The Quest For A Kilo

I'm holding off on more training until the coco is delivered, shes in real need of a transplant to her final pot.

Pretty much decided now on the 56 litre pot, I will just need to be careful and make sure she is fully rooted before flipping to 12/12, hopefully another six or seven weeks will do the job ;)

So rather than training, she got another defol this afternoon, nothing major other than removing most of the fan leaves :)

Before defol

After defol

And... it seems I may have been a little rough with the torture. Split the main stem where she was topped.

Not to worry, she should be fine :)

Nice Defol. I like the fact you don't go overboard with it..you never do.

Cool calm and collected as always. Keep up the good work.

Cheers fella!

I used to be of the really hard defol camp, but as I gained more growing experience i found a balance between slowing the plant down and improving overall growth.

Seems to be, just like you said, slow and steady wins the race.

So the plan was to alternate between two big plants. One being northern lights x big bud and purple Kush.

After purple pheno hunting on the purple Kush, I got no purple from three separate seeds. This made the choice of keepers easy - I chose the most vigorous plant and popped the other two into flower.

And a look at the flowering tent. It's a little strange seeing 8 plants in there rather than one :)

Auto anesthesia, another 10 - 14 flowering days left now

And we are now flowering on all the plants, I'm happy with the progress of this 'filler' run, and the veg plants are set up with the strongest phenos, and staggered around 4 weeks apart.

Great job mono. The girls are looking great. Cant wait to see how the fillers do and when the monster is ready for flowering. Its going to be awesome. Cant wait for the next update

Looking good Mono. Nice selection of genetics in the tent. Have you thought about growing Northern lights blue again ?

Thanks bud!

I would like to grow Northern Lights blue again, it yields great and the smoke is good. But it takes a little longer to flower, and it's not too good in the cold

Today I did the much needed training on the next big girl. Going to give her another week before transplant, the daily wet and dry cycles have her growing quicker. Don't want to slow her down.

We are currently 2ft x 2ft, with another seven weeks of veg to go.

The purple Kush clone is going to be the follow on big plant, so today I took two clones from the current big girl, to make the big plant in two big plants time haha

With plans ever changing like the wind, I undid all the ties today and did the transplant from 20 litres upto 56 litres.

I'm going to water her to runoff this evening to wash out any salts in the coco ( canna is generally very good at providing a clean medium, but doesn't hurt to be careful)

I think I will give her a couple of days without the ties, then hit her with another defol and training session.

Lights are on in the flowering tent in a couple of hours so I will update on the filler run tonight :)

Hey Mono, I've got a similar 4ftx4ft tent and 600w ready and waiting for my coco to be delivered.

It's my first EVER proper grow and I've invested about £350 so far and haven't switched on a light yet,

Could you recommend a novice strain? Please as I'd be adjusting to coco etc, my previous exp would be White Widow in Soil/Perlite under 600hps and only made it to veg as security issues were a concern and I had to abort the plant and setup. I've researched loads and I'm confident to get my first real grow going.

Sorry for hijacking u can't PM yet you see.

Keep up the great work

There are not really any 'easy' strains to grow, the ones marketed for new growers are usually just high yielding strains, that will produce well even if neglected.

If you go for a hybrid strain, roughly balanced indica and sativa you will come off really well. It's really just plants that lean further to the sativa side of things that can become more difficult to grow due to their nutrient and heat sensitivity, plus the longer flowering time gives more time for any issues to develop.

If I had to pick a strain for a first time grower it would be something with Northern Lights or skunk in the genetics.

The main movement at the moment is in the flowering tent, vegetative growth gets quite repetitive after a while.

I took the auto anesthesia out the tent this evening, she is next for harvest tomorrow.

I had to do a harsh super crop on one of the purple Kush to keep her down below the height of the light. More of a crack and bend of the stem this time.

And the flowering northern lights x big bud. She has produced a really good structure during her stretch, so I'm hoping for some good things for the more vigorous one I have in veg
