Sometimes, In The Greenhouse

Good morning. Yesterday I chopped her in the rain, in the greenhouse. It had to be done. Too much was lost every day to “the rot”. The potential for something special was there with just a couple more weeks. Shit happens!

Happy grows :peace:

It is a shame about the rot and having to chop her early but she does look really good and hopefully you still get a nice smoke out of her. It is a common tricky problem when growing outside, I wish I knew the answers.

I know I haven’t commented in a while but damn hate to see this one come to an end. Congrats Stinker that is one more well trained, flat topped beauty,…. whew shes gotta funk up the room.
It is funky in da house, that's for sure... like rotting garbage.

The smoke is surprisingly strong, I have been smoking what I took prior to chop and it is great. This morning I reduced the plant further and boxed. I like to box it up to slow down the dry for a few days prior to jarring. Excuse the desk lamp lighting. :peace:

Good morning, I it was scary there for awhile, its hard watching a plant that you cared for just start rotting. I have been there before, it just never seems real, nor does it get easier. I was fortunate and ended up with viable bud. It’s hard to say how much was lost, but to put into perspective, once hung I only saw two main colas.

Last night I further broke down the buds and was able to Jar a bit over 12 zips @ 71% humidity. A week of burping and we should start to see how she will turn out. She was still pretty green at chop. :peace:

It feels like a crap shoot, you just lose control. I like that you think I am in the "Goldilocks zone". It sounds great, just never heard the expression before. I'll use it myself. thanks @Stunger, I am feeling lucky. :yummy:

@013 , thanks. She was one stinky mama. My wife is tolerant, this one stunk a bit too much. Glad to have her jarred up now.
She was a beauty!
Hopefully the smoke report will be all you wanted her to be.
Thanks DD, glad you could follow along. I cant complain, but can only imagine what a couple more weeks would have shown. Next year we shoot for the finish line. Is there criteria for a Smoke Report and/or a format?

She was good looking.

Is there criteria for a Smoke Report

The first smoke report I made accidentally by remarking that I had spent a half an hour trying to teach my lorikeet to say the word chirp ironically.

We’re pretty informal around here.

Update - It cleared up a bit. There is snow down to 1500 meters. We should have sun tomorrow. I’ll be taking the covers off the green house and putting away the blind. They won’t handle snow well. Will also roll back the grow bag for a look at the roots before breaking it down.

I’ll get up a smoke report as soon as there is a bit of a cure. Even now, the bud is starting to look better. The sugars are breaking away much easier and it’s not as green tasting as it looks. It still needs some time.

Looks potent, and I love the scenery views. Well done!
Thank you @Stunger , I’m still not sure what I think about this grow.
The humidity in the jars wants to creep up into the low 70’s RH. It’ll be a longer cure than I thought. The taste is getting fruity with some spice and is more potent than expected. ;)

I broke down the grow-bag, roots filled it completely. Some even tried getting through the bottom.
It was an interesting grow. I probably should have closed the door window in the upper part of the door. Dew might have gotten in, who knows. What ifs? :peace:

Hey stink - I'm starting to think that when you strive for big, dense buds you start rolling the dice!!! I hate that feeling of when you are trimming up a nice fat cola and then dig into the centre, just to make sure...and there it is that dirty rotten, scummy, browney crap!!!! I must admit I utter bad words, LOUDLY!!!!

whoa nellie- that was one heck of main stem porn shot back on page 6. yeah I can’t get over that trunk….. really hate that you had some losses but it was a major win overall.

totally agree - little more time but you know shoulda coulda woulda dont cut it. the main point being she will fill many jars

The bud is taking its time to cure. I got lucky in that the bud had some potency when chopped. There is always next year.

I think we roll the dice with any grow. For me, I think I will always go for it rather than sacrifice a plants full potential. It is discouraging and sad when anything unexpected happens. We work to achieve the best we can. I was probably loudly uttering some of the same words. Sorry for your losses greenjeans. Better luck for us with the next one.

She had a trunk. I cant really complain, I got some jars and its really pretty nice. Next year is another shot. Thanks for following.

It’s been a bit over two weeks since the chop. We just had our first freeze two days ago. Fall is here and winter is coming fast.

I broke down the buds pretty far when jarring, but didn’t do much more than pull the fans before hanging. My jars might be overfilled. There are two large jars with 115g each and a couple full smalls. Its taking awhile for the humidity to drop. I grabbed a handful and pulled the leaves for a pic. I think I lucked out considering. Another month and the buds will look great. They have a nice green. :peace:

This was a fun plant to grow. It had been awhile since I grew a large plant. The previous year I grew three outdoors, they were not very large, averaging 4 zips. Because of dew, I was moving them under cover every night in flower. There was no rot but it was a hassle moving them. For this grow I decided to get the greenhouse and grow 1 large plant in it. Next year I will try again with 1 plant. Even with the losses this year, I am very happy with this grow. Growing cannabis has a very calming effect on me. I enjoy it.

Most of the bud is in larger jars (4zp) and still at 71% RH. The RH has been slow to drop in the big jars. When drying, some buds ended up loose, I dried them on cardboard and jarred separately, these buds are now at 65-66% RH and what I have been sampling. The 2 bud pics are the same random bud from these drier buds. It’s about the size of half a bic lighter. Pics were taken under a desk lamp so not the best quality.

Preliminary Smoke Report – STRONG :Rasta:
I was really surprised at how hard hitting and long lasting this buzz is. We must have been in the harvest window. The smell is fruity and still a bit green. It has a much better taste than smell. It tastes of juicy fruit gum, lime and spice. Looks wise, it has a creamy green color and is covered in trichomes. What also surprised me is it has that old school chest expansion when taking a puff. You get hit with a strong powerful euphoric rush on exhale that can turn a little manic or confusing at first. For daytime, I love it now, it’s easy to keep an upbeat buzz without a crash. When I comedown I am spent and crash. If smoked at night it keeps me up.

I think the bud will only improve from here. I’ll update this smoke report when the rest stabilizes, it will have had a nice, real cure. I will keep this journal open for next season. It’ll be here soon! :green_heart:

Thanks for following.
Happy grows :peace:
