Virgin Grower - Badboy Lights - Fox Farms - LST - Nirvana Seed

Quick Update Day 29 flowering
Here's a few shots showing the impressive bud development on the bag seed. Not show is the AK48 which is now nearly 6 inches taller than anyone else in the closet and continuing to stretch. In addition to being taller, she is at least 1.5 times as wide as the next closest and will probably hit the 2x mark any time now. Nirvana AK48 is definitely a keeper.

Another quick update. I decided to move the AI into the flower room today. SO i rearranged the plants to optimize the space and added a few cfls to augment the lighting and was able to fit her in. The room is really full but I wanted the veg space for the clones I have cut.

Will post an updated pic this weekend.

Mini update:
Fed/Watered the girls with 5 gallons last night. The AK48 is huge with dozens if not hundreds of bud sites coming up. I also pollinated 3 secondary branches on the AK with some of the pollen from the bag seed. I know the pollen collection I took is fertile, as I can clearly see seed pods on the sites I pollinated earlier on the female bag-seed girls.

I'll try to get updated photos up in the next day or two, I know it's been about a week since the last photo update.

Photo Update of the week Bag seed Day 36 flower AK48 day 21

The Headline really needs to be how great the AK48 from Nirvana is doing. It is stretching like crazy with fantastic bud site development

The next headline is that one of the bag-seed buds is clearly beginning to throw pink pistils and I can see the beginning of pink on other buds. Unfortunately I have no idea on the variety, but am glad I bred her with the male before sending him to the compost.

I have read that the AK likes to stttttttttttretch. How much has she stretched since you put her into flowering?

BTW plants look good. :goodjob:

I'm interested in this too. From what I gather you veg'd 6 weeks?

1. How tall was AK48 at end of veg? Now?

Not meaning to derail or anything, but my biggest AK48 is 29days into veg. The other plants are 15 days in.

I just took these for comparison:

If I recall correctly the AK was right around 17 or 18 inches tall and around 15 inches wide when I put he in flower. I just measured her this morning and she now stands 51 inch's tall by 38 inches wide. So that's right at a 3x stretch by day 22 of 12/12!! If my reading has been correct the stretch goes for 3 or 4 weeks so she may still add a few more inches before she is done.

I grew 3 AK48 a while back, I got 2 males and 1 female. I used one of the males to fertylize Diesel, White Widow and a Skunk plant. I have tried one of these crosses out, the AK Diesel cross came out looking more indica at first but did a 5x stretch and internodes are 4 inches apart! Massive stem diameter too. Plant variation is minimal but this is not my idea of a good indoor plant. The one female AK was a picky feeder, did a 2x stretch, smelled of cherry, made medium small buds and a low yielder however she made pretty good smoke! Maybe I should try some of the other 7 seeds I have left for a different pheno search.

Bassman, The AK vegged for 2 days short of 6 weeks right at 40 days i believe.

Weekend Update
No pictures, but feedback needed

Was away for a 4 day weekend. The girls looked healthy when I got home, but sucked up 6 gallons of/nute/water this evening.

SO a question on odor control again. I have a foothill filters scrubber inthe grow room, but it doesnt seem to keep up with the smell. Its an 8 x 14 ACTIVATED CARBON FILTER ODOR SCRUBBER 240 CFM. According to the vendor it was designed for "THIS FILTER WAS DESIGNED TO CLEAN THE AIR IN AN AVERAGE 12 X 12 X 8 ROOM OR SLIGHTLY LARGER." The actually grow space is approximately 3x5x6. So the question is this. I have the unit sitting in the corner of the grow space on the floor. Would you think it would perform better is it were mounter to the top of the space. I guess the question is do the odor molocules weigh more than air and sink to the floor, or as I suspect do they rise to the top of the space with the hot air? I suspect part of the issue is also the number of plants in the space. It is full with 6 flowering females right now. Any feedback is welcome.

As it sits now, my wife has indicated that she would like to see this grow complete and the experiment to end once harvested. I made a compromise with her that the experiment would continue but I would limit to 1 or 2 plants at a time to keep the odor in check. The real concern for me however is that if the 1 or 2 plants at time still overpower the scrubber, I will be forced to pull the plug going forward. I have contemplated ozone, but after reading on possible side effects would prefer to not go that way. I have considered adding another scrubber as well if consensus is that it would do the trick. Ultimately I think the real issue is that the room is center of house in basement and can not vent out or exchange air from the outside.

Lastly, I decided that if I were to be limited to one at a time, that I would do so with good genetics. So I took advantage of Attitude Seeds October special and bought the following single seeds

Dutch Passion Frisian Dew Feminized Seeds
Green House Seeds Hawaiian Snow Feminized
Dutch Passion Mekong High
Barneys Farm Tangerine Dream Feminized
FREE G13 Labs Auto AK Feminzed
FREE G13 Labs Purple Haze Feminized
FREE G13 Labs Pineapple Express Feminized
UFO#1 Paradise Nebula Feminized
UFO#2 Paradise Seeds Wappa Feminized

Right now I,m leaning towards Green House Seeds Hawaiian Snow Feminized as the next one to germinate, but am open to anyone with experience with these varieties and which one(s) would be more conducive to stealth grow and odor control.

I am definitely excited about trying some of these strains and hope to germinate one lucky girl in early to Mid November once the current girls complete.

Grab some ONA gel, place in a bucket with a fan blowing over it with a small amount of water (iirc). You wife will be happy.

**disclaimer: As you know I'm new at this, but tons of reviews have stated it eliminates odor. Do a couple google searches and search here. I dont need it yet, but I'm picking mine up tomorrow since I know I will need it within the next week or two.

Odor can be a real pain to conquer. Is it the bagseed plants or the AK? Like I said earlier my AK smelled mildly like cherry and then after cure had a really nice spice smell. How is the Aurora doing? I have in the past kept a small fan venting into the attic while the lights were on and a couple hours before and after so the smell doesn't build up. I have grown a couple varieties that nothing would cover their scent too. Ona Gell can work well and oddly in my area there are so many skunks that an easy smell to explain is some serious skunk. Lucky I like a good strong skunk variety.

Dr Thanks for stopping by. It's hard for me to tell which plant(s) is/are the culprit as my sense of smell is nearly nonexistent. I just know that my wife has an extraordinary sense of smell and is very sensitive and concerned with the odor embracing the entire house. The odor has been confirmed by 2 additional people who indicate they can smell the girls as soon as they enter the house. definitely a problem. I ordered something similar to ona from amazon (The Original Bad Air Sponge Odor Neutralant - ) as it was more favorably reviewed there. Well see if that helps. I'm really not as concerned with this grow as I know 6 plants are overloading the filters i have. But i definitely want to make sure it can keep up when i drop down to or or 2 girls at a time. An update on the AI is below

Weekend Update
Fed the girls 5 gallons water with some added molasses. Odor is still strong, and humidity continues to be an issue. Currently running around70% RH.

Group shot of the girls. Notice how big the AK48 t relative to the rest of the girls. The AK is on the right and nearly twice as tall as the others. She occupies about half of the closet.

The AK48 is now at day 30 of 12/12 and very impressive.

The AI is on day 22 of 12/12 and continuing to stretch. The flowers are just now begining to develop and is much more compact than the AK48

The Bagseed girls are now at day 45 of 12/12 and the buds are really putting on the weight and thickening up. I think they should be ready to harvest in the next 7 to 10 days!

Bassman, how are you liking ONa at this point? Have you received it yet?

I picked it up Tues. Last night I took maybe 3 tbls full and dropped in into a QT plastic container, added maybe an equal amount of water just as a temporary measure because I need a bigger drill bit to make my bucket. I placed this outside my tent in a closed off room that was pretty stenchy when ya walk in. Today I dont even notice the smell.

I dont have a carbon filter running, and I only did this as a quick fix and to see what would happen (my plants are on 36hr dark atm). So I think this will work very nicely when I make the bucket and drop a fan over it to circulate.

wow, that AK48 has stretched! How tall overall is it?

I just flipped the switch on mine. The tallest is just a hair over 11" and was bushy as hell. Took some clones and can finally see the bottom of the main stalk.

Better get the humidity down or you will see problems. Hot and humid=budrot. Try to get below 55%.
