Big news... octopot... roots are in full and touching down around the pot. Multiple beautiful white roots...

So I have emptied the reservoir as it was still exposed to light.. refreshed the water.

I've added 20 ml of A n B ... well under dosage. I'll see what happens. I've also added calmag just 5 ml.. again well under dosage just enough to be in there...
.the ppm went for 303ppm to 700ppm ...

So I suspect the roots will begin the res by the morning and I'll be seeing some signs of positivity hopefully with the octopot test..

Well this is where you should be checking out @GanjaPreneur420 diary... he's running a smooth set up with a few proper ones.

They basically take the best of both worlds.. hydro and soil... the soil or what ever top medium you choose takes the job of oxygen and the roots that find the res take care of the water so the plant turns hybrid... there some process that happens to the water to help keep it oxygenated enough so the roots don't rot, it don't require an air bubbler...

I was hooked instant I Saw It.

That Is the company's video promoting it... sorry if not allowed to post links

So the roots have been immersed for about 2 hours.. no sign of any burn happening up top so that's good surly.. I've check the ph now the water has settled and it's 5.2 on the digipen.. ppm is 703.... I've used the soil 3in1 ph meter and that reads 5.5... so it can't be too far off right. So I think I can assume safely that my soils are still 6.5+ so I will defo be dropping them again...

The octopot soil is at 7.0 clean.. I'm wondering if when the roots start up taking and 5.5 ph water is passing through the system maybe the p.h will naturally drop over time giving me a steady range in the mean time..

So a cheeky bonus picture for tonight.. it's lights out in an hour so well see what the girls are saying then..
If you look at the picture 2 hours ago if the roots you'll see that one that's turning down at the front. Wish i had waterproof night vision go pro to stick down there..

Lookin real good Th34v4t4r! Yea sorry about the tray sitting in the reservoir I thought I had mentioned that however it looks like you fixed it pretty quick. I wish I was able to provide more input on feeding but I am still trying to figure that situation myself..

Keep it up looks good,:ganjamon:

No problem. I'm sure you did mention them being fully submerged.. I've also took a deep look at the wick. I've got a way to create one very similar for when I up pot.... except I wont up pot the other 2 .. if this test run goes well for the next 2 week and I see good improvement. I'll let the other 2 get a little root bound and the take them out thier sleeves and add my wick.

I knowing thinking ahead again but I like to be prepared as such. Where budget allows...

Also whe it comes to feed. I think where the system says half feed is a bit bollox... if my plant don't get nute burn then I know my theory of it is sort of correct.. ..

Your 6gal res is about 22l.. but it won't be filled to capacity will it.. I reckon you've got about 18lmax the rest is the breather space... if your guideline is like mine. 1- 3ml per litre then going along with them guideline will be fine..

My basis is 1ml/l is weak and 3ml is strong. But again that's on my nutes..

My tub is 35l I reckon I've got 25l in there and I've given 20ml of A , 20ml of B and 5ml of calmag.. these are well under recommendation and having a 700ppm.. ppm is about 800 recommended I think increasing to 2ml amd 3ml possibly 4 as weeks go on..

I hope it all goes well. My only concern is mould on the sleeve or stagnant water... if I don't get either. My other 2 plants are going hybrid

So I've had my head into these octopots for the past few hours again.. I've took a 3l bottle filled it 5 times and marked out 15l point.... then another 2 to mark the 21l point. Now I have a scale of how many litres I'm holding. At any one time. I'll mark out the 12l point as my absolute base lvl for water.... any lower I'll consider the danger zone...

So ow I kmow I'm at 21l and I've had 20ml of A n B go in I can rest I'm safe... the plants look healthy and the roots are taking to the water lovely (I think)

Im considering whether to just order my net pots and go for it.. hybrid the other 2.. (patience I hear you all scream)

Any way. Im going to cover each plant 1 by 1 with some photos ..

Lefty,middle and right

So here's lefty..
20181230_160928.jpg20181230_161049.jpg20181230_161053.jpg

So I've gave you a treat and turned of the lights for this one... lefty as you know I was concerned about the bushy growth.. it was just bunches of leaves and there coming through a treat now.. still small still slow but it's growing.. the branches are gaining some separation and thickness too..

Middlish...20181230_161124.jpg20181230_161105.jpg20181230_160924.jpg

She is really green. And I'm expecting her to absolutely blossom very soon..

Right... well it willingly let me upload 10 photos so I will put them in in a sec..
As it is .. Mr a righty is giving off loads of healthy new bushy growth all over and getting taller... we have recovered...

Those observant ppl will notice I have placed my other 2 pots on there resevoirs.. this is only to see what it'll look like when I transplant them into the hybrid solution.. I've marked all the tubs up.. and I'm really keen to transplant.. unfortunatly the plan ts will have to grow so I can pull them over to the centre as my light coverage is going to be fairly weaker on the outskirts.

When they are bigger though I should be able to rag them to the centre and have them hydrod up...

Looking good over here! Keep it up!

That DIY Octopot seems to be working well so far! Interesting to see how it continues into flower

The octopot.. to give deeper analysis... it is wet to the touch an Inch above the top of the container.. the top 4 inch are dry.... it seems to have settled in really well.

It's not so moist that I'm worrying about mold just yet. But i have noticed since the roots have been in the drink.. that's when the bottom of my pot became moist... I reckon by the time I've made my new octo pot sleeve and transplanted them all. I reckon the bigger sleeve will allow for more moisture to disperse evenly... the diameter of my pot is only about 5 inch wide... I dare say the official ones are around 6-8 inch wide. Up potting will be the solution to Any problems I find I'm confident of this.. the only thing that will fuck me up now is me. Not regulating things as I should..

Update time.. one for @Kongfuzi cause you know how he loves me fiddling around doing things I shouldn't.

Topping... oh we yea I did all around aswell

And then I sorta made a lot size scrogg net.. just to open Mrs rightys legs just a little bit...

I've topped her main stem and a few of the new growth around it.. got them flat and opened up the lower branches. Those pathetic few at the bottom the were mere millimetres have been chopped too. I want to focus what ever energy it's providing to the put her edges..

P.s a cheeky pic of our little wolf having the clipping lmao. He pulls the leaves apart and spits it back out. Loves it

I've just had to go and plug my van onto my carbon filter.. I walked into the bedroom and there was this lovely fresh smell of citrus floating through the air... 5 minutes after the filter went on the smell went away... boooooooo... but it's for the best lmao... how ever.. that's a really good sign that they are starting to guff the place out in B.O

Any one got some spare litmus paper
any chance you have a pet store or Wally-mart nearby? They have it. also may try a local pharmacy, we have bought it at CVS. Should be abt 5 bucks (US)

*****EDIT**** Sorry, I wasn't watching the dates. You have no doubt worked it out by now.

*****EDIT**** Sorry, I wasn't watching the dates. You have no doubt worked it out by now.

Don't your worry about those dates old fella.... my misses works at a hospital.. She managed to pinch a few dip strips they use to test urine....it has a ph scale on it... although it was a bit crappy.. also I broke my new p.h pen. Fucking thing dropped it in water.. I kmow right designed for water and breaks when submerged.

Hope you enjoyed the read so far.

So guys... I've come to the realization today that there's still a problem with my plants... well the 2 in the soil/coco medium... they are still growing really slow... the growth is healthy but it's slow.. I'm on day 43!!!vegging!!! Somewhere along the way they are being super stressed... so.. I'm looking at my rh and temps.. 43% but 31°c which is too high. So I've turned my 300w off. Switched the 600w to blues.. and centered it above the girls.. I have also turned my extractor on 24/7, it was set to 15mins every hour.. this means the heat can build... I'll give it an hour in there and check the temps and I dare say itll be 26° roughly

The octopot however is now taller then the other two and it was planted lower down with a bend at the stalk.. so that's good.. the roots arnt getting longer either they are merely all just growing into the water an Inch or so getting thicker.... but I guess as the water goes down so will they...

I have noticed abit of a smell coming from the res aswell when I stick my nose in.... that cnt be good (stagnant water bacteria ???)

Anyway hope you lot had a good new year here's a few photos..
