DocBud's Next Medical Grow

Nice looking plants very lush :bravo:

Doc are you still using mittleiders weekly mix for micronutes? How do you add it to your medium?

Yep! I still use it, but about every other week. The 10 bucks I spent last year will give me enough micro's for the next 5 years.

I have it mixed up into a 1 gallon bucket with a lid and a little 1 tsp scoop inside. I just put a scoop in each pot about every 2 weeks.

There are all kinds of sources for micro's, and I highly recommend getting a good micro product. Don't grow without micro's!

Is the mittleiders weekly just mixed with epsom salt? Sorry I just got mine in the mail the other day and I'm trying to decide if I'm gonna use it for this grow or not.

Yes, it's mixed with epsom salt. The instructions for mixing it are on their website somewhere. I would also suggest adding the smallest bit of 20 Mule Team Borax to each pot a few weeks into veg, right before you bloom. When I say a small amount, I'm talking like how much you could grip with chopsticks....just a few granules! Don't even think in terms of tsp's.

A thin layer of borax about half the size of a smile :) <like that one is about right for the borax.

Mixed with the epsom salt, those two bags of micro's you got from Mittleider are going to last a long, long time.

I ate to many green:yummy:cookies and I've been sitting here for 20 min trying to think of what 20 mule team Borax would be for?... ok its been 30 min...

Micro Nutes for years for $13 :smokin:

borax is for boron. Boron is a very important micro. Plants won't bloom without it.

The Mittleider website talks about how much to use, etc. They mix the borax into either gypsum or dolomite, depending on the soil type.

OC+ has boron in it. But with the micro's you have you don't need to worry. You do need a pinch of boron, however.

Well Doc, I've read two of your journals, this one and your first. Compared to you I feel like I'm growing weeds...of another sort of course!! Geezz....

Thanks for all the great info especially the hempy grows which I'm very interested in experimenting with.

Nice work man..very impressive.

:peace:

Doc: I'm always blown away by your grows. In fact, I have 'greenish envy'. I'm about to harvest a smallish Northern Lights grown in bubbles-hydro. Her sister is twice her size and a few weeks behind. One problem was my 250w mh lamp burned out a week or so into bloom so I decided to finish using cfl's. I can see that your investment in lights pays huge dividends. As always, thanks for sharing your experiment and erudite articulation...can't wait for the bud porn either.

Doc, I'm going to transplant in the next week or so, I was planning on using OC+ with ffof, greensand, epsoma garden lime and 20% perlite, do you think I should add a little tomato tone or plant-tone to the mix or do you think that would mess with the OC+. Have you had to add any OC+ yet to your plants? looking forward to some more pics:Rasta:

Never used OC+ personally but a lot of people swear by it. Soil I am using is Happy Frog, coarse perlite, and LIGHT WARRIOR. Plants seem to love it. Water with condensate with Sensizym, FF Grow Big, and sometimes some Bush Doktor Kangaroots to promote root health. The main thing for me is not giving the plants too much fertilizer. That's worse than giving them not enough. Only time I up my fertilizer regiment is if they start to yellow in veg. I'm sure there are a million ways to skin a cat, but I am of the mind that if you start out with good soil to begin with, you shouldn't need to fertilize that much at all, seeing as the plant is only living for 3 months, it shouldn't take a whole lot of fertilizer if the plant has good genetics to begin with.

thanks for stopping by the journal! Your growing environment is the most important thing....lights, temps, RH, water, medium. Nutrients are a secondary consideration.

Hey BB, I'd skip the garden lime, as FFOF is already pH balanced. You could add 1/2 charge of tomato tone or plant tone....it would help with the micro herd....but you'll grow great with just the FFOF and OC+.

Yup. I fully agree! I also really like mixing Light Warrior into the soil, it helps drainage and has a good mychoryzae charge.

I also water with condensate.

UPDATE:

Well, I planted 20 Querkle seeds.
19 sprouted
15 are confirmed females. The young lads were sent to plant heaven last night.

We've got crazy growth....but along with that growth I've got a bit of yellowing of lower fan leaves on a few, and 2 of the 3rd Dimensions have the claw, as of last night. I gave 'em a good flush, we'll see what happens.

The PPP are the picture of good health so far.

I still haven't fed them anything other than the soil mix and a bit of tomato tone, top dressed.

I'm going to add a bit of garden lime to them in a week or two, and then I'll make a decision regarding OC+ or some other food.

We've upped the nightime temps a bit so as to keep the nodes tight during stretch, so far so good.

Pictures on Wednesday or so. All is well and buds are on the way!

Update: Been on 12/12 since last Thursday. Stretching going on. Most plants are pretty much perfect, but I have a couple knuckleheads with a slight case of the claw---getting better----and some yellowing lower leaves. Part of the yellowing could be due to the canopy thickness, part could be due to the soil running out of steam just a bit.

I watered with a bit of "Verde" by humbolt nutes. It's loaded with nitrogen, also has iron, zinc, magnesium and kelp hormones. It may be time to add OC+. We'll see.

Temps, humidity....perfect.

Awesome just Awesome!

Thanks bro!

Tonight I watered the Querkle's with a dose of Bushmaster. They are uncharacteristically tall....was it because they were so packed together? Or because of the soil? I don't know, but they're taller than they should be.

So, we're gonna arrest their vertical growth.

I've got some pruning to do on the PPP....if everything continues without major disaster, these plants should be stupid....I'm gonna say minimum 4 oz per plant.

Now is the most nerve wracking time of the grow....you can't veg out any problems, they're blooming. I hope all the buds form properly....

Never grown Querkle but I remember with my Urkle plants I grew the plant got absolutely huge. What I did was LST them for a while and that kept the stretch down quite a bit. Every time a new branch would pop up i would tie it down to the point where it had grown about 17 or 18 branches on 1 plant and 4 main colas and 4 smaller branches on another plant so they were absolutely huge. When flowering, at her peak, the Urkle in my Water Farm would drink the bucket dry in 24 hours. Mind you, this reservoir holds 2.4 gallons. I had 5 other plants growing under a 1000 watt bulb and it just crowded them all out. With the Urkle, I suspect the Querkle as well, when flowering it grows the buds have the sweetest smell and it really makes your mouth water. I can only describe it as a green apple or grape smell. The internodes are extremely close together and the buds are super dense. With the right pheno your plant will turn from green to purple towards the end and take on these amazing colors. You take care of this plant and it will take care of you. I harvested in December and I have barely any left, so that should tell you how much people like it. Some of the best smoke I have ever grown and its great weed to start the day with. A lot of Sativa in her and she won't have you dragging your feet. Definately a strain of weed to smoke in a social type situation or with friends you like to joke around with. When smoking with close friends they are amazed at the grape flavor and purple coloring. When it is growing the purple really stands out under the light, but when it dried and cures the purple becomes less obvious unless you shine a light onto the bud. Very impressive resin profile and even the lower buds maintain a good density which a lot of strains do not. Querkle, and Urkle rock. Too bad Urkle is clone only. I wish everyone could grow some of this amazing plant which I think is better than Grand Daddy Purple, although GDP is very very good in and of itself and has bigger buds than Urk. So, what I think the proper thing to do is get a freakin GDP male and pollenate the clone only Urkle and maybe cross some Querkle in there also and hell, why not some purple kush while we're at it and have us a plant that is the ultimate purple.

Doc,

Thanks for answering my question(s) on your old thread. I was wondering where everyone went, lol.

Getting ready for my next grow. Soils is mixed up and 2 of 4 seeds have sprouted. Will put them in dirt this weekend, I hope.

Sprouted; 1 Nirvana Super Skunk, 1 Papaya. 2 days ago. in peat pellets.
Still waiting; 1 Barneys Farm Vanilla Kush same method, and 1 in paper towel.

Doc, that is about the best garden I have seen! Splendid job!

thanks! It's my best effort so far.

Well, that sounds a lot like these plants! Except while my node spacing started out super tight, they've stretched like crazy....makes no sense, because the rest of the garden is still tight. I'm going to continue the grow it out and hope for some of those famous Subcool ultra-resinous buds!

My friend grew it outdoors, and the plants were about 4 feet tall....mine are about 3.5 feel tall....I dunno. It's not due to excess nitrogen, my mix is hot with everything BUT nitrogen.....I actually had to give some of the other plants a N-bump.

Well, they're healthy, so we'll see what happens.

Doc, I grew querkle last grow and I am again this time round. had 3 plants and all came out different in a good way. One was the most resinous plant I have ever seen, smoke was amazing. I did experience a similar stretch, ended up not having huge colas, but smaller dense nugs, each plant was between 2-3oz. Although none of my Querkles looked as good as yours do, I think your in for a treat with those ladies:cheer:
