SEED DROP
Started in 12hr seed soak using RO Water with
(1/16 tbs per Gal)
Powder Kelp
JULY 12TH/13th @ 12:00 AM (July New Moon)

PLANTED
JULY 13TH @ 12:00 PM (Noon)
In 1st run Cooked DBHB Soil with 1/2 to 1 inch
straight Pro-Mix on top, Entire pot Dunked in RO H2O

SIDE NOTE:
I tried my best to position the seeds with pointed end up.
This is the preferred position to help the seed start and
find its way to the surface the easiest.

Both up morning of JULY 16th (72 hrs.)
The GDP Actually came up the day before but had the
Husk still on Seedling, She was stretching to much
so I had to help remove the Husk.

I think NEXT TIME I need to plant lower, don't think she
had enough travel space in soil to remove the husk ?

(only planted approx 1/2 inch deep)

"""""""""""""""""""""""""""""""""""""""""""""""""""""""""""""""""""""""""""""""""""""""""""""

Last since its going to be slow for a while until the seedlings
get going I will just include random thoughts and pictures until

then. Please feel free to comment and add your own pictures anytime.

Recently Read the following and curious if its True ?

"F1 seeds are the most sought after by breeders because they grow about 25 percent faster, and they grow larger and with more vigor that subsequent generations. "

I do not know that breeders seek them out, though now a days they do tend to smash a bunch of f1 poly hybrids together to make gear. F1 hybrids are usually more vigorous. I would think breeders would care more about using later generations, where certain traits they care to lock down have already been worked towards.

I found the following of interest. did not know it was a thing :)
"grow about 25 percent faster, and they grow larger and with more vigor "

I can see how that would be an advantage.
Have also read F1s will show less genetic diversity

I did not know that there was a percentage associated with the amount of expected vigor. As far as F1s having less genetic diversity this is true when compared to F2s and maybe even F3s. Usually with F1s you can expect to find3 to 5 main phenotypes. When you get into the F2 generation you really unlock a lot of recessive traits that you unable to surface in the first generation. So instead of seeing only the traits that the parents to the F1 generation exhibited, you can get hints of the "grandparents". The F2 generation is a great place to look for the special phenos. The real 1 in 1000 type of plants. How stable the F3 generation is really depends on the selected parents from the F2 generation. If you choose two similar plants that have predominately dominate traits the F3 generation should start to show more uniformity again.

Interesting Fact this Run was started on Almost the same DAY OF THE YEAR as my
last run in this journal. Since I am running Another GUAWI its a simple process to look
back EXACTLY 1 year by date to see How the TWO runs compare

First picture is the GUAWI last year at 15 day VEG the second picture is this years run
at 14 day VEG

LAST YEARS GUAWI at 15 day Veg
1874932

This years GUAW at 14 day Veg

1874934
Wait, I've seen this trick before.. stop using the same photos of those FAKE plants

Hey brother Gazoo, your plants are looking happy and healthy in there.
Cool to see the comparison picks on the Guawi! This year's looking even better than the last...:passitleft:

Thanks I agree It only hit me when I was curious how they ran last time and when I looked back
I realized how close they looked

she does seem to be a step ahead of last year. Cool thing is I have very
detailed records

SEEDLING STAGE

USER INTERVENTIONS by DATE
JULY 2018

JULY
STARTED ON THE NEW MOON

July 12/13 - NEW MOON Reference Date -

12/13th - 12hr SEED SOAK (w/Kelp 1/16 tsp per Gal H2O) put in Shotglasses at 12:45 am
. . . . . . . . ... .(They both sunk sometime within the 12hrs)

13th - Dropped seeds at 11:30 am
.........Used 1 gal Sq & Rd Starter Pots, 1st run w 1" straight promix on top.
.........Dunked Pots in STRAIGHT CLEAR H20 used Revers Osmosis water.
.........Placed each seed approx 1/2 inch deep with pointed end up,
.........this position will insure the seed does not waist energy re-orientating itself
.........I forgot to use "ROOTS" powder when planting

15th - GDP Broke ground with HUSK still completely around top
.........she just grew up straight with hat on all day (not counting this as starting)
.........Calling POP date from the 16th since that's when I took the husk off

:green_heart:START DATE:green_heart:

16th - GUAWI Broke ground No hat just green lobes :)
.........since the Guawi was now up I removed the Husk on the GDP
.........WITHIN a 1/2 hr she open with Green Lobes. Just a little damage
.........to one small lobed leaf end. Did not look to miss a beat so
.........thinking I pulled it off in time.

19th - July 1st Quarter Moon - Reference Date -

23rd - DAY 7 from POP or 1 Week Seedling - Reference Date -
......... Added 1-2 Ounce Clear H2O top water Dribble to both
......... to help keep roots growing in all areas of pot top and bottom.

24th- DAY 8 from POP
......... Added 1.5 Ounce Dribble to both plants
......... Did this since I was going to DUNK and decided NOT TO
........Rather than throw all the UN-used DUNK water that I had added TEA too,
........I went ahead and did another top dribble.

26th- DAY 10 from POP
......... GUAWI got another top dribble since I was
......... trying to stretch the dry cycle to match up with the GDP

......... Added 1.0 Ounce Dribble to GUAWI ONLY
......... ALSO did a plant rotation, Moved GDP to the right side now

27th- DAY 11 from POP - July FULL MOON Reference Date -
........Added 1.0 Ounce Dribble to GDP ONLY

28th- DAY 12 from POP
......... Lowered GUAWI from 12" below to 14" below the MH

29th- DAY 13 from POP
......... Lowered GDP to same level as GUAWI @ 14" below the MH

30th- DAY 14 from POP -
........FIMMED GDP ONLY
......... Lowered BOTH GDP & GUAWI to 16" below the MH

31st- DAY 15 from POP
......... GUAWI got 1st DUNK using a HEAVY FIRST dunk amount
......... Added 0.5 Ounce TP + 2.5 ml TEA to 12 cups H20
......... Result after Calculations
........REALLY ADDED 6.5061761 ml TP & 1.1 ml TEA

END OF SEEDLING STAGE

VEG DAY 1
1st DUNK for GUAWI

Day 18 from Germination Dunk
15 DAYS from POP
1 GAL Pot weight 33.5 oz

(approx 1.25 cups H2O left in pot)

DUNK DRENCH AMOUNTS
12 CUPS H20 with 0.5 Ounce TP + 0.25 ml Tea

10:00 PM Lights On, Prepare GUAWI for 1st DUNK

Weigh Guawi = 33.5 oz BEFORE Dunk ( Minus Dry weight 23.7) Leaves 9.8 oz liquid still in pot

TP DUNK DRENCH @ 0.5 Ounce TP and 0.25 Ml Tea
( HEAVY 1ST FEEDING )

............HEAVY FEEDING -- NOT A RECOMMENDED FEEDING AMOUNT -- HEAVY FEEDING
HEAVY Dunk ONLY being USED FOR 1ST Dunk. i will explain my reasoning here. Since its been stated
many times, Its very Hard to OVER DOSE the plants with this product, and WHEN i have seen
Plants struggling at the start THE FIX Nearly every-time is RESCUE or SUPER DRENCH. i decided
LAST GROW to help out the soil by doing it before its needed (cant hurt remember) I want to
MAKE SURE when VEG Starts everything needed is available. OK back to My Process

ACTUAL AMOUNTS
With Run-off calculations

EXACT AMOUNTS ADDED

Some Math to calculate TOTAL Product added

Started with pot weighing @ 33.5 ounces ( 9.8 oz of that was is added LIQUID weight still in pot)

I used exactly 12 cups of H2O to DUNK Into and was left with 6.75 LIQUID Cups left over. This
means I added 5.25 cups of product, just a tad over 44% (44% of 12 cups = 5.28)

SO
44% of 0.5 Ounces of TP was Added to Pot

MATH

29.5735296 ML in an Ounce DIVIDED by 2 = 14.786764 x 44% =
6.5061761 ML TP Per Gal of soil added to pot

Using the same Math
I used 2.5 ml in the 12 cups of Drench so
2.5 ml added to 12 cups H2O x 44% =
1.1 ml Added to 1 gal pot
(A lot more than my plan to use 0.2 ml per gal this run)

:green_heart:START:green_heart:
VEGETATIVE STAGE
AUGUST 1st (Day 15 from Pop)

:cheer:...:yummy:...:cheer:

USER INTERVENTIONS by DATE FOR

Added 1.0 ml TP + 1.0 ml TEA to 12 cups H20.
DUNKED with 2 cups down top

Actual amounts added
..........................Pot weight at start was 36.0 oz , After 73.0 oz
..........................Started with 12 cups liquid - 7 2/3 cups left over = 4.333 cups into pot (36% is 4.32 cups)
..................... TRUE Amount TP added to GUAWI 0.36 ml TP & 0.36 ml TEA
..........................A reg feed is 2.0 ml per gal and I am looking for 1/4 or 0.5 ml so a bit light

10th - H2O Top DRIBBLED - GDP 1.5 OZ H2O Top DRIBBLED - Been 7 days since dunk
..............BRIX 1ST TIME - On Both, Mixed 0.45ml Brix with 0.5 oz H2O

13th - 1/4 TP DUNK - GDP - 1/4 TP Dunk I should of used 0.1 ml TEA NOT 1.0 ml (same as guawi)

Added 1.0 ml TP + 1.0 ml TEA to 12 cups H20.
DUNKED with 2 cups down top

Actual amounts added
..........................Pot weight at start was 38.0 oz , After 80.1 oz
..........................Started with 12 cups liquid - 5 3/4 cups left over = 6.25 cups into pot (52% is 6.24 cups)
..................... TRUE Amount TP added to GDP 0.52 ml TP & 0.52 ml TEA
..........................A reg feed is 2.0 ml per gal and I am looking for 1/4 or 0.5 ml so very close to amount needed
I DID NOTE Start DUNK TIME and END TIME maybe next time I can adjust using dunk time ?

So NO Guessing this time I can TWEAK it just so ;)

Dont know if it makes any difference or not but I have noticed My Soil bin temps will
go up shortly after I hand turn it.

SO
Expecting I will be needing it shortly with the PHM I went ahead and gave it a good
hand toss. Both my 1st and 2nd run soil bins had a good amount of moisture on the
lids but still wanted to wake up all the workers and get them warmed up ;)

Howdy Gazoo :ciao:, nice to see you back around the block.

Just got caught up on your journal. Love the info you share with us and your dedication to the hobby.

Your plants look great! Going to try and train some Maui Wauis I have similar to how you are to keep them short. Thanks again I’m sure it will help.

How are those evaporative Huey’s you got doing ? I’ve had my unit for 1year 8months approx and it’s still working well. So hopefully it keeps on keeping on.

Best wishes with the PHM battle! Will be cheering ya on all the way :cheer::cheer:

Have a great day brotha Zoo!

Hay there my buddy your always welcome around these here parts.
Nice to have you stop in :passitleft:

Ooh Maui Wowie Da kine Brah, I remember it well was there in the mid to late 70s

The Hueys have been working fine Just Dont Like the COST OF FILTERS did not
run the unit (no water, to dry filter) before putting away and the found I was needing
a new set (2 units) plus my 3rd unit, different model needed one also

Still need to locate a local supply of the MOLD away or what-ever they call it
All the local big stores are SOLD OUT "ALWAYS" ?

Got bored and found myself thinking about the PLANT SPINNER again :hmmmm:

My original version, using the electric clock movement, did not have enough torque to
turn the weight of the pot

Thinking what could I repurpose, I remembered seeing a Watch display that was turning

Did google search for "Electric Display Stand" and found a few. Sadly non of the models
have a speed adjustment. The slowest model was 45 sec per revolution and supports 44 lbs
6" dia.

360 degree rotate more stablel, up to 20kg capacity. On/Off switch on the base side, Dia:6inch,
Rotation Speed: 45 seconds/circle;AC Power (110V-120V);
can be rotated by hand or Power (even when on)

28 usd shipped :(

Thinking maybe I can use a Fan SPEED ADJUSTMENT Unit or even a LIGHT Dimmer
to slow it down ?
ANSWER NO Just stops, does not slow

Next idea was to remove all the Teeth EXCEPT 1, on the Motor Drive gear.
Result went from 45 Second Revolution to 3 min 55 sec Per Revolution (4 min)

Still being to Fast I figured I could adjust it down further with my ADDTOP Timmer
that allows me to set 3 start/stop TIMES per day.

Set it to come on every 4 hours for 1 to 2 min during lights on.

Result = is 1 Revolution Per Day

Lights come on at 10 pm
4hrs later = 1st time on for 1 min (
90 deg counter clockwise)
4hrs later = 2nd time on for 2 min (
180 deg clockwise)
4hrs later = last time on for 1 min (
90 deg counter clockwise)
Lights out at 2 pm (4 hrs later)

lights are on for 16 hrs in veg

EDIT: Just realized the DIRECTION CHANGES with each on/off cycle :hmmmm:
Ok this still works but I do miss one 90 deg position.

I want to MAKE SURE Her Day STARTS at the same position each morning, dont want to confuse her

Holy shit Gazoo! Nice work brother! :high-five:

Thanks :passitleft: I think it should work but may have to glue down the white top rotation
plate, it spins freely. Thinking if the leaves get caught on something it could stop the rotation so
a more solid geared rotation will be better

I could actually set it for a slower rotation using the On for 1 sec THEN off for 2 sec type setting
BUT that stupid REVERS ROTATION with each on/off cycle really screws that up

I just love doing the MacGyver upgrades  that is, as long as they work

EDIT Oh forgot to mention it has a FUSE so if it does get stuck with enough force against
the motor it will blow that fuse first, I hope

:reading420magazine: hey 'G'. u and me...we gotta sit,...puff, chat. :passitleft:

Plan on it, I'm working on my DIY Transporter so very soon something may show up
on your door step :thedoubletake:

BTW I removed the flux capacitor From the Delorean, Needed it to complete the
Project

Gotta be careful, I could get kicked off another planet

Haha i don’t even remember what I wore or ate yesterday! . Love the tropical strains / smells. I have a long time friend that lives in HI. Used to exchange smoke and I got to try a bunch of old school stuff. Very nice and enjoyable. Can’t wait to make it out there. U ever been there Zoo?

Yeah I got that particular Huey because at the department stores here it had the cheaper filter. It retails for $29.99 here. Not bad but I agree I wish it was less for the wick.

8A5D070B-8368-4ED6-BE2A-B888BCBE7A58.png

I use some $8 bottle of anti bacterial and static stuff mix it like 5-10ml per full tank in it. I ran the original wick all last winter.

Will get another and do the same this fall and into spring. I got it at Lowe’s.

Nice plant spinner idea going to catch up on that now.

Have a nice evening G Cheers :ganjamon:
