Medical Grow

Doc: Thanks for the clinical prognosis. I appreciate your erudite and articulate bedside manner. ;) I was actually thinking the same thing about your bud porn and questioning my perversity. I'm sure the smell of those ladies is over the top. I can't wait for the final numbers. Congratulations!

thanks! Tonite all those lovely Blackberries are getting trimmed up!
I'll start on the jack's on Friday, OG's maybe in a week, maybe longer.

They have autoflowering plants.....whatever. I want some auto-trimming plants. That would be cool.

Hey Doc,
Now that you have gone "pro" - have you looked in to the Osmocote Pro line of products?
I was thinking the 3-4 month 17-5-11 would be nearly perfect for our ladies.
Some key points:

* Contains no urea so can be used in covered production areas as well as outdoor nursery, foliage and landscape plants
* 2nd generation Osmocote® Pro featuring 100% coated, homogeneous N-P-K prills blended with a proven micronutrient package (equivalent to Micromax®) provides plants elements essential for high quality growth in a form they can easily utilize
* Elevated level of iron in sulfate form is easily taken up by plants and encourages good foliage color

...and now for a word from our sponsor. I bought Osmocote on Doc's recommendation. I'm using it in my hempy cups. If Osmocote Pro wants to sponsor a side-by-side comparison grow to vet their claims they should contact Setting Sun and hook something up. Personally, I'm a little leery of product 'enthusiasts' linking back to product web sites. That cynicism comes from reading too much hype from nute vendors. This site and its members are very good about saying 'this shit really works' which is different than the kind of product pitching pasted above.

hey bro! I've looked at the pro....and I've concluded that as a base nute, it doesn't have enough P. As a supplement in a good organic soil, it would work extremely well. But then....so does OC+. In fact, they all do, DM included.

Osmocote.....20 bucks for a year's worth for most growers. That's the hype.

------------------------------

Update. All but 2 Blackberries harvested. I won't go into any yield info.

1.) the table you see in the background is black. Use that to reference the purpleness of the nugs with my crappy photography.
2.)unbelievable resin. Thick as toothpaste on the underside of the buds. I got over a gram of scissor hash!
3.)by far, without a doubt the most potent stuff I've ever smoked....nothing comes close. Frightening....but fun.

Blackberry data:
top of pot, FFOF. Bottom half of pot "Power Flower" (like subcool's soil)
Top dressed with OC+. Watered with RO+ calmag, snowstorm, Molasses and a couple bloom enhancers in early flower, 2 doses of compost tea.

I could not be more pleased with the Blackberry. If I can duplicate this on a subsequent grow, I'll be ecstatic....I don't see how I can improve on it, but I'll try.
The following pics are all of the blackberry.

here are a couple more random shots. The outdoor plant has zero pistils....everything is seeded. Lots of little seeds in there, and lots of frosting!

The Jack Herer is going to surpass the Blackberry in resin and smell, but not in outrageous purpleness. Also harvested the ATF today.....it's fine....whatever.

OG Kush next week, followed by Bubba Kush, Violator and Blue cheese.

This plant was green until I turned the temps down. It shut off the OC+....hence the yellowing. I like it!

I really like that product!
I also really like a good organic soil blend.....got some good ideas for the next cycle, mixing organic and CRF's. That's basically what I did for the blackberry.

But I'll also use snowstorm....great stuff.

That blackberry is incredible Doc!

If I recall correctly you used snowstorm in one of your hempy grows... is it good with perlite? At what point do you use it? What's in it? Thanks.

thanks bro!

Start using it when you see good pistil formation. You can also foliar feed it, but not when the buds are too dense and sticky. I use it all through the bloom cycle. It really works. Works great in hempy as well.

Thank-you for my morning dosage of bud porn.:reading420magazine: I was having one of those mornings when growing sucks...then I saw your gorgeous bud pictures. :bravo: Feeling much better now. :thanks:

Thanks for the warm welcome.
I'm not a nute rep. Just a small time caregiver in Colorado, a MMJ patient myself and helping out several other patients. Got into growing after my 10yr daughter passed away from cancer several years ago. It was only after she passed did I discover that maybe she didn't have to suffer through her chemo as she did if MMJ was even mentioned to us as a alternative treatment. Now I have several cancer patients & a epilepsy patient. It's not a fulltime job for me. My fulltime job is in the medical field, working specifically with epilepsy patients, assisting the Neuro Docs. In a nutshell I interpret brainwaves and give my opinion to the docs on where the seizures are stemming from.

I was just curious to Doc's opinion. It's been stated that hemp grows well with a 3-1-2 ratio and I thought the pro 17-5-11 maybe lined up pretty well. Been using the OM Outdoor/Indoor myself as that's what's available locally (have never even seen Plus on the shelf) - and I've been using OM before I ever read about Doc's experience with it. Not a follower myself as you mention you yourself are. I personally don't go by most of what MJ nute companies hype nor do I go by what most online growers say. There's just too much bad info on most of these MJ forums. I do like the logic the Doc follows with his grows as he questions the BS that's thrown around these kind of forums. So someone on the net saying,"This shit really works" doesn't cause me to even raise an eyebrow. And even if the "shit" works for them - doesn't mean it's going to work for my situation/setup. It is nice to find though that Doc's findings are very much in-line with my own experience with OM.

I grow in something like a modified hempy/earthbox, using soil that's very heavily mixed with perlite & coco. I do amend the mix with micros & add OM. I also water with a very weak nute solution, along with more micros & enzymes.

Doc - thanks for your opinion & sharing your knowledge & experience with the rest of the world. I have enjoyed reading your posts, and I'm amazed with the amount of patience you have demonstrated with some of the questions thrown your way. Sorry to tying up your thread with this ramble.
:thanks:

Thanks to each and every person who writes on my journal!
I'm really glad people are helped by my "style."

One of the things we're offering in our collective is consultations for growers....so ANYONE can grow their own. Some 58 year old woman who hasn't smoked since the early '70's and doesn't garden may want to try hempy.

At the same time, a guy who knows how to grow flowers and vegetables may be ready to grow and just needs help with trichomes and a source of cuttings/seeds. We do all that too.

Doc

Which breeder did you get the Blackberry from?
And which are your favorite breeders?

This Blackberry is a cutting that's making the rounds where I live. I did take it to the next level on this grow, however. (that's what they tell me.) Of course, that's entirely due to the high quality soil and the OC+. If I didn't have the OC+ these plants would have crapped out weeks ago, unless I had grown them in 7 gallon buckets.

My favorite breeders right now are:

Skid Mark (he's on this journal.....obviously 'skid mark' is an alias)
DJ Short
Subcool

I've yet to grow my stuff from Joey Weed and Reeferman.
I also have good luck with Barney's Farm.

Stay way the hell away from No Mercy.

But you love it. Great job Doc. Wish I had the nerve to do a journal. I'd love to share more with you guys. My pineapple express is absolutely beautiful as is my Blz from seedism and the Blueberry gum from G13 labs. Also got white russian from serious seeds and vanilla kush from barneys.

I'd sure love to see it! But I understand about the hesitation. I've kept my pics to a minimum this time too. Probably do even less next cycle.
