Can you get a hold of some regular store bought potting soil....just to germinate in if u have no pm?
I always put a few inches of reg.pm on top in my starter pots ...just for this reason!!

If it's bland don't think there should be an issue, will have to do some experimenting with any seeds I believe to be expendable.. prob keep it in coco just long enough to get first set up leaves then wash off hit put some roots in the soil and see what happens.

I used the jiffy pellets because I already had them.
If it had been that coco was the only thing available, you can bet your money I would have tested it.

I dont remember which type of starter plugs were used but I seem to remember Doc
talking about using them directly in the 1 gal starter pot to germinate in

It was either rapid or riot rooters but I don't remember which.

I lost my seeds first try using Docs soil, now I put a couple tablespoons straight PM with miko's right where seed is planted.

I need to get some straight PM for this reason, as I have a ton of seeds to crack.

Suggestion OL...buy a big bag of pm HP....just keep it around.....i do...comes in handy...every cycle!!

I will, just never had a need for it until now.
I do the same with the EWC.

Just went to the local hydro store to get some EWC, might give him a call to see if he can order a smaller PM don't need 3.8 cubic feet lol

I could be wrong but I think Doc uses the rapid rooters for clones, not seeds. It's what I use too, I turn em upside down so they're less tippy.

Your correct, but he did recommend them when this conversation came up in the Q&A thread I think it was.

Like you, I had soaked and cracked before putting them in soil. I just had never heard of problems in 1st run soil, and had successfully used it before.

I kind of figured that sprouting by whatever means would be ok as long as they went into soil afterwards. But none the less I have no experience with coco.

Oh yeah it can happen in 1st run soil too. My 1st hb grow I lost like my 1st 9 seeds. I really don't know what to think after graytails post. I have replanted seeds in the same spot after having the seed eaten and the new ones came up. I just figured it could be the soil eating the weak seedlings. I hoped the soil was selecting the best plants for me. I just planted 2 lambs pupil and 1 thai chi directly into the soil and 1 of the lambs pupil got eaten the others came up and are perfect little plants.

Update:
Warbird was leaning a little, then late last night I noticed she was laying into the other plants and tent walls.
A quick trip to chinamart to look at some tomato cages, there were several sizes and gauges. As it became obvious that is was too late in the game to use a tomato cage, I saw a plastic snap together unit. This might work!

When she was just leaning, I went and bought a roll of twine to tie her up to the tent poles. Due to work I couldn't get to it right away, which was probably for the better as that wouldn't have sufficed.

That's the method I usually do, minimal effort

Yes, that works well, have used that method many times. Also joining the stakes together with horizontal stake pcs. works peachy too. Cheers OL, Gray , Dyno and friends.
