Guesstimator's 2014 Grow Journal - 1st Indoor Attempt!

Ok, I got a few minutes to go take some more pics. This is very exciting now, just over week 3 of 12/12 and I am having a blast with this grow! I swear, my one other grow experience was such a mess, it was outdoors and the last 5 weeks the plants lived with my folks (who do not approve of the medication, but still "plant-sat" for me...lol!) for over 5 weeks with no nutes (AT ALL!) and watered once (seriously, only once!). Needless to say, it was a true disaster!!! The fact I got 2 1/2 oz' dry from 6 plants was miraculous, but the quality left much to be desired for sure!

This grow at week 3 already looks better than my last full grow. Granted again, the bar was not set real high. lol. I am seeing what appears to be real good, solid growth all the way down for the most part. It is a thing of true glory that I see those buds just growing away! I've said it before and I will say it a thousand more times: Growing this plant is nearly as calming and soothing as ingesting it*.

*when all things are going well, that is! lol

PLEASE CONTINUE TO KEEP TELLING ME MY ERRORS AND ASSIST IF YOU HAVE ANY INPUT! I am really hoping for a home-run yield to tide me over until the next harvest so please keep the input flowing! Know that I appreciate it a ton folks, really!

And now, the pics:

Looking good buddy :) dont be afraid to use tethers at higher points up limbs. This done gently means you can angle each outer limb a little giving the lower parts more light without anymore defol. Just an idea :)

Fantastic! I love the idea. Thanks Mr. A! I'm headed out there now to give it a shot.

Hey there Guess!

Just found this journal, looking real good dude! I'm on my first also, little babies at the moment but hoping to have the same success as you.

Subscribed, nice work. :goodjob:

Thanks guys for the words of wisdom and kind words as well. I have been LST'ing these plants and further tethered them down yesterday. I took some photos beforehand yesterday and am just now getting to posting them. They are starting to look good to me, but I haven't grown to this degree before so I kinda count on all of you for feedback - how are they developing for week 4? The two shorter ones have a grow time of 7-8 weeks but the tall, damn stretchy Sativa has a 9-11 week period from what I have read. (Kerala X Skunk #1). The buds on that one are noticeably behind, but BOY OH BOY does the darn thing wanna grow! Also, from what I've read about these freebies is that this particular strain likes to be light green no matter what. That's good, because mine is too. lol

So folks, is this on par for week 4? Please help the FNG, it's appreciated! lol

I took the plants outside today to take advantage of a little rain and snapped a few pics along the way. I'd still love to hear any and all feedback for these being right at 5 weeks of 12/12 tomorrow. As mentioned before, this is my first "real" grow and I have no idea what to expect as the weeks progress. I have no idea if these are on par or not, and I'd love some opinions.

The largest of them is the Kerala X Skunk #1 freebie and it's grow is slated to be 9-11 weeks and I hear it can use all 11 weeks just fine, but the other two are allegedly 7-8 weeks.

Ok guess,
I have to be honest with you here.

Your plants are.. Well... AMAZING!
Week 5 and kicking ass!! You are rocking this grow my friend.

For whatever it's worth, I have always (since looking at the trichs) let all my plants run longer than the seedbank's say.
I use a cheap magnifier tool and cut a couple samples of sugar leaves and look for milky turning amber a bit.

EDIT: the last bit there wasn't too scientific, srry

Thank you for the words of encouragement! I see lots of white "whiskers" and they are getting bigger and bigger, but not a true "bud" as I am oh-so-familiar with. lol. I suppose this is a transformational process and all will become more recognizable as the weeks pass by. I can't tell you how much I appreciate hearing some feedback though! After $1,000 invested, untold hours of work tending to them, designing and fabricating the tent, etc... as we all know it's a ton of work and not knowing if you are on-track to succeed is a bit nerve wracking. This is all for personal medicating since medication has become so expensive, who knows what chemicals are added to what you can purchase and we can't be sure where our money actually goes (and therefore whom it supports) - growing at home is such a safer, cheaper (after intital investment of course! lol) and healthier. I really want to thank you for the reassurance!

Have a great weekend all!

It is official. I have ordered 3 of the ZNET4 TOPLED LED lights and should have them within a week or so. Very, very exciting and I can't wait for them to arrive. For those that may have interest, Jimmy6000 has a fantastic test run of these lights seen here J6K - GreenSun Led ZNET4 Test Run

I will update with more pics soon. I have been real under the weather as of late, preventing me from accomplishing much of anything, let alone this thread. Sorry guys!

If things go just right, these will be the last pictures before the LED's go in. They are at week 6.5 today and I take back my earlier comment about not seeing an actual bud...holy guacamole these things are going bonkers! This is so much fun. lol

Don't mind the water. Did a minor flush and wet everything down while doing the pics.

WOOHOO!

Got my tracking number! There's a little hold-up @ FedEx but, get this, Amy said she will get UPS or DHL to jump in today and try to right this! I 'm not counting on it, but hopes were for a delivery of Monday! That'd be impressive (and I'll try not to get my hopes up lol), but how cool is Amy to go thru this effort? Another great job Amy.

Whatever the case, the lights must've been assembled and passed quality control so I am a happy man!

really nice budz Guess,
i plan to order leds myself, around Christmas, nice to have a look at what they can do with new clones or young veg plants in your garden.
keep us tuned.

i wish you a nice day Guess.

E.D.

Thanks guys! I appreciate the positive comments. Seems like you're right, these bad boys are chunking-up nicely indeed!

FedEx attempted to deliver my new LED lights today, but I wasn't there :(

I'll go tonight and pick them up at FedEx. Try to get pics if I can get them up before bedtime. :)

Have a great day all!

Got the LED's, they look great. Very excited indeed.
