Blueberry X Haze - Ebb & Grow

Thanks for the idea for cleaning that nasty hydroton. I actually had a vision last night in my dreams that I would make a big bag out of mesh fabric will small holes and run the garden hose through it full-blast. I think I'll hit up the JoAnne's this weekend and get myself some mesh fabric to give a shot next grow. I'll let you know how it goes. Maybe if it goes really well then I'll patent it. LOL!

"I snuck in before the lights came on and snapped some shots.

I bought some things to make a shower curtain of reflective material. Construction will go down this weekend.
"
Let me know how your shower curtain idea works out. Sounds like an adventure worth pursuing as an experiment. I have a few ideas on how to construct a mylar curtain that shouldn't tear but I want to see what you come up with and how it works. You might be thinkin' the same thing as me. Now that would be a little creepy.... but kinda cool, too ;)

I just drill some holes in the bottom of a rubbermaid tub and run the hose thru it. It works pretty well, and they are fairly inexpensive.

verry nice journal. i grew some BD out doors this year. my buddy had 3 clones left so i through them out side. i very much enjoyed the way they came out. espesally for an out door grow. i think i might try to do an indorr grow with this in the near future. keep up the good work, its looking awsome.

Thanks for the names of the other Ebber-lovers ;) I'll check out their journals. I just put my 14 into the system yesterday evening. They're 3 week old clones. The first 2 weeks they were in a clone machine that had the neoprene collars and misted the roots. The last week they were sitting in dirt until I could get the system up and work out the lighting, heat and ventilation dialed in. I came home from work tonight and they look the same as they have all week long. I guess that means I haven't failed miserably.... yet... I'm going to remain optimistic and keep following your adventures and try to use the info in the future whenever some glitch comes up.
Any ideas on convenient way(s) to wash the hydroton? I soaked mine for 5 minutes then rinsed them in a colander for about 2 minutes. It took me all damn night to get through two, 50 lbs bags of it and I totally trashed my fresh coat of nailpolish in the process! LOL!
The sad part is that I noticed this evening that there is a red, chalky residue on the insides of the buckets where the water was earlier today. I swear I rinsed that stuff so thoroughly. How can there be residue left on them?

Ive been playing with hydroton for over a year now. the easiest way is get a 5 gallon bucket and drill alot of small holes. fill the bucket and run a hose over it......30 secs later and your clean. it works very well

Quick question,
I currently have 3 oscillating fans in my room (8ft X 18ft / 8ft tall)
I have one wall mounted up top to bring the warm air down, and 2 blowing across the trunks of the plants at opposite sides. Should I actually aim the fans towards the tops of the plants? And how much should they move? Just the leaves moving, of actual branches?

I know that stronger winds can strengthen branches but mainly the leaves need a gentle breeze to mix the gases under their stomata. The oscillation helps to protect from wind damage to the foliage. That is how I understand it.

Day 47 / Day 19 flower
Did Res change yesterday, (2 days late) I have been busy. Things look great, Tallest is 50in, and shortest 40". I arranged pots so smaller plants are under 1 light, and bigger under the other. I setup a reflective curtain, and it seems to be working well. Of course, every time I change something in the room my climate changes as well.... I finally have the temps back under control. I have my PPM at 1550, and the plants look great. I have been researching a product called PK 13/14. It is supposed to be added to the reservoir for 1 week, 3 weeks from harvest, and is supposed to be awesome for growth. Here are some pics, Happy Holidays.
Good morning
