Double tiered drying box. Works fine in a pinch.

don't wanna derail the thread .... have used wardrobe boxes myself in the past as drying boxes.

be careful, as cardboard is a desiccant, so it will pull water from the plants faster than other environments. making for a harsh premature dry in some conditions .. essentially anything with rh 40% or under.

if you want to halt the desiccant action in drier climates, line the box with plastic. the boxes are still a decent idea in a pinch if you work them right.

in wet conditions - rh 60% and up - the cardboard winds up holding the moisture, and has the opposite effect. raising the rh, and possibly promoting bud rot and mold. again the same remedy works, lining the box with plastic, but it will need the addition of air movement, intake and exhaust, computer fans are usually enough.


edit: or just enough passive opening.

I didn't feel like finding a picture, so I went looking for something interesting relating to cannabis to post about.

Δ⁹-Tetrahydrocannabivarin aka THCV is a compound found predominantly in sativa type cannabis plants. Its precursor is CBDGA as opposed to the CBGA that is the precursor of THC and CBD. It could be promising in the area of weight loss therapy. Reportedly, it improves connectivity in the areas of the brain that are altered in people who suffer from obesity. One study found that it also improves insulin sensitivity in mice, leading to the thought that it could offer some benefit to type 2 diabetics. Another study found it is helpful with pain and inflammation (which often causes pain) and another one is looking at it as possible treatment of tremors associated with diseases such as ALS, parkinsons, etc.

It is most commonly found in pure sativas originating in Asia and Africa.

This is summarized from a random webpage I found when doing a search for articles about THCV. It cited studies which I verified could be found in pubmed, researchgate, NIH. I glanced at the studies, seemed legit, didn't go through all the nitty gritty of them though. too much like work

Fun fact: also according to this website, THCV's boiling point is about 400 degrees, so it's not going to bake out of your cookies if you cook them at 350. Sorta seems counter-productive if you're using the THCV for weight loss / diabetes control

Doug's Varin is noted for it's high THCV content. So's Pineapple purps (one source cited a 3:1 thcv to thc ratio). Other cultivars which contain more than usual percentages = Jack the Ripper, Durban poison, Malawi Gold, and GSC.

Two small flaps at the top and bottom in the back. Can be opened or closed as needed as well as a fan blowing past the bottom one if needed. Can see how the cardboard can hold or draw out moisture, definitely something to be aware of. Drying box is only used when the grow room is occupied.
