Let's Find a Mother! Hiking Through a Field of Mary Jane

U gonna be starting a new journal x?

Not for a while - I needed a break from growing and journaling both, and don't need the extra meds right now. Lots of stuff going on in life right now, too, so it'll work out well. I have to admit, I miss it though (both growing and journaling)!

Right on. Gotta recharge the batteries every now and then. I just took ayear off myself, made all the difference, I was burnt and not enjoying it so I stopped, took about a long before the itch came back. Haha. Let us know when u do start one

Im over here buddy and I can really say its a cool feeling for someone like you to ask me for input with the coco. I mean your plants look great to me. Its all hydro right? I have to really go threw this excellent journal of yours and learn alot my self. As X said a while back in your journal, I like how you have your feet up watching the herbs grow :)

Ill be giving reps going threw your journal. :thumb:

PS i may have been subbed in something else. I dont believe I was already subbed here. Shame on me!

Thanks for checking out my journal!

There was no coco when I grew in to 90's. at least nobody I knew used it. I used just perlite and vermiculite for non hydro plants. Added coco this time as it sounded nice. It sounds like it works well once you learn how to use it. The same could be said for verm and perl. I've just forgotten those lessons more than hydro.

Cool. Nice to see your stepping outside the ordinary trying something new on your end. Did you get any pics of the plants in coco or have you fixed that issue yet? IDK if you been back over to my journal yet but you can water the bonemeal in the top soil but its more effective if preadded before you transplant into the coco. camg+ would be the best way to go if you have already established plants in the coco. Bonemeals is just great before transplanting becuase of the P,N & Ca. Which are all great for roots to take off along with the plant after transplanting. But if your seeing brown spots on your leaves, I wouldnt add any because thats a sign of to much calcium.

Maybe I need to back off calmag and use some Epsom. I'll get some pics up of clones, but I think cold is part of the problem. That is fixed as of this weekend. The AC I side the flower room is keeping the basement much warmer. Thanks for the bonemeal tip. I have not made it back to other journals. I'll try to catch up sometime this week.

No problem. Yea I would like to see some pics.

I didn't take pics of the clones. They are all looking pretty good. The ones that aren't looking as good are also my more sativa strains. Up until this weekend, it was pretty cold down there. Now that the temps are in the high 60's or low 70's, they look better.

Time for a little update about what changes were made over the weekend. I was a busy little hiker down in the basement. I got the AC and CO2 generator installed in the room. I removed the can and filter, and I got the fan mounted outside the flowering room. I still need to get the filter back on. Hopefully tonight or tomorrow.

So far, I really like the sealed room. It should result in a much more stable environment. The AC runs a lot. I haven't sat there and timed it, but I suspect it runs ~50% of the time. I think it does leak a little air, but it doesn't seem too bad. I also haven't put any effort into sealing up the hoses other than where they attach to the wall. That will be worked on in the next few days as well.

The CO2 generator is working well. It is hotter than I thought it would be, but it doesn't have to run very long. I'm still trying to dial in the cycle timer settings, but it looks like it will only have to run for a couple minutes each hour. I've only had one day to mess with it. It's difficult since I can't see what's going on inside the room without affecting the CO2 by opening up the room. I just randomly open the room and check the CO2 meter. Then I look at the cycle timer to see how long it's been since the last injection and make adjustments as needed. I'm only trying to give a mild CO2 boost. I'd like to stay in the 500-900 ppm range. If it hits 1000ppm and falls from there, that would be OK.

The best part of this is the basement is much warmer. Before I got the exhaust going, but after the AC was running, the basement was getting pretty hot. It got into the upper 70s in there for awhile! The AC was actually struggling a little I think. I tried to position the intake and exhaust as far away as possible, but I'm not sure how much it's helping. With the basement venting out the chimney, the basement is stable in the high 60's. Once I close in the veg area, that should be enough to get me into the 70's in there.

So here are a few pics of the changes.

The AC and CO2 gen inside the room. This is likely going to get moved around when I put the dehumidifier in there.

The other side of the wall. I'll be moving that upper elbow lower to smooth out the ducting some more.

Since I know why you're all here...
Bud Porn!

This one is the Blueberry plant. She looks wonderful. One of the most distinct of the strains in the room. She is very dark green. Might have heavy N, but she isn't objecting. Super frosty too! She looks like she will be one of the slower strains.

These last 3 I am not 100% sure which are which strains. I think I know which plant these all are, but rather than mislabel them and confuse myself later, I'm not labeling any. At least they are pretty buds even if we don't know who's they are.

Thank you sir! :bigblush:

I have to hand it to you Hiker. Those plants are doing very very well. You have a great grow going on here my friend. Im so happy Im subbed reps!

:thanks:

There have been some bumps along the way, but I think it will turn out pretty good for a first harvest. It's not my first grow ever, but it almost could have been. The last time I grew was '98 (maybe '97?) I think. I'm quite certain I've forgotten more than I remember. Of course the same thing could be said about what happened yesterday as well!

I keep looking at them. Those are some true beauties my friend. I like the way they look really smog and skunky like. I know the smell has to be over welmingly beautiful. Hydro is the way to go. I ran my 1st bubble bucket in my grow now. And its alot of work to keep the roots healthy. I wanted to run 8 buckets next grow but fear it would be alot harder to maintain. Plus instead of going with voodoo juice I would have to bump up to H&G Root enhancer since its like 1.25ml per gallon. And that would do great with all that water. Im still thinking about it. Still need to do my homework :)

I like the bucket system. I can still move all the plants as needed, but only one reservoir to manage. The downside is they all need to be the same age, but there are advantages to that as well. The second flowering room is likely to have 2 reservoirs for 2 separate circuits. I could use this to have different age plants in the room, but I think it will be most beneficial for growing different strains that like different nute schedules.

I'm far too lazy to manage an individual bucket for each plant. Maybe if I only had 2-4.

Yea I know what you mean. I have the DIY system lay out for 8 buckets. But ill be using the 10" net pots with 2 plants per bucket. All the same strain. Ill be growing it in a SOG manner though so no side branches to worry about. I like how your room is set up. I to have an inclosed room. Its alot easier to control the temps etc. Where did you get teh nice size drum from? I was just going to stack 2x 5 gallon buckets on top of each other or get a huge tot for the main res. I think im looking at 125 or more to buils this system. What brand and size air pump are you using?

I will run one bucket with anther bucket as res just so I don" have to move the plant.
In one of my past growes, I had 4 dif setups a 10 bucket, 2 - 4 bucket, and single.
In the ten bucket the res was 3 - 5 gallon buckets one pump and 2 return linked together.:peace:
