow 15 plants down to six. Supposedly you can get allowances made if you can find a Dr to give them to you.

My condition is legitimate. It's not just your run of the mill anxiety or headache relief situation. I split my skull open at the age of 4 which caused some Central Nervous orientated altercations and in a way alteration. I've tried most pain killers. Never once addicted to any of them. They would just make me throw up, when you have disabling head pain throwing up is the last thing you want to do. I smoked Cannabis for the first time at 11 and started growing it in my backyard a yr later. The house that I grew up in rested against rainforest where no one went. It was just way too dense. The day I started smoking cannabis is the day I got my life back. There is nothing synthetic or natural substance that has more long lasting relief from my condition than cannabis.

Sorry to hear that my sister has brain problems too :420: 420 Mag makes people stronger brings everyone closer a place to make friends and just help people out keep up the good work lots of love

So many fun projects! I look forward to the polyploid work as well. I tried the colchicine thing back in the '70's but never got a viable poly seed. I wasn't at all scientific about my efforts back then.

:bravo: and :goodluck:

Yeah you wouldn't be the first mate :) It comes down to percentages... most use a solution over 0.10%. Which is on the borderline of being too high. For success I've found the range between 0.03%-0.05% to give the best result.

Thanks for sending the love Sepent. It's a pretty special place :)

How'd you get your hands on Colchicine back then? Pretty sure the only way to get it these days is by prescription or by growing Saffron

We followed a formula to extract it from Autumn Crocus. I'm not familiar with getting it from saffron, but I think another name for Crocus is Meadow Saffron. I think it is made synthetically these days.

You can extract it from the seeds and corms from Saffron. I'm just going to tell my Dr of the Gout that runs in my family and get a preventative measure prescription to keep in the freezer ;)

:thumb: Awesome!
Doh! I just looked up saffron (the spice) and it does come from crocus.
