nice looking Jars O Weed ! At least it was a easy pre-jar for you so far .. I got a question and it has nothing to do with your or anyone else grow !! I want to know why it is the weed grown and what i have grown always comes out green and kindy dule looking instead of the stuff you buy in store or they show when looking at plant ( the cured bud seems to sparkle and have the colors .. what is the secrets for this ?? When not sure what’re saying? You want green or want dull?

Store bought has been shipped around a lot more. Likely a lot older than your own.

You want more “sparkle” - its our main focus at the moment.

Out plan is handle it lots less. And when we chop, and either wet or dry trim we are going to take a lot more time on it. Previously to chop and hang say 18 plants which ends up being about 3.5kg - 8/9lbs? A normal harvest for us, if we just chop and hang 90 minutes? We wet pluck say 3 hours. We’re too quick I think. To much lost to “shake”. We’re gonna slow it right down. “Cha Cha” as it is in Thailand. Slow Slow.

I see loads of Cali import in shops here - dull greens, but certainly here I know as fact its been vacuum packed for shipping and I suspect we ain’t getting the best of US weed given its technically illegal to import it.

I am pretty rubbish at taking photos of weed but tomorrow ai could take some photos od Say April ‘23 November ‘23 January ‘24 and March ‘24 harvests if anyone is interested? Checkout out how the color changes with time.

We don’t use jars, Grove Bags, same principle. Less effort. They’re stored in an 24/7 A/C controlled space in the dark.

Like a lot of things in life truth somewhere in the middle.

Never thought about it before - but you know the “shake” so basically kief, trchs? You coukd sprwy that on for more strong, some little low powered airbrush? That might do it? When you grow at volume and if you were careful 5”to collect it reckon you Could reused it for jar appeal something like that? To be fair it would also get you more high and still pass say Californian sales rules. Its the same kind of thing I dunno! Breakfast cereal comp aies been doing for 50 years! Sure it must happen?

For your own weed (the best weed!) Cure is where you can turn average into great you can lose so much quality there, more slowly moving, like I’m planning on the kinds of speeds you can walk underwater! Very slowly! I reckon that’s gonna add sparkle.

wraps his STS brown coloured bittles in tin foil.

I wrapped the brown mixed spray bottle in duct tape but the brown A and B bottles are just tucked in the back of the fridge. With my daughter moved out the light in there doesn't stay on long.

So if I read correctly you’re doing STS T-Minus 5 Days Flip?
I ask because I’ve read 5 days before flip and the night before - no one seems set on which is better.

Not sure if you watched the video I linked to since you don't see linked text (HOW'S THIS? <--- That's a link...click it and see!), but that guy's system is the one I'm using. 50/50 rather than 90/10 and 3 days before flip, flip day, and every 3 days after that. I think I only end up spraying another 3x after flip. So much easier than CS.

You sure have been busy! What a relief! 100%! Oh yeah! Awesome harvesting! Those are pretty giant colas! and seed making is deep into the process! Ooh ooh my Candida! We could make it together!

Some of that is that dispensary weed is grown under excellent conditions, which seems to create more even frost. Some could be the additives folks have mentioned and some of it might be how it's trimmed, which is a lot tighter than most folks here do and eliminates all the sugar leaves, exposing the calyxes.

Sunday was flip day 1 for the Candida seed-making adventure with a total of two STS sprays before lights out Saturday (that would be Wed and Sat mornings), and today was the first spray after flip.

Here are the two clones dedicated to the process on flip day 1: one to reverse for pollen and one to flower and receive pollen (and make seeds):

In other news, I cut the Queen G auto 2 off the lines and into a turkey bag on Saturday afternoon, and some it looked suspicious, so I scoped it:

Queen G auto 2 with mold

Well that's no good. I'm thinking of taking all three autos (between the mold and the extensive PM) and heating them up to 160º in the oven to kill whatever is there, and then making dry ice hash from them. I'm not sure I want anyone smoking the flowers. Again, my sincerest apologies to @Justin Goody, who had both faith and high hopes for my ability to show off these crosses.

Finally for the day, I gave some Grandpa's Moonshine (@ChefDGreen if he's ever around) to my non-family flower tester, and she came back with this smoke report:

"Thank you again for the buds. I really enjoyed this. When I first tasted it almost tasted like wine to me, it seems to burn very nicely and tastes good. My guess is it's relatively high THC. I felt a bit jittery at first but then felt my muscles really relax. It did not feel too heady but more light and floaty. This is another great one [she previously tested the 5 Killer Cookies]. Oh one more note: the high lasted for quite a while."

That was some positive news after the mold!

I don't know what dilution they're using but I've seen 5 days on a number of instructions. Interesting they don't mention flipping anywhere in the sequence. Also, I spray mine in the morning and leave it in the sun all day so we'll see if that matters, as I can't remember what I did last time. Maybe I should do the next ones at lights out, though the guy in the video doesn't.

Greetings all and a belated happy Easter to all of you who celebrate it! Not a lot going on worth talking about but I did do a dry ice hash run on some old and new stuff, so that can be my Tuesday afternoon update.

First off, the Queen G auto 2 with the mold settled at 62% in the turkey bag, so I weighed it:

That's 105g or 3.7 ounces, so not as much as the one where I didn't cut it down to just 8 colas. That's not my normal style anyway and it does work for a lot of folks, but not for me. I can say it had a very sweet and fruity scent to it.

Next stop for those flowers was the oven on a baking tray. I ran them for 20 minutes at 175ºF (lowest my new oven goes), but then I decide to do another 30 minutes at 200º. Not enough to decarb but hopefully no mold survives at that temp.

And from there it got sent to -109ºF when I converted it to dry ice hash!

My son and I picked up 10lbs of dry ice, grabbed a 73 micron hash bag, and ran four batches of flower from mostly old stock. I ground it up loosely (not too fine) first, and for the record, here are the four batches:

• Sour G from 10/7/19 and droughted Sour G from 11/14/21
• Doug's Varin (no THCV) from 4/29/22 and Durban Poison from 2/21/21
• PowerPlant from 10/3/20 and Purple Urkle from 10/15/22
• Queen G auto 2 from 3/29/24

We shook for less time than we did a year ago to make sure we didn't get plant material (if it even goes through a 73 mesh screen...dunno), and we tried shaking it into a plastic bag as @GratefulBud explained, but the cold split the bag in a few seconds, so we went back to using the mirror (seen here from my last go when we used 120 micron).

Dry ice hash

I didn't weigh flower vs hash so I have no idea about yield, but I do know that it's difficult to use the color change method for knowing when to stop shaking if you're working with older flower since it's brown to start with as you can see in the pic. The only blonde hash was from the brand new QGa2.

It's drying in a closet with a mini-dehuey at the moment because @HashFart said dryer was better. That's a great smelling closet for sure!

On the Candida seed making front, it's flip day 10 and there are neither pistils nor balls yet, so I'm still spraying every 3 nights. As I recall, Candidas are slower to flower than other plants (@Heavenly Hybrid might be able to confirm that since she's grown them more recently than I have). Either way...we'll see soon I hope.

hey, one thing I've noticed is that with dry sifting people keep the tails (anything below 20 microns),
whereas with bubble hash the tails are thrown out with the wash water.
I've wondered if maybe sifting through the 73 into a 20 could improve quality slightly -
or perhaps if it's the opposite and that we lose out a bit when making bubble hash.
I haven't done dry ice hash and without evaporating a bucket full of water I can't really tell you lol.
But I'd guess you could sift it through the 20 and find out.
