~~Alfalfa Brew with AFF (alaska fish fert) & MOL (organic blackstrap molasses)~~

Good Afternoon 420!
As I have posted in a couple journals about building and implementing my own brew/tea setup. Here are all the pieces you need to accomplish this yourselves.

Parts List:
20Gal tote w/lid - 7 @ HD
20Gal whisper air pump - 10 @ petsmart
6' of air line - 2 @ petsmart
5" airstone - 1.50 @ petsmart
1qt of AFF - 8 @ HD
1qt of mol - 4 @ health food store
1 bag of Alfalfa - price varies based on size of bag I got a 25lb bag for 17 @ a feed store

Here is the receipe I am working with: of course I amended it for my setup
ALFALFA TEA Recipe

20 GALLON TRASH CAN or Container with Lid
16 CUPS ALFALFA PELLETS (obtained from feed stores)
1/2 BLACKSTRAP MOL/Agave
1 CUP FISH EMULSION

Add the pellets to the container. Fill container with water. Stir a lot or turn on air pump with airstone. Cover container tightly with lid. For the next three days stir "tea" several times a day in order to dissolve the pellets. Keep covered. On the third day add fish emulsion and MOL. It is ready to use on any vegetable, plant, tree or bush.
Let stand for up to one week until it bubbles with fermentation. Your nose will tell you that it's ready and boy this is the truth... :)

So here we go....
Here is my container with 10gal of water with airstone pumping away.
This is the whisper I have

This is after a few days of bubbling away and boy you can smell it when you remove the lid...

Next I add the Aff and Mol let that bubble for another day and then use it on your ladies

I also mark the side of the container so I wouldn't have to measure out my water again. I can just add the hose to it and fill.
I took this picture about half way through my feeding.

so there you have it. Please all comments questions are WELCOME!
Have a great day!
:peace:

Looks like a serious BREW you have going on there! ;)

Does the stuff smell really bad between the A pellets and the Fish Emulsion? I imagine that it would based on the Alaska Fish Emulsion alone! I use the same brand but only on my outdoor plants cause I can't take the odor indoors.

Too bad you don't have any purples so we could test our theory on this working as well as something like Purple Maxx to bring out the purp in that phenotype.

Thanks for the link to your journal! I'm subbed in now and will be following along from here on out! Your clones look amazing! I had no idea what you were up to over here! :thumb:

Hey guys been really busy this week on vaca :) went camping for the first time in years... was quite fun!!! and with football starting just been really crazy!
I will have full updates Monday morning.
Have a great weekend 420!
:peace:

You're doing a superb job, my friend! Keep up the good work!

I especially like the out-of-the-box thinking on the MG nutes!
And I LOVE the alfalfa tea! One thing you might consider regarding the tea.....

AFF will produce a tea that favors fungi over bacteria. Fungi are more beneficial for woody plants and trees....stuff that grows for several years or more. Our favorite plants like more of a bacterial tea, which you could get by adding worm castings and a dash of compost instead of the AFF....brewed the same way you're doing your alfalfa tea, along with the alfalfa.

Thanks Doc. Yeah everything is going really well.
I did not know that so thank you very much. It is really hard to find that around where I am, but I managed to locate some.
Again thanks and that is why we all need your expertise around here!
:peace:

not really. I mean if it was in your living room you might not want to use it but really not to bad with a lid on it.

I know I am working on that :) coming in the next few weeks but then a few months after that....

Thanks as always and I will be by shortly! You have some truly great lookin grows! keep it up and keep it green!

If your tea stinks, you should not use it. The process of brewing teas creates an aerobic environment in the bucket, and aerobic bacteria will break things down in a manner that won't create Hydrogen Sulphide, the stinky gas....the fart smelling gas. That gas is created by anaerobic processes....and that's where the pathogens come from.

You must have good aeration in the bucket! If your tea stinks, don't use it.

~~ Monday Morning PIC/INFO Update - FLR Room~~

Good morning everyone! I hope everyone had a great weekend!
Things are moving along very nicely in the FLR Room. We are at day 44!
The buds are swelling up and there is def signs of really nice trich production.
Temps 66 to 77 and rh is still a little high around 56 to 62 (with lights off). It is almost time to break out the dehumidifier...

These first 5 are of Day 42!

~~ Monday Morning PIC/INFO Update - VEG Room~~

I have a made a lot of changes in the veg room. There were just way to many clones in here and all of them were doing pretty well. I culled 7 to make room. I need to put 3 or 4 into flr soon probably by this weekend... we will see. 1 is already 20" but the others just are not quite there yet. so hopefully by this weekend they can go in. I want them all to be a least 18" before going in.

Here is the current Clone Height Chart
HeightChartClones4.jpg

These are the smaller ones on the bench, I have 6 in 4gal pots and 5 in 1/2gal still.
2011-09-12_06-49-30_928.jpg

Here are the 7 largest waiting to into FLR
2011-09-10_06-58-40_752.jpg

2011-09-12_06-49-46_365.jpg

So now I have a much more managable amount of clones to deal with 18 of them. I am hoping to put 3 to 4 of these in FLR every month or so... we shall see if that is going to work.
Have a great day 420!
:peace:

Good morning 420
Not a lot going on this morning. FLR room is doing well. I need to start getting my humidity down for the last 2 week push. I have a large 45 pint dehumidifier, but it pumps so much hot air out that I hate to run it...
I guess I will have to put it in away.
Veg is doing well its just doing great. everything is growing and stretching like it should. I have to trans a few more this week and I will be putting in 3 more into FLR on Saturday (9/17). The plan is to have 2 CCs and either an RB or BCR every month for my perpetual. well thats the plan anyway. 9 in FLR at all times.
:peace:

Everything is looking really good to me MS! :thumb:

Keep up the great work! Looks to me like you are on your way to some nice harvests! :yahoo:

:thanks: very much! I am really stoked as this is way different than my last run. My last run was a larger number and I just wanted to get them from begging to end without to many problems and I did.
They are monsters in FLR now, I prefer to grow a smaller number of plants, but I want them BIG!

Should be wrapping up a few of these in a couple weeks, yeah! :roorrip:
:peace:

~~VEG INFO/PIC Update~~

Veg is growing out of control in a good way :) some will be going into FLR this weekend.
They are between 18 and 24" now. I will put up the chart Monday morning.

Here are a few pics of my current VEG area.
This is a pic of the bench with 1/2gal and 4gal pots. I will be transplanting a few of these tomorrow and willl snap a few photos of this process for my journal tomorrow.

I hope everyone here at 420 has a great day!!
:peace:

Those plants do look really healthy. How tall are they when going into bloom on average?

:peace:

I like them over 18" before I start getting ready to put them in and well on their way into that full veg growth stage.
so to answer your question 20 to 24" is avg.

I have 3 or 4 going into flower this weekend. I have 2 for sure, but I may slide 1 or 2 more in we shall see....

As always thanks for stopping by and come by anytime. The more questions the better.

:peace:

~~Friday Pitcure/Information Update~~

Good morning 420!
Well last night was a busy one. I had been brewing another tea since Monday and it was time to feed all the girls last night.
I am gong to start with the FLR room. I fed them 64z of Brew (modified reciepe thanks to doc, I put in casting as well as a little biotone and took out AFF) as I like to call it and 128z of water + mol (20ml). They were all pretty thristy and hungry. We are getting closer to the end and are getting ready to havest soon... yeah!!!
I tranplanted 3 more last night and I will show those pictures at the end of this post as they are in veg and everything in veg is looking just great.

I am going to start with the pics of the FLR room
Here is RB2 (resin bomb) which is Resin Bomb (Dutch Flowers Blowfish X Deep Chunk), she is like 42" tall from her base and is just fatting up ever so nicely.
2011-09-16_06-55-38_403.jpg

Here is a closeup of her cola which is the size of a grown mans arm :)
2011-09-16_06-55-53_886.jpg

this is still rb2 with some different light
2011-09-16_06-59-02_107.jpg

this is CC1 or LAconf cheese (We took our triple crown winner, LA Confidential, and crossed her into the Exodus Cheese (Skunk #1) cut. This strain is light green and stinky with a sweet taste and a very medicinal high. Some pheno's will be short like the LA and some will be taller like the Exodus. LA Confidential x Cheese 70% Indica : 30%)
She is my fav, there is always that one that catches your eye and just pulls you toward her throughout the grow and she is that one for me :)
2011-09-16_07-03-18_149.jpg

here is a little closer to her tops (many of them btw)

here is another of her tops i just wish I could capture her true essence, i will keep trying lol

2011-09-16_07-04-05_159.jpg

this is my bcr2 which is over 50" and what a beauty!! bcr is (C Roadkill Skunk X Deep Chunk indica.
The mother of this hybrid is our own proprietary clone, and in our hearts is as legendary as any of the others in our collection. Simply put, this is the stinkiest herb in any of our gardens, rivalling even the UK cheese. The flowers exude an intense Skunk odour with astringent/citrus undertones. The Hybrid with Deep Chunk The smoke is thick and full flavoured, and the effect is an intense “stone”; narcotic and somewhat trance inducing, yet always enjoyable.) I hope she is as advertised as I have never tasted her before so we shall see soon enough. she is certainly the stinkiest in my garden so far, really pungent. I love it!

~~VEG UPDATE with New Transplants~~

I had to transplant 3 more as they were root bound in 1/2gal pots, how do I know they were you ask... well... when I went to water them the water ran out the bottom about as fast as I could poor it in! sure enough I pulled them out and it was mostly root ball deluxe!
so here is the new look veg room as it sits now.
Here is the shelf that the last 3 1/2gal and 4gal sit on
2011-09-16_06-55-11_217.jpg

Here are the 8 largest that are getting ready to go into flr. a couple of them are close to 24" already:
2011-09-16_06-54-51_482.jpg

please drop any info here you like, questions comments concerns and the like. there are no dumb questions and I may have even missed something you see so please drop it off here.

I hope everyone has a great weekend!
Keep it GREEN and :peace: to all!

Looking good MS! :thumb:

Keep it up! :)

Thanks for stopping by! yeah everything is proceeding as scheduled, this run has been nice and smooth so far. I hope it stays that way

The flowering plants looks great. Have you thought about defoliating some fan leafs to provide more lights to the lower buds?

Thanks for stopping by!
I did last run, but not this one, they are only a couple of weeks from harvest so I have decided not to defoilinate this run. I may again in the future, but not sure. There is much debate on this subject and I am not sure which way I lean on it... don't know if my last run benefitted from it or not and I decided not to this time.
:peace:

~~Monday VEG Picture/Information Update~~

Good Morning 420. It was a good weekend and I put 3 new ladies into FLR! yeah.
They weren't as tall as I would have liked them, but I know they should strech over the next few weeks.

Here is the height chart for veg. I have put the 3 that went into flr in their own column.
HeightChartClones5.jpg

This is the new look veg after transplating 3 more last thursday and putting the 3 largest into FLR.
I have been really pleased with VEG this run, they all look and are so healthy.

2011-09-19_06-26-21_111.jpg

these are in the large pots and should go into flr in 2 to 3 weeks.

2011-09-19_06-26-45_865.jpg

These are the 3 new in FLR, from now on I will post these in the FLR updates, but for today I decided they can still be part of the VEG update.

2011-09-19_06-29-45_439.jpg

Well there you have it. I nice little weekend update. Don't have to do much with the weather changing it has really been the perfect conditions for them to thrive in. It is so nice not to have to run ac, dehumidier or a humidifier at all , wish it was this way all the time. LOL :)

Thanks everyone that stops by!
:peace:

~~Monday FLR Room Picure/Information Update~~

The FLR room is moving along nicely and we are day 51, but I think with their size and type they are going to go from 60 to 65 days. I will start monitoring trichs with my scope in the next couple of days.
I am expecting 4 to 6zs per plant for the 4 largest and somewhere below 4 for the others but above 2. we shall see...

so here we have RB2 she is 40 something inches from her base and has become a trully beautiful plant. She stated as a clone and was 2" tall on 6/14, boy she has come a long way! :thumb:

2011-09-19_06-27-55_517.jpg

2011-09-19_06-28-53_206.jpg

This is a great shot of her cola which is just huge and getting thicker and stickier (not a word but fits).
2011-09-19_06-28-12_447.jpg

This is the upper half of CC1 which is 38 inches or so (at least she was last time I measured her on 8/29 and she 2" on 6/14 as well.
2011-09-19_06-28-23_884.jpg

Have a great day everyone and the next couple of weeks should be very exciting around here, we have cloning to do next weekend and the weekend after that is harvest time.
I am really hoping to get 26z from 6 plants, so we shall see.
:peace:
