Dyold's Grow 1

Dyold shorting the time table isn't going to hurt anything. You were talking about the DLS. I use that also. I seems to shorten the flowering or speed up the flowering by a couple of weeks. I've had pretty good harvests. there are a few others that use it also with good results.

I am of the same mind Beemerbill although it is always a small comfort when other have had success at using a technique your in the early stages of learning.

Thank you everyone for the information or the people and places to gather such to make a more informed grow plan succeed. I am grateful.

Puff...Puff...Pass:peace:

Shottafire I don't have a dehumidifier as winter is coming on and I believe the small forced air heater I will have to put in the room for the lights out cycle will most likely take care of any excess moisture.

Most people I know that are growing for Medical reasons are saying as high as 60% during Veg and 40 to 50 for Flower with Co2.
However I have noticed that most people are getting powdery mold or are having to constantly battle with it.

My thinking tells me that lower humidity=less moisture available in the air for mold to grow on. The down side is perhaps the plants take on more water thru the root system to account for the dryer air. Time will tell and I am comfortable with the Humidity range as it is, the higher number is from the watering that took place about 2 hrs before the lights went out for the dark time. Humidity has been averaging 38% to 42% so far.

Thanks for the response Shottafire and Happy Smokky to you.

38-42% That is a really good humidity to shoot for dyold. The plants do use more water more quickly when humidity is kept lower.

I like my veg to stay at or below 50% and flower 30-40%

I would try watering closer to lights on than lights off as well.

This morning

Happy Happy !

This looks beautiful, subbed. I read somewhere that the more dark time the plant shifts to root production and when lights are on 24/0 the plant still delegates time and energy energy to this as well as focusing on converting nutes and light into plant food. The goal is to get a happy medium where the plant is getting maximum root development while at the same time getting as much light time in without one effecting the other.I think maybe donpaul.d had a link to the post I read but someone tried plants from like 16/8 to 24/0 the plants with least light had large root structure and smaller growth up top 24/0 had larger plants and 18/6 had almost the same size as 24/0 but with a much more developed root system. Can't find the post for this but it was convincing enough for me. But just some food for thought for you.

Hello ShrubHub and Thank you for the Sub and compliment. I believe I read this same article where they measured the root growth with differing light/dark cycles. If memory serves me right the plants that got a set dark period during veg had healthier root systems which in theory would produce a plant which should have a higher and perhaps more potent yield.

I am starting the GLR as I only have about 10 or 12 days and I want them into 12/12. Figured I would just do it and see what happens. Worst case is that they start flowering before I want them too and I can live with that. Best case would be a good fattening up of what is there and a very quick switch into full flower mode and BAM ! :cheer:

Dyold you shouldn't see any flowering in that time. I must have missed why do you need to go into flowering is 10to 12 days. If you are on a schedule and have to get he crop in by a certain time, use the DLS to speed up the process and veg for another week. Just a thought and only my opinion. Hope you are having a happy Weednesday

My thought behind this is that in 10 days I will be at 30 days veg growth I may stretch it to 40 days. I am at 20 days since transplanting to 5 gallon pots and being under the lights. However I would prefer to be showing or starting flowering light cycle by the 40th day for the 50-70 days that Permafrost strain is specified at for flower time.

Happy Weednesday too you Beemerbill.

Daily update 9/26 - Fine tuning the temp/humidity lvl of the room, cycling the discharge fan 30 minutes on/off during lights on only.

Thank you Light Addict. :thumb:

Some Canopy shots to show the FIMing and the regrowth from just overnight with plants on the GLR light cycle (12/5.5/1/5.5) for the last 3 light cycles. The plants are growing about a half inch in a 24 hour period. I have nothing to compare it to so not sure if this is great, good, average.

Good growing and thanks to everyone.

Looking really good Dyold. Happy Friedday. Your girls are growing really nice.

Thank you Beemerbill and Light Addict for the kind words and +rep.

Here is a daily update. It has started to rain here and will most likely not stop until June of 2k14, so needless to say the humidity has gone thru the roof and it looks like I may install a dehumidifier and soon like. Time to hit the pawn shops and or perhaps Habitat for Humanity shop and see if I may get lucky.

Couple of things I have done over the last week or so is sealing the doors and Pony wall so more air is going thru the system and not thru the walls and added sealing items to the bottom of the doors so the flow under the doors is cut down to almost nothing. Seems to be drying the room out a little better. Humidity reached around 71% yesterday with all the moisture being drawn in from outside directly thru cracks around windows and doors. Plastic and 40 lb vapor barrier took care of the air leaks. I did not have light leaks but air can get where light cannot.

Another week starts and hopefully about 14 days from flipping to flower if my vegi growth is where I would like to be. Happy growing and stay well.
