InTheShed Grows Inside & Out: Jump In Any Time

Oh, I forgot to ask, is there particular reason you got the aphids, or is that just something us outside growers have to deal with? I usually get some spider mites but I’ve never had aphids. I usually only get aphids on my Canna Lilies.

They're getting about 2g/gallon of MC and 2.5ml gallon MSA (mono silicic acid, 0-0-0)). I'll be bumping both of those whenever they finally drink what they got on transplant
Hey, Shed. Hardly a need to say your plants look happy because the pretty much always do! :Rasta:

When you bump up the silica where will you bump it t? And where do you max it out?

I run silica in all my plants from day one at 3ml per gallon. Now you got me wondering if I should start out with a bit less.

Looks great @InTheShed, !

I bet if you added some DYNOMYCO mycorrhizal inoculants the roots would shoot even more. But your roots are looking 10/10 so the mycorrhizae would only help them shoot out further but will definitely do no harm. Great stuff though! We are glad you have a bag of DYNOMYCO in the shed ;) hopefully you get a chance to use it :slide:

Happy Growing :peace:

How I picture Shed schlepping all those plants.
LOL! That's not schlepping, that's rolling. I've got too many stairs for a trolley! :cheesygrinsmiley:

I never get mites, just aphids and the occasional thrip. Must be something about my garden?

@Mr. Sauga and I just had a conversation about this yesterday. He likes to run his silica in PPM, and starts at 10ppm with the second set of leaves, then bump it to 30, and then to 50ppm for the rest of the time.

What I discovered using Hydrobuddy's calculator (which is what MrS uses) is that my MSA is a pretty low concentration (probably why it was less expensive than others), so I may be underfeeding with it. I'll see what the actual weight is per milliliter (since Hydrobuddy works in weight rather than volume) and get a more accurate dosing schedule.

And it's hard to overdose your plants with Si so you should be okay starting on the high side as long as you're not using a 0-0-4 version. That will throw out your NPK ratio.

Thanks DYNOMYCO! What's your take on mycorrhizae and the Canadian vs Chinese peat research, as well as the role inorganic phosphorus plays in mycorrhizae colonies? I posted a couple of links in this post here if you wanted to read them.

freaked out by how much of the rootballs I chopped off, here are the Candidas clones three days later:
Proves the old adage- what doesn't kill 'em, just makes them stronger...

The moms and the spring ladies are looking excellent, Shed-
Looks like the damn aphids are getting an early start this year...

It just occurred to me that I never did a summary post for the Year of Sativa harvests, so here it is!

I am really curious about the sativa strains myself. Is there an easy to get to post amongst your filing system with the smoke reports or a general summation of how you found the sativa strains especially compared to the more indica heavy hybrids? Cheers.

Since I don't smoke weed, I only have my wife's smoke reports, and they unfortunately all go like this: "It got me high!"

Best I can tell you is that the sativas are more of a head/behind-the-eyes high as opposed to the fall-asleep-on-the-couch indicas. That said, my wife will also fall asleep on the couch after smoking sativas, so probably none of this is helpful.

:sorry:

Thanks, I don't smoke either or haven't for 10 years, I moved over to vaping back then and more recently since oral surgery I have mostly been consuming, but I think the high is pretty much the same. The strain I have that is a bit little sativa dominant has had the effect of enhancing nicely but allowing a clear head for doing things or socialising, I didn't find this with the indica dominant strains I had, so I thought perhaps that was a sativa thing.

I seen the youngens.......... looking for the fat buddgae?? jk gotta get there somehow huh?????????? GL

I use the more common Silica product, 0-0-3 to 0-0-4 depending on the label you read. I start at birth with 1ml and increase it 1ml every 5-7 days the plant is old, until I reach a max of 5ml. My calculator has every ml worth a tad over 10ppm of Silica, so like @Mr. Sauga I'm hitting around 50ppm Silica at full strength.

For what it's worth, Dyna-Gro, the makers of Pro-Tekt, one of the 0-0-3 products, shows using 5ml from start to finish in their feed schedule. I prefer to keep it in proportion to my base nute, which I'm also increasing ever 5-7 days until I max it out.

That's definitely a sativa thing, which is why I grew so many of them! I had a lot of indicas from summer 2019 and needed to counter balance the stash. That said, I'd say my wife's favorite smokes are Van Stank's DTF (a sativa leaning hybrid of Durban Poison x Alaskan Thunderfuck), and Sour G from a past member here (a cross of GG#4, Sour Diesel, and THC Bomb).

LOL! We're getting there :).

Phewf! I'm glad we're all on the same page. :high-five:

Addition to the above (and since the question had come up earlier about Sour G's parentage), I did a Google search for the cross on our site using the member name and his original name for it. He has said it's "sour diesel x gorilla bomb" and also said it's "gorilla glue x thc bomb x sour diesel."

Since Gorilla Bomb is an actual variety from Bomb Seeds, I'm guessing it's Sour Diesel x Gorilla Bomb (same actual lineage as my mentions of it previously). Which parent is which I do not know.

And while I'm stringing together a bunch of posts, how about some seeds? These are the seeds I've received so far from my MOTY and GJOTY wins, so y'all who voted for me are responsible, and for that I say :thanks:.

Let me lead with the @Weed Seeds Express seeds: Amnesia Lemon Kush, Godfather OG, Jack Herer, and Chiquita Banana.

The CB and JH seeds got damaged in shipping (and those are the two I'm dropping next!), and David re-sent them the same day I let them know. Excellent customer service!

Next up is Dope Seeds, who sent along Gelato and Girl Scout Cookies:

And last is The Vault, who sent Durban Poison:

I don't need that much Durban Poison (PM if you're interested ;) ) but they shipped them so quickly that I didn't notify them in time!

I haven't heard anything from Cannapot yet so I've got nothing to show you on those, but they're supposed to be Granola Funk.

Happy Thursday!

Must have been some rough manhandling! Their packaging is fantastic, and I wouldn't have thought they could get damaged.

I’m still trying out new strains all the time and I’ve found some sativas give me a clear head but so do some indicas! I have a gummy that’s an unknown indica strain that relaxes my body but not couch lock, and leaves me pretty clear headed for a few hours at least. Some sativa leaning hybrids can leave me feeling pretty fuzzy. New to the medical card thing for the last 9 months so still trying to figure things out.

I think it was a lack of padding inside the packaging. Something heavy must have been sitting right on it during the flight over!

It's definitely trial and error since everyone's endocannabinoid system is different. It's what makes cannabis-as-medicine both unique and hard to study. It's a fun exploration though!

My wife enjoys smoking, so she's not the type to have a bowl and wait for the effects to hit and change over time. Probably why the smoke report is just "It gets me high." :cheesygrinsmiley:

Nice seed stash Shed! Definitely looks like you got some good strains on your hands!

the smoke report is just "It gets me high." :cheesygrinsmiley:
That sounds just like Mrs. N’s smoke reports! If I ask her about something she just smoked she always says “ ya it’s good it gets me stoned” lol. I’m not the best judge I only smoke once or twice a week so everything gets me really STONED!!

Welcome all to page 1234! Thanks for sticking with me for all this time. :adore:

Thanks N! I'm lucky to be able to say it's been a while since I've bought seeds...thanks to the support of the folks here. :)

I know right! I wish I could get the great smoke reports like @ProfessorFlora writes. But that's a skill in and of itself!
